Terrible experience. There is no availability for lessons or driving tests. They charge in advance but then unable to deliver. Scheduling is only available for a limited time in advance. We had to call and talk to a manager a couple of times and ask for our money back and only then we got scheduled. This place is legitimately a scam. Paid $100 for a driver's test. When we arrived the office was closed and no one was there. They had a sign that said to wait as instructors might be out doing other tests. Waited almost an hr and called the central office multiple times. Eventually we left. If I could give a negative review of less than one star I would. The way that Jamie spoke to my daughter when I was not present is very unacceptable and not appropriate. I understand during Covid emotions are high and stress levels or even higher, but you negatively speak to someone trying to take a driving test and to speak negatively about their mother when they are not around is very much unacceptable. I reached out to Drive Safe nearly three years ago to take a private drivers licensing test. I paid the company $60 plus and the failed me, kept my money and I left with not even a receipt. I failed the exam because while driving through a school zone I began to accelerate once I was less than 60 feet away from the end of school zone sign. My speed increased by 2-3 miles. No matter how well I did on the rest of the exam, this automatically failed me. I am writing this review because the same thing happened to my brother, three years later. He had a perfect exam, they brought him to their "trap", failed him and took his money. Of course, not without an invitation to pay more and test again. I think it is important for everyone to know how systemic their scheme is. The DMV does not test in this way. Their are no systemic and deliberate attempts to prompt an automatic fail. This is a scheme. If you so choose to give this shady agency your money. Don't fall for their school zone trap. Do not change your speed until the end sign is at least several feet behind you. As a parent of a 15 to 16 year old the drivers licensing process is stressful. The law in Colorado requires six hours of professional driver education classes. I get why this is important. The quality of instruction was foremost on our minds when we chose Drive Safe and the 2 Star rating are for the nice, safe instructors our child drove with. However, they absolutely dropped the ball on tracking time, filling out critical paperwork and misinformation... What a mess. read more

I purchased a Drive Safe package May 2015, a few months later I requested a refund for the package, as the person it was purchased for decided not to use it. So, after 3 years of trying to receive a refund for an unused Drive Safe package, I finally got a response. As noted below the owners sent me a message. Their initial response to my review was that I was mistaken and had the wrong business. After some digging on their end, they found the package I purchased 3 years prior. The C.O.O. contacted me and after a brief and easy process they sent me a check for the full refund for the package I purchased. It only took 3 years and a 1 Star review to initiate the refund process. But at least I have my money back (which was over $400). So I update my review to reflect the fact that yes, they do refund. read more

As many have stated here, this place is a flat out scam. Just for context, I held a license for over 35 years, and let it expire because I lived downtown. It was more expensive to have a vehicle and I could walk most places or take the Mall Ride, as I lived adjacent to it. I had an ID and that was fine. When I decided to move out to Edgewater, I started the process of getting my license again. Since I held a CDL for years, drove 4 wheel vehicles most of my life, and operated many military vehicles during my time in the Army...I know how to operate a vehicle. I understand that is a different thing (since Karen at the school likes to pick these apart), but I know how to operate a vehicle. I know the laws. I have never been cited for a traffic violation. The test was easy, though 90 percent of the test was through a residential area, which seemed a bit like a "gotcha," if you know what I mean. They did not allow me to speak during the test, which I was fine with. There were two testing personnel along for the ride. I got the feeling that one was in training. Not a problem, besides him taking a while to call out turns. Anyway, when the test was over, they took time to "compare notes." When they were finished, they told me that I ran three stop signs and went "38 or 40 in a 35." Every single bit of that was a straight up lie, as I waited for the car to settle and even counted to myself each time that I came to a stop sign, just to be sure. Also, 38 or 40 in a 35? Welp, one of those is a violation, the other is not. At least they could have made up some more obscure violations if they wanted to fail me. Something that would have had me second guessing. And trust me, that's the scam. They immediately attempted to upsell me some classes, as if I'm not from this country or have several DUIs or something. I told them "I'm not buying your classes, that is all bs, you know it, I'll just go to a different school." So, that is what I did. I went to a different school, passed with ZERO violations or even any corrections. Weird huh? When I told the instructor my story about Drivesafe, he facepalmed and told me that the place is a known scam. Shocking. Also, fyi, even though it is required to do drive tests with third-party companies, the DMV will still charge you a $15 fee if you fail at one of these places. You can't pay this online, so you will need to go and pay in person. This is compounded by the fact that you must pay all fees before you can receive your license, so you will not be able to get your license online either. License appointments are pretty pushed back in Covid times, so hope you pass! Do yourself a favor and don't go here. read more

My kids went through the Drivers Education classes, behind the wheel lessons, took their drive test and Defensive Skills Day and had a great experience. The teachers were highly engaging and cared about the students and their safety. My teens learned how to recover from a skid at the DSD event which they have found very useful in Colorado. They had a blast driving through the low speed obstacle course trying to beat each other's time. They even practiced driving in reverse and parking! I highly recommend DriveSafe to families with teens who are becoming drivers. I plan to contact College Drive as my daughter prepares for the ACT next year and decides what college she wants to attend. read more

The only issue I have is the no refund policy. We started the program and all was going well. However my teen was diagnosed with a rare genetic Neurodegenerative disease and driving is not safe, nor is it an option in the future. So on top off all the stress this tragic news has caused. What an awful experience! I payed 70 dollars to be treated like shit by driving instructor Mike Alessi. When I first arrived for my appointment I climbed the two flights of stairs to the office only to be told to go back down because he was finishing up with a mother and son, and he didn't want me to hear anything that could "help me with my test." I went back down to the bottom floor and waited by the door to be called up. He called me after a few more minutes only to let me sit while he completed paperwork and chatted with the mom and son. He had a very superior demeanor, even with the boy's mother, but there is no way to get your money back from this company if you don't cancel a day ahead. I tried to talk to Mike after we were alone, only to be told that anything I said to him would prejudice him against me. Huh? I thought these testing centers were supposed to create a friendly atmosphere. You could at least try to be as nice as the actual DMV! I was also told that the driving instructor could not speak to me during our driving test, except to give commands. There is no such rule, he is just a very unfriendly guy! This company has you use their vehicle rather than your own, which didn't seem like an issue when I signed up, but the car has a tiny back window and does not appear to be well maintained. The car's check engine light was on, and one of the turn signals was blinking quickly, usually a sign a bulb is out. I mentioned this to him only to be blown off and told everything was fine. Long story short, he failed me at the drive test. I know this will sound like sour grapes, but this guy was aggressive toward me from the first to the last. When we got back to the office after the test, he proceeded to critique my driving bit by bit in the most unfriendly way possible. I was docked for pulling too close to a car at a stop light. He said that he could not see the car's wheels touching the ground. I questioned this being a valid deduction, and he could not find such a rule in the Colorado driving manual. I think this company needs to take a solid look at itself. What percentage of drivers are failed by certain testers? Is it because they think you will retest with them for an extra $40? No way! I went to Learn to Drive the next day and had a great experience. Do NOT go here, and if you do, ask who your instructor will be. If they say Mike, run!
