Service is always great, never a long wait. I wish the food and drinks matched the price, it's way too expensive for what you get. The bathroom was filthy, hair and urine all over the toilet and fecal matter stains. The second you open the door to either bathroom you're hit with a strong foul odor. It smells like a port-a-potty at a week long festival or a construction site. The floors were dirty in the seating area. The booth chairs had crumbs and hair all over them. Been to their other location at Wrightsville Beach. This location right in Mayfaire in front next to CAVA. Ambiance same vibes the contemporary minimalist natural colors and teal themes and very cozy. Limited table seatings for two but big center table for big groups. Food still great quality and as good as I remember got my usual breakfast wrap with scrambled eggs chorizo black beans red onions n avocado perfectly toasted and seasonal salted coconut oat ice latte with their environmentally friendly paper blue stripe straw. Also just found out they have an app from the baristas to build up points so will be downloading that for future visits when I'm visiting in town. when drift first opened up, their customer service and food was awesome and the longer they have been worst they have gotten. There's no sense in having to stand in line for 30 minutes to wait for the cashier to come to the front to take your order and the request of the customer to warm a mini item instead of serving cold is more and more of a problem. Missing the mark and it could have been good :( descent atmosphere, so-so espresso and a good sandwich ruined by a a bad cashier/"barista" with a terrible approach to customer "service". I asked to have my order for dine-in and I was given my hot drink in a paper cup. Not the end of the world, but when I asked to have a mug (which they had) she gave me a glass and HUGE eye-roll with big serving of attitude. TERRIBLE! How about treating your customers or anyone for that matter with respect. I would have fired her immediately, terrible for the business. I have absolutely no idea what this place is so popular? We got two coffees, and two pastries. A coffee cake and a cranberry orange muffin. Both pastries were served cold and neither tasted that fresh. The coffee was very bland. It was hot, but it had no dimension to it. It was very much a run of the mill coffee. Met a friend to try out the newest Drift location for a weekend brunch. Drift has long been a favorite of mine for their healthy, nourishing & downright delicious options. And I even have a favorite dish, but decided to branch out this time. My selection was a lovely blend of veggies, quinoa, poached egg, halloumi cheese and avocado. Truly satisfying with the savory, creamy, crunchy and chewy aspects to round out the bowl. A well crafted and beautifully plated dish indeed. We love the original location so we wanted to support their new store. It is conveniently located right at the front of Mayfaire, and there is ample parking near them. This place is designed beautifully, and you instantly feel relaxed there, but there aren't enough places to sit. The menu is a bit different but the selection is still wonderful! I always forget that their sweet potatoes are served cold so that throws me off. Their coffee is too bitter for me, but my husband and daughter love it. And while I was in need coffee zone in my head, it was really lunchtime. Ok. let's see what you got Drift...for a savory experience. The market bowl ws really nice. The kale tender and not like the classic experience of tearing into indestructible rubber. It was nicely seasoned and made me feel very healthy. The coffee was a solid. They are a plus to the Barista vibe in Wilmington. I like they slipped into the old Starbucks location in Mayfaire which is a clever move for them. They can wash hang the old Starbucx'ers who think the location is still there. We won't tell them it is across the street hanging out with FreshMarket, will we? Because the coffee is way better. And the food is thoughtful. Win. Win. We don't need no stinkin' drive through. We want to hang out and chat with our friends! My entire reviewing life I have tried assiduously to NOT write negative reviews. In fact, even if I have a negative experience I will just keep my opinions to myself. But this time, since it was also my second time going to Drift, I am going to make this point and say this was the worst coffee experience I have had in a really long time. Why? 1. I waited more than 20 minutes for two basic coffees: caramel latte and a dirty chai. This was because the people working the store actively chose to make coffees for themselves and their co-workers to drink while I was waiting in line. Additionally, they also intentionally chose to NOT make our drinks for several minutes while they stood around and did absolutely nothing. I was about to ask for a refund of my money until my Husband said that since we had waited so long we should keep waiting. Did I mentioned I tipped 15%?? I definitely should have for a refund 2. Caramel latte: After waiting 20+ minutes, my coffee arrived stone cold. Like the milk wasn't even warm at all and I grabbed it the minute it hit the counter. Gross. I made them remake it and the second version wasn't that much hotter. 3. Dirty Chai Latte: Pretty much water. It was the absolute worst Dirty Chai I have ever had -- and this is my favorite hot drink. We just moved to the area two months ago and we will not be coming back a third time. If you like coffee and respect your personal time, do not come here. We would recommend 3 Friends Coffee and Matter More Coffee. read more

