Enjoyed being on the patio on upper deck- open air, great view, relaxing. Good service, was a little slow but we went in at off time and perhaps there wasn't as much staff to support. $5 mimosas?! Check. Great martinis? Check. Inventive cocktails that weren't overpriced? Check. I had a burger and it ranked close to being one of my favs ever. Fries were crispy. My friend got the sushi and said it was good. Others split the Steak Rigatoni and while they liked the flavor and overall thought the portion size was good, it could have had more steak esp since the entree was priced higher. Went here twice on a recent trip to the area. Classy space and above average food for the area, though the prices are as much as you'd pay in some major cities, which seems quite over-priced for LaPorte. I tried the Calamari Po'Boy and Buffalo Chicken Wraps, also with side salads. The Po'Boy was good, but small-ish size and the squid was more breading than meat. The Chicken Wraps was what you'd expect; fair size and same flavor as most places. Really enjoyed the side salads which were better greens than your usual local joint, and some nice pickled onions on top with good dressings. Also tried the Steak Fondue which was disappointing. Mostly some chewy leftover steak bits in a melted cheese. The rest of the menu sounded good, but very meat and cheese focused. Not many good veg or Gf options, other than plain salads. The high prices might be justified if they got their meats and ingredients from local farms and/or grass-fed cattle, but there's little on the menu to indicate it's any different than the same Sysco Cowschwitz stuff that everyone else uses. The atmosphere is stellar. We had a lady's night on a Saturday night. Made reservations for the 2nd floor - The Buoy. Had a great table looking out onto Pine Lake. It was lovely to be able to be outside and feel the breeze while also being out of the sun. Jack T. took care of us. He was super attentive and very sweet. We ordered the Crab Rangoon dip, Buffalo Sprouts, Salmon Salad, Mushroom & Steak Rigatoni, and had several different cocktails. Everything was super tasty but my favorite was the Buffalo Sprouts. We will definitely return. After dinner we had a ton of leftovers, put them in my car and headed up to the rooftop bar for one more cocktail and the best views of Pine Lake by far! We had a group of 14 and they were very accommodating. Our waitress (didn't catch her name the cute brunette) was great - very friendly and attentive. Everyone liked their food (the cheese sticks are huge) from the burritos, to burgers, brunch, and I really liked my reuben. They have a very good bourbon selection at reasonable prices too. We live in the region but it's still a 40 minute drive, and we went in winter and on a holiday, Friday, Valentine's Day... pretty much set us up for disappointment BUT the food was spectacular and absolutely worth every dollar. I've never ate a spicy designed steak, it was not only unique and tasty, but it was cooked exactly to perfection. My wife's pasta dish was fantastic, the soups were great, and the dessert was out of this world and the portions were huge. I dined here Thursday and overall had a mixed experience. Our server was absolutely wonderful. He was attentive, friendly, and on top of everything we needed throughout the meal. They really made us feel taken care of and checked in at all the right times. Unfortunately, the experience at the bar was the complete opposite. The location, food, and service were great! Pretzel appetizer with three dips is a recommend with warm doughy center and crispy outside! Grilled cheese and chicken sandwich, as well as, the spinach apple salad were all on point. Enjoyed the fries and beautiful day on the roof top. A little heavy on the ice from the bar-three sips on the straw. Hard to get quick service up top, but the waiter was very nice - if not distracted by another group - which did include someone vaping! We had stopped for the night after driving all day and Drift was one of the few places open after 8pm. We had the mushroom burger and the Reuben sandwich they were excellent, the regular fries were really good but the sweet potato fries had been pulled too early and were a soggy mess. Service was just adequate, it seemed we were an afterthought most of the time. The physical plant is very large so it is nice, hard to get a feel for upstairs or downstairs, we were downstairs music playing, easy to talk. Swatting at the flies was a constant, when they have the tabletop spinners to keep them away. Beef stew was delicious, also the salmon my husband had is always a winner. I didn't get the bartender's name but he was great as well when we migrated over there after dinner. Lake front views, interesting cocktail menu, and a really delicious menu with lots of different tastes. Came here on a recommendation as myself and a large group were staying nearby. I'm a sucker for raw tuna, and the tuna poke style nachos were VERY tasty hitting some great tuna chunks with a delicious spicy sauce and teriyaki sauce. Love that extra spice with the pickled jalapenos plus the pickled crunch from the carrots and daikon were divine. I opted for the adobo shrimp salad, and that was the move. The jalapeno ranch with the smoky shrimp was a great pairing. The romaine with corn, black beans, tomatoes and pepitas was so nice and bright. Though it wasn't a busy night, the restaurant was a little understaffed, but we honestly didn't notice. Our server was so nice, loved chatting with us, got us our drinks quickly and was very attentive. This was my 3rd trip to Drift and have always enjoyed the food. Today we hosted a group of 17 for lunch. Everyone loved the food and the service (Drew) was excellent! Service was seamless and food all came out at the same time which is rare for a group that size. Will definitely be back again soon! read more

