I got the Dirty Hippie & In Love With Coco toasts for carryout and they were both INCREDIBLE! The pics that I took really don't do it justice. The toast slices are really big. The flavors on both blend perfectly. The Dirty Hippie tastes like it should be classified as a dessert. Soooooooo good! I also enjoy their donuts and the staff are really nice. It was a nice cafe, but the service was unfortunately poor. I liked the fig latte I got but I'm not coming back for it. The barista could have been more friendlier, don't know if they were having a bad day but it leaves enough of a bad taste in the coffee I had that I don't want to come back to that experience. read more

Wanted to love it but didn't. Not my first time there as I like to support local and independent businesses in my neighborhood. I was dismayed on a couple of levels this time around. Food overpriced and not too appealing, music blaring, large hairy dog way too near the counter with food. Then found a charge for a tablespoon splash of non-dairy milk and for ice. Ice! That increased the price for two shots over ice to about double other places. When THEY solicited ME for my feedback, I got a snarky response basically inviting me to go to Starbucks instead. Then a follow up to my additional comments back chiding me for my opinion? Not cool and certainly not inspiring anything positive to say. I read that as perhaps they're struggling and have lost any sense of importance with customer relations. At any rate, there are many choices around and I certainly can't think of any reason to choose Drink Happy Thoughts again. And review team, maybe use the feedback without the attitude of "so there". read more

I have been wanting to try out this place for a while now and finally stopped by this week. I am a bit disappointed with the Horchata Latte I ordered. The cold brew was very weak/bland and the "horchata" was not the best. I ended up tossing my drink out after two sips and making a latte at home, which is a bit upsetting. Other than that, the place was very clean and the barista was nice. I also think that the drinks are overpriced for the quality and taste. I have tried better horchata lattes at other coffeeshops and this one was not the best. My friend ordered a drink too and she did not like hers either. read more

I walked into this local coffee shop and loved the decor as well as the creative names for all the items in the menu. I ordered a CocoMint Cold Brew, which was so inventive and delicious. It's coconut milk, cold brew, and mint leaves, which was refreshing in this 85 degree weather. I also got a chocolate and vanilla macaroons. This is one of my go-to coffee spots in the neighborhood. The owners are incredibly friendly and clearly care about quality. Their drip coffee is consistently tasty and I've also tried a few bags of their beans. My favorite so far is their house Colombian, which happens to be a total steal at $10 a bag. To be fair I gave this coffee shop two chances! First try, I got the chaga coffee (mushroom coffee) and it just tasted like Luke warm milk. The menu looked great and I figured it was just a rough start to a new delicious coffee shop. Well, on my second trip, I got the chaga coffee again and the birds and the bees and they were both terrible. Luke warm and both tasted like milk. I have now spent $35 here and unfortunately, I don't plan on coming back again. I wanted to surprise my daughter on her birthday. This is her favorite coffee shop. I took some gifts in a gift bag and asked Hannah to help me with the surprise. I bought a gift card and some teas to add to the gift bag, gave Hannah my info and my daughters and she held on to the gift bag until my daughter came in for her favorite drink. We're so happy to have this new business in our neighborhood. Right now with the stay-at-home order, we can't dine in, but we were very pleased with our pickup order. The food was presented beautifully in its packaging, which created a similar experience at home to dining in. We literally opened our food and went "wow!". We appreciated the recyclable paper straws, boxes, and bag. The cold brew was excellent, as well as the iced horchata latte. I had a delicious and filling smoothie bowl that included homemade peanut butter, cocoa nibs, banana, coconut, and granola. Yum!!!! My husband ordered a huge piece of toast decked out with homemade almond butter, strawberries, basil, chia seeds, and honey. Incredible! He could barely finish it, it was so generous. We also ordered a bag of their in house roasted coffee, which we're pumped to enjoy throughout the week. The beans smell so amazing, and we can't believe the bag is priced at $10. We look forward to DHT being our regular spot. Congrats to the owners for opening during the pandemic and doing such a great job. read more

DHT is the master of cold brew! I'm in love with all of the different cold brew drinks like the cocomint cold brew and the horchata latte! The cocomint cold brew is so refreshing and it's amazing in its simplicity- they use fresh mint, which is amazing! Their horchata latte is a simple cold brew/horchata but it's killer. For me, I like my horchata more cinnamony, so I would definitely recommend adding an extra pinch of cinnamon. There are things I think they could improve on, like their iced matcha latte. I can't speak for their hot matcha latte, but the iced version had some matcha clumps, but their matcha was pretty decent. I'm kind of a matcha snob, so I think I'll be sticking to their cold brew, which absolutely has my heart. Their bourbon aged cold brew is STRONG, a little much for me, but if you like bourbon, you'll be obsessed. Very bourbony. Overall, I'm super excited to have them in the neighborhood! read more

This is the closest that you will ever get to farm to table coffee in Chicago. The owners have been to many of the farms and know them inside and out. This is, hands down, the best way to start your day. The coffee has depth, character, and nuance. The croissants are among the best anywhere. The pistachio donut is both savory and sweet.
