This place was great. They were able to get me in the day I called and after explaining what was going on with my car and that I needed a second opinion they were happy to help. Not only were they quick and accommodating but they saved me over $500 with their findings. They also fixed a small hose that was slightly cracked free of charge. Like I said I had been told what the issue might be and was told it was going to be $700 if not more at another shop. But after doing a little research the numbers and problem didn't match the cost of repairs. Car worked on: 2012 Honda Civic CNG The car suddenly had trouble starting on Sunday, which makes it a hassle to find any service and help. I'm not from the area and was visiting so I wasn't familiar with any local mechanics or shops. After a quick search I called up Jim and he answered the phone, was easy to talk to, and I had the car towed there. We sat down, he asked me questions to see what the problem(s) might be, and let me know they wouldn't be able to get it done that day because they were already booked which was very understandable since this was all very last minute. We both thought it's probably the starter but he took his time to explain he would do some testing to narrow down the issue and make sure it was solved. He called me up the next day, let me know they confirmed it was the starter, let me know the estimate (which was exact to the total I was charged) and called me a couple hours later to let me know the car was ready for pickup. If you work on cars, you know what kind of tedious and frustrating work is involved in changing a starter especially in small engine bay, front wheel drive cars. They weren't looking for a quick buck, and they provided me with a quick turn around time with a great price to get my car back up and running. Terrible! I called in and asked for an oil change. The owner said he could do the next day at 4pm. I show up at 3:50 pm and he tells me " Oh I can get you in tomorrow". It was a Friday of a 3-day weekend, at 5 pm. Thirty-five minutes from our destination, we encountered a problem with our Dodge 2500. By chance, we found this very reliable and honest shop. We left the truck for a morning diagnostic and Ubered the rest of the way to our hotel. We were fully prepared to rent a car and leave the truck for the week so the shop could repair it. However, early Saturday morning, the mechanic called and said the wheel hubs and front suspension needed to be repaired. IF the mechanic could obtain parts, the truck would be done and ready to be picked up by 5 pm. It was done by 3:30 pm and at a VERY reasonable price. We can not express how grateful we were to have found My Mechanic Automotive. We hope this shop does well, and we are sad that they are not closer to us. read more

My family of 5 was headed to Carlsbad this weekend and my 2012 Honda Odyssey failed us. The check charging system light came on and within 5 minutes everything electrical in the car was malfunctioning or out and the car was lurching in a frightening way. Pulled off the road and called AAA but had no idea where to take it. I ended up calling and Jim replaced the alternator for us. It's only been a couple of days but so far so good, the car is running fine (now about those other issues, Honda!). I'd definitely recommend Jim @ My Mechanic. I'm 72 years of age and know a good amount about cars. I own a 1966 Mustang which was having a problem with the car stalling after you put it in gear when it's cold . The fast idle is working but I needed to have some adjustments made to the carburator. I called "My Mechanic" to have some one come out and resolve the problem. The mechanic they sent out specialized in foreign cars and was not familiar with older cars and with carburators. They charged me $89.95 and all they did was turn up the idle which I could have done myself. This did not solve the problem. When I called them back and explained that nothing had been fixed, they said "I'm sorry but that's the charge for coming out and making any recommendations. These people misrepreseted themselves and are dishonest. I would strongly not RECOMMEND them to anyone. read more
