The Gold Fish has proven this long-held collective pessimism wrong. Originally a cocktail bar only, it has now expanded into a cocktail, beer and wine outdoor/indoor bar, which makes complete sense given the city's demographic demands. It was actually one of the first businesses I was most concerned with us losing permanently during the pandemic. And I am so glad they have stuck around! It is a modern cocktail bar at its core, which makes it very unique to this city. This is an obvious adoption of cocktail bar trends from other larger cities in Texas. It is very nice, with a wide array of adult beverage options for discriminating consumers to chose from. The atmosphere is perfect, and the bartenders and staff are top-notch and super nice (the attitude is refreshing compared to what one may be used to recieving from such establishments in larger cities). I usually only come here when I have company from out-of-town, as I do not go out for drinks very often. At my most recent visit, I had just experienced a personal tragedy that I only briefly alluded to our bartender when she asked how our day was going. The amount of sincere compassion we received was not expected at all. My only regret is that I did not get her name, or else I would have gladly included it in this review.

The dark, relaxed atmosphere makes you feel like you've stepped back in time to a slower, easier pace of life. It's cozy, intimate, and the kind of place where you could easily settle in for the entire evening. I could sit here all night sipping a perfectly crafted cocktail, enjoying a few tasty bites, and soaking up the atmosphere. Definitely a hidden gem worth discovering! Try their clarified spirits. Wait staff is friendly and helpful.

My partner loves whiskey so when I saw this place while planning for our trip to Corpus Christi, I…read moreknew we had to check it out. We arrived after having had dinner and despite it being busy (it was a Friday night), we were seated quickly. Its got an old-timey vibe which is enhanced by the decor they use and the fact they were playing a black and white film on the projector. The bar area itself is gorgeous and displays what looks like hundreds of bottles of whiskey. We tried their sazarac and the Anastasia Grey. While I love anything earl grey, I wasnt the biggest fan of the charcoal element but thats a personal preference. It was rather busy so it took some time to get a hold of our server but understandable considering he also had other tables to focus on!

The games are now located on the ground floor, featuring far less than before. However, it seems the $12 "entry" for an all you can play wristband is not necessarily enforced so the two even out. Featuring mostly classic one player games and pinball machines (which, to be fair is the sole reason I went) you are still able to get in quite a lot of play! Just don't expect the whole shebang. For now, or at least when I was there, the upstairs was now more of a dance scene. Well, it should have been, we observed it entirely dark and not a soul in sight so either it's a late night thing or people simply don't go up there anymore. The rooftop was also closed this night, which again may just be a weekend thing. Returning back to the first floor, we played plenty of games, and ordered plenty of drinks. As far as service and price, honestly couldn't be beat! We had a great bartender and all of them seemed to be good at working the crowd. Be prepared for banter, and people who are simply there to chill and have a good time. A fun spot for sure, but maybe not my first choice when looking for a night out. Rather, the place you end up AFTER a night out. Solid middle of the road for me.

The staff were very kind, even made me a coffee (I was running on fumes) when it wasn't on their dinner menu (it's on their brunch menu)- no refills though. Cocktails were nice, they have a good happy hour if you like sangrias/mimosas. Our favorite of the night had to be the meatball sliders- comes out in 3's-we ordered it twice. The chicken pesto flatbread is my brother's favorite- he orders it every time. The mussels were just so/so and the Gorgonzola salad was a bit small. They do have a military discount but only on the most expensive entree of the service member. Would highly recommend and would definitely return if we were back in the area.
