If you're looking for something comfortable with a large dose of AMAZING..... THIS is your place! Our visit started with an incredible waitress, Moe! She guided us through a phenomenal experience! We began with nothing less than the PERFECT Peppermint Mocha Martini ! Coupled with their infamous Bacon Wrapped Dates! We added some Puffed Potato Poppers! While they're known for their incredible wood fired pizza, we asked for the chef to surprise us! And surprise us he did!! Talapia in a white wine & capers sauce. I couldn't believe it until I was shown. There are about 7-10 staff back there working hard. We thanked them for our Meal. I had the Pork-chop (No Knife needed! ) My Wife had the Halibut (Fresh, cooked to perfection) Chef Jeff came out and spoke with us when the kitchen slowed. He has a lot of Food ideas and he plans on implementing them. Ate here on Aug 22...Long waits for our food, poor service including, an inattentive waitress, lukewarm and under seasoned vegetables. Waited over 15 minutes for a piece of cake, at which point we cancelled the cake and asked for bill, which took another 15 minutes. While reviewing the bill noticed we were charged for a drink that was not ordered. Let it go as we didn't want to wait another 15 minutes for a new bill. This restaurant has potential to be a great establishment, but unfortunately we won't be back for a long time read more

I hadn't been to Red Door since the first year they were open. I took my parents for the Mother's Day brunch and was very pleasantly surprised by the food. And we had great service from Kendra - despite the busy-ness that happens when the whole restaurant seats at once right when the open. read more

First time eating at Red Door. Loved the ambiance but service was slow for only 3 tables (includes our table) and 1/2 full bar counter. Drinks are tasty. Appetizers were yummy and so were the pizzas. However the ball was dropped with the teriyaki stir fry special. It had no sauce and no teriyaki flavor. The only flavor that was tasted was the overpowering smoke taste from the added chicken. Incredible service. My husband loved the wood fired pizza. I always love the bacon wrapped dates. They were very attentive to our needs.

Such an outstanding experience. Love the vibe and decor. The staff was very knowledgeable of all menu items and the cocktails were delicious. The food was amazing. All food is cooked in a fire stone oven. My favorite Greens is the Nuts & Caesar. My favorite pizza so far is Umami. I can't pick a favorite Share item from the menu because it was all great! My favorite cocktail was Night Cap, it was a perfect drink to finish off our dining experience. I can't wait to try the Ghost Kitchen for lunch. Was looking for something different and in town. Came across Red Door, heard of it just not a lot of talk about it. Was very surprised that one of our favorite appetizers was on their menu, Saginaki. Decided to try it and it didn't disappoint. The wife ordered one of their pizzas, I think it was the bbq chicken and she was impressed. I ordered the gyro and it was good. There was a good helping of meat so I was happy. I would say they won us over especially being a local business. La Porte has always backed locals (especially when my wife had her restaurant). I have been to Red Door three times, and it's ok. My most recent trip is very representative of all of my experiences. We have had the same waitress each trip and she always seems like she wants to be somewhere else, not pleasant but not rude. When they have the windows at the front open, it can be very noisy when motorcycles and loud cars pass. To start it off, we ordered a Brussels sprouts appetizer. It also had potatoes and a balsamic glaze. The potatoes and Brussels sprouts were very firm, I would say the Brussels sprouts were warmed, not cooked. I had a prime rib special, with roasted potatoes, wild rice and asparagus. My wife ordered one of their pizzas. My wife's pizza looked very good, pepperoni with burrata in the center. A little perfect char, as to be expected from a wood fired oven. She said it was very good. My prime rib, along with the potatoes, and asparagus were all devoid of any color (and generally, flavor). It was as if they had boiled everything! Was this chef trained in mid century England? The asparagus was much like the sprouts, warmed up but not really cooked, but they were seasoned well. The prime rib had a lot of connective tissue and there were 3 distinctive veins present. Was it the grade of beef or just luck of the draw? All in all with a 20% tip, we were a few dollars under $100. Very underwhelmed, I've eaten much better for much less. read more

The Red Door keeps getting better and better. We were were a party of 4 and were seated at the table we had requested when I made our reservation, though the restaurant was quite busy. . The evening's ambiance was intimate and inviting. I ordered the salmon (on the recommendation of a diner sitting at a nearby table). It was perfectly cooked, tender and succulent (I asked for it to be cooked as lightly as possible). It was accompanied by al dente roasted asparagus and small roasted potatoes, that melted in my mouth. The service is always friendly and timely ( very experienced server who has been there every time we dined here. The Red Door mixes very good cocktails...from scratch. My Manhattan was delicious as were the more complicated cocktails that were ordered including a mocktail Margarita. We will be back! read more

The Red Door is fabulous. The chicken, beef short ribs, chicken, pizza, saganaki, dates/chorizo wrapped by bacon are yummy. Desserts are made on site and are fresh and delicious. And then the cocktails are special. The ingredients are fresh from grapefruit and watermelon margaritas, to the Basil Smash, Smoked Old Fashions etc. Plus the bar has an extensive assortment of interesting rums, tequilas, bourbons etc. Red Door has become my favorite place in La Porte county to have a delicious cocktail and awesome food. read more

I'm not sure if it was new wait staff or what happened but we came in shortly after 5 and there was a table of 4 and 2 people seated at the bar. We were seated and got our cocktails pretty quick (which were pretty good). Then a few other tables came in, our waitress took our order and then disappeared. It took almost 50 minutes for our food to arrive(not by our waitress) and my husband had been sitting for 20min with an empty drink and empty water. The food server (owner/manager) noticed this and put in another drink order. He sent waitress over to refill water - and she apologized but continued to ignore our table. We sat, done eating, for another 15 minutes before we were able to flag her down for our check..she never cleared dirty plates off our table, and I had to grab her and tell her we needed our bill run right away because we needed to leave. We were there for 1hr 45min. - the 3rd table of the night. We were the invisible table-waitress walked past us over and over and never stopped. The food was good, but I hesitate to return due to the service. I understand wood fired cooking can take a little longer but there is no excuse for letting customers sit with empty beverages for over 20min- especially if the kitchen is running slow. Sorry folks, bad service ruins even good food. read more

This restaurant is beautifully decorated with great atmosphere but unfortunately, those are the highlights. My husband and I have been twice. The service is absolutely terrible. Reservation or not, we waited 15+ minutes to be seated, 10 minutes to get a menu and maybe our drink order put in, water ten minutes after the drinks come after waiting 15 minutes for those. Our food order wasn't put in either time. Two drinks and 90 minutes later, we got our pizza. It was delicious but these people need help running a restaurant. They seem clueless. We won't be going back until it's under new ownership which seems bound to happen. read more