My sister brought me to Drift on the way to shopping -- Drift is centrally located among a ton of shops. They have quick 15-minute parking in the back, but there are loads of other parking spots, too. My suggestion, park so then you can grab your coffee/smoothie/grub sit for a while outside/inside and then walk around to shop. Drift is perfectly named for a Wilmington coffee shop and the deco is spot on. The moment you walk in, you feel calm and like you've entered a beachside oasis. I am obsessed with the iced coffee that Drift makes. I need to find out what beans they are using. This was LITERALLY the best-iced coffee I'd have in my life, and I consider myself a bit of an iced coffee snob and aficionado. I didn't dull down this sweet sweet nectar with milk or flavor, and my mom (who won't drink coffee without creamer) gave my drink a sip, and she was hooked, too. I hope there's a loyalty program for Drift goers, but I am unsure if they offer one. Let me tell you, if I lived in Wilmo I'd definitely be making Drift my regular coffee shop of choice. read more

It was warm at best, no peppermint at all so I'm super disappointed. As a consumer we should definitely be getting what you are paying for. I was always going to give this place 5-stars but right after I had my last drink there, I wish I could give it 1000-stars. There are a few locations and I find myself drifting back to this one, get it? DRIFTING! Anyways... I like this spot because it stays open late so when I need to papa squat and get shit done, I know I can rely on good coffee and a place to work. I am surprised someone would say the service here isn't positive because I LOVE the staff here. It actually is a big reason I come back here, plus the coffee. The employees have always been super friendly, asking about what I have been up to all day, and genuinely seem to care about the customers. They're helpful in choosing what to drink, which led me to my now, favorite bomb ass drink. No soy here. But I have now discovered OAT MILK. I ordered an oat milk caramel coffee. WOAH. I literally drink it and said out loud 'wow this is good.' Was I talking to myself? Maybe, but it was worth it. It's worth the $6 and I would order two if it wasn't so late. The food? Also delish. I love the acai bowl, it's a little runnier then I would expect them to be but I love all the toppings. The banana bread? Top notch. Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of my experience at Drift's new location. I love interacting with positive and friendly staff, but that's not what I felt here. They talked amongst themselves without paying much mind to me while I was at the counter to order, trying to decide what to get. I went to the restroom after ordering my drink and walked out to a dull "oh there she is" from one employee to another as I approached the counter. I prefer to be talked to, not about, when in a service based business. The "about" section of their website makes it obvious that this should've been an area where they thrived: "heartfelt service," "facilitate meaningful connections," "cordial interaction"... this is simply not what I experienced here. My golden latte was good, but nothing to write home about. The higher prices which are seemingly justified by the ambiance just don't do it for me. They did well with decorating and setting up the small physical space in this location, but I didn't like how there are at least two tables that I saw, reserved for those without laptops. I genuinely appreciate the effort to promote community, but within such a small space it's frustrating to be limited in your options to sit. I hadn't planned to be working on my laptop there for very long, but I wanted to respect the signs and sit elsewhere. This left me without a spot with access to an outlet to charge things, so blocking off that particular table by the window didn't make sense to me. Overall, this could be a great spot for a lot of other people, but it wasn't for me. I have a hard time with businesses, especially local restaurants/cafes/etc. who do not deliver on the promises of their mission. I was let down in this way. read more

This morning at 9 am, I walked into an almost empty cafe and ordered a coffee and a smoothie. The coffee came out in a few minutes, but after 20 minutes, the smoothie was still no where to be seen. After noticing employees just standing around chatting, I checked in with someone behind the counter and he said he would start making it right away. I was already late for work so after another 10 minutes I didn't even have enough time to get my money back and quickly mentioned to the cashier how disappointed I was to leave without a smoothie, my 8 dollars and 30 minutes of my time wasted.
