I tried the Hogg fish sliders which were every bit as tasty as grouper (imho). I'd easily order that every day of my vacation. The hush puppies were spot on both crispy and light without the dreaded overly exterior. Fish tacos came out great, but the tortilla chips were unappetizing. Had a discussion about the Hogfish Sandwich situation with the owner Jeff on Facebook...I'd said that the best Hogfish Sandwich is at the Hogfish Bar and Grill down in KeyWest. Jeff suggested that I try his version of the Sandwich the next time we got to Clearwater Beach. HoggDaddy's has a great sports bar vibe and we watched some basketball games while we waited for our food to be delivered. The live band playing was very good (and I think one of our servers said Jeff was in the band..it was loud so I may have heard that wrong). Our servers had a misunderstanding and our food was delayed...then re-made fresh...Brett and Jacqueline (sp?) were very busy and busting their rears so we understood how that happened, they gave us a discount, which was appreciated but we didn't ask for or make a fuss about...like I said, we understood. Atmosphere was fun, the staff was amazing....so, how was the sandwich? Terri ordered the Hangover Burger and the egg was a bit overdone but still a great burger she said....the fries were thick cut and very good as well. The Hogfish Sandwich...the Hogfish itself was a good flaky piece of fish and exactly what I was expecting, the onions gave it a kick it needs, and the aioli sauce was a good touch (needs just a bit more in my opinion) the final touch was the local Cuban bread its served on...that is a fantastic! This spot deserves more than 3.5 stars. It is an awesome late night spot to watch football and get live DJ music once the games are starting to close out. You can enjoy pool, sit outside on the patio and smoke, the bartenders are pretty friendly and most of them enjoy their jobs. Rank the general manager is sweet and kind and very direct with what he likes and doesn't like about the lighting. That is very nice to see in a general manager. The DJ Drew who keeps the party Poppin once the games are off. What is extremely special about this place that they get back to the community. Visited here the last couple days and have a mixed review, Sunday service and apps were on point,Monday we went for the afternoon and draft beer was out in main bar, the cantina had draft beer. Went inside to have some apps,they came out very slow and they'd seemed to be very understaffed. Came for a late night meal after a concert in downtown Clearwater. Wife ordered the blackened grouper sandwich. Being on the beach you would assume for $20 it's fresh grouper. Instead it was frozen Mexican grouper. Asked for blackened they sent it out grilled then when I said something they took it back put some seasoning on it and re grilled it. Blackened fish requires a crust made with the seasonings by seasoning the fish heavily with Cajun spice and butter and then SEARING it so it makes a crust on the fish. So internally disappointed in the grouper sandwich. They were out of coleslaw as a side so my wife asked what else she could have and settled on the black beans because they were out of coleslaw then they proceeded to upcharge $3 for a side that she had to settle on. Not cool . I ordered the house special the hogfish sandwich. Fish was awesome. Bread was stale toasted would have been better, barely any blackened aioli on it which I was looking forward too and whole round pieces of red onion tends on the sandwich.Ruined the overall taste of the sandwich. Great sports bar with a great indoor/outdoor vibe. I believe they have bands playing at night too. I've been meaning to go here for weeks and finally made my way around to it. Glad I did! We waited for 25 minutes - WITH A BABY - 15 of those minutes we waited patiently for a waitress come before going to the hostess who was then shocked that no one came over. A waitress came over and took our drink order - great, progress!! No.... After that we waited another 10 and the waitress never came back with our drinks it to take out anything order at all. Some decided to leave but from someone that works in the food / customer service industry, we had to let the manager / bar owner know what the issue was because when we sat down, he was so sure of his place being great he offered a money back guarantee on a dish that sounded amazing.... We'll never know. Fast forward to us leaving - going to talk to the owner to just let him know what was going on, it seemed like he took serious offense and got really defensive saying "this is the busiest bar in clearwater"... That's all well and good - the restaurant was not packed, there was no wait to get seated and there were more than enough empty tables available for seating several parties - so his response was moot. There was never an apology or anything other than what seemed the start of a fight because we were unhappy. If this is how you want to treat your patrons sir, well I hope they read these reviews before entering your establishment. Disrespectful, Overpriced, and Hostile - Avoid This Place! If I could give zero stars, I would. I came here hoping to enjoy the Super Bowl by the beach with some good food, but instead, I was met with pure hostility and disrespect. The owner was incredibly rude and openly racist, which made the entire experience uncomfortable. His wife was yelling and screaming at me even though I'm seven months pregnant which was completely unacceptable. The staff also used profane language, making it clear that professionalism is not a priority here. The food was just as disappointing. It was overpriced and arrived cold. I ordered chicken nachos and barely got any chicken. When the bill arrived, they tried charging us for sauces we never even used long after we had finished eating. We were willing to pay but simply asked for those extra charges to be removed. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the owner escalated it, got in my fiancé's face, and even called law enforcement over a completely unnecessary dispute. No pregnant woman should have to endure this type of treatment just for trying to enjoy a meal and a game by the beach. Tom Terrific here with another honest review. We had a group of 50 come in with the stipulation we would get 15% off. I had the $13 cuban which included fries. $13 minus 15% is $11.05. The cuban was delicious and the seasoned fries were hot. It came to me in about 20 minutes. I suppose because there were so many people the servers shouted out the dishes like this: "WHO GOT THE PECAN PIE" OR "WHO GOT THE HOGG BURGER?" When I had finished my meal I had to hunt down the server Victoria. She was nowhere to be found. I finally caught her and gave her a $20 bill and told her to keep $5 as a tip. She rang it up in the caash register and started tending to people at the bar. I caught up with Victoria again and had to ask for my change!! She gave me $1.40 back. $11.05 plus $5 for the tip equals $16.05. $16.05 minus $20 is $3.95. So she gave herself a $7.55 tip on a $11.05 bill. That's a 69% tip. I didn't have a calculator and the place was noisy as hell and was filled so i let it go. But I didn't appreciate it. Even at the $13 price, a $5 tip was generous and I always tip well so i'm not feeling good about my server Victoria. I got the feeling she did this because i was wearing a red hat but who knows. If I were the owner I'd keep track of Victoria. Hogg Daddy's lost out on a 5 star review. I say this in every review where someone errors.