The food is good but it could be better for the price. The service is better than the food. The dining room is nice. Right when you walk in it smells like you are walking into a meat smoker which I like. I think that this place is mismanaged and they hire people from high schoolers to adults. A lot of things that I've liked on the menu have gotten taken off the menu. I think lower the price and stick to a menu that everyone likes. Beautiful location looking out towards the water! The place is really beautifully executed with a cool vibe you wouldn't expect for Laporte definitely felt like something from St Pete or a big city. The food was excellent with big portions and the staff was really attentive. When we arrived the owner even gave us a tour! I also can't say enough about the cocktails which are definitely gram worthy. Would highly recommend especially for a sunny day where they have all the windows open and the decks available. Business lunch event for 12 : we were seated in an area that had a retractable roof for nice days . Apparently the chairs used in this area are made of rope like material that absorbs water when wet. We called ahead and our group was seated in this area, every chair was soaken wet ! There was no wait because it was lunch time. The waitress was nice and the setting was nice. However with it not being busy we waited like 45 to 50 minutes for a burger, fries and an order of nachos. When i ordered my nachos I asked for a little extra pablano cheese on them. When I received the nachos it looked like I had a bowl of mustard soup. The chips were very greasy and the cheese was super thick and grainy. There was not alot of meat on them and what was on them was just sprigs not pieces. The nachos looked like I needed a straw to drink the cheese. I only ate a little and then it became to much and made me feel sick. When the waitress came she asked if I needed a box and I looked at here and said nope not at all. When she brought the check I asked why they put so much cheese on the nachos to where it looked like soup. She said im not sure but im sorry. Ok she apologized and I said thank you but usually the waitress or waiter would offer to get a manager. I feel like I was brushed off so she could get the payment for the check and then disappeared. I usually don't like to review restaurant but this I had to! Stop in today for my wife's and I anniversary. Heard so many good things about this restaurant. The two young inexperienced girls in front said they were over capacity on the rooftop two floors. Neither one of them knew what to do! We did want to experience the rooftop due to the nice weather. The two girls were offering us to sit in the bar but could not give us a time for a table. I will not be giving this restaurant another try. This review comes after my second visit. On my first visit I ordered the roast beef sandwich and it was mediocre, at best. The French fries were outstanding! On my second visit, we ordered the California burrito and grilled chicken sandwich. Again, both were mediocre at best. Not horrible, but not delicious either. The restaurant is attractive, but the sandwiches are over priced by about $5.00 and bland. You get a small amount of the tasty fries. read more

I have been here several times- and this last time was not a typical experience. Had I done a previous yelp review- it would have been 5 stars- but based on my last visit Im making it a lot lower and I hope that this is just a one off. If I had scored it based on my last experience- Id have given it a 1 or 2 stars. Im hoping to have a better experience in the future. The place is very new, trendy, impeccably clean with attractive staff. It will definitely be the "in" place for the summer- great views of the lake and they have a lot of outdoor space that will be great come summer. Ambiance 5 star, bar menu and execution of drinks- 5 star all the way. They had a new pineapple paradise drink- gotta have it! Its like a dole whip turned adult beverage! Drink called purple rain- excellent. Something with empress gin- oh my! A smoked bourbon cocktail my husband loves. We have ordered most of the drinks on the menu and I think all of them are winners. (And now I sound like a lush- but these drinks are worth it) .....But this last visit- service was super slow - meaning- it took nearly an hour to get our food. And Ive never had pork belly done so badly in my life- it was absolutely dry and STRINGY. How does someone mess up pork belly so badly?! They succeeded in that challenge! The flavor would have been good had it not been sitting under a hot light for such a long time- it was more like jerky that pork belly. Again- Im not exaggerating on this one bit- it was visibly stringy when i was eating it. It took effort to chew something that SHOULD have melted in my mouth. My husbands brussel sprouts were something we've ordered lots of times before here and every other time- they were DELICIOUSLY crispy. But this time- that had a definite burnt smoky taste. Like an off-putting smokiness. When my husband complained - shortly after it was delivered- the server said "thats how they always were"- but something was definitely off this time. We told her we were accustomed to them and this time they were not golden and crisp- they were thoroughly brown. She didn't offer to replace them or have them made over again. My husband doesn't usually complain- so - after being turned off by the waitress- he just toughed it out- and ordinarily we never take anything home- but this time - the remaining brussels went home with us. I don't know why we bothered. Our other two friends had some sort of pasta and they both enjoyed their meals. Fortunately, the server was readily taking and delivering drink orders while waiting such a long time for food. We had eaten earlier so we just got appetizers that #1 took forever to come and #2- were shockingly bad. And again- Ive had good experiences here before but even my husband that loves the vibe of this place said "Lets just get drinks next time". And we will be back. But this last experience will take a minute to get over- Ive officially been put off brussels for a while! And that takes a lot for me! I really hate to complain about a locally owned place. But this review would have been a lot lower had it been my first time going there. My suggestion - drink here- but the food and service at two other local places Red Door and Bare Bones is way way better. The ambiance at Drift is hard to beat- but even though we had dinner reservations - they clearly were overwhelmed and it showed. Again- this score is a gift- Id have given it a lower score - like a 1 or 2 - had we never been there before. read more
