I went to this shop to have my muffler checked because I had a loss of power and a loud noise when I stepped on the gas. They inspected the entire muffler and said the muffler is good. Recommended I take ut to Nissan to see if there's a recall and run a diagnostics. I really appreciate the honesty and advice. Just got some work done here to get a bung welded onto my front pipe, and ended up paying way over for what other shops considered reasonable for a 10-20 minute job. I didn't realize until after the job was finished and had called other shops for quotes just how much I overpaid. For drilling and welding a bung (mind you already supplied by me as well as the pipe already being off the car) others quoted $40 for a job complete, here they originally requested $80, then bumped it up to $100, more than double what others are asking for. It's a shame that it seems like they just wanted to take advantage of an unexpected local and get the quick buck. Learn from my mistake and don't get taken advantage of, get quotes from other shops first hand before doing the job. If they quote you one thing then bump it up with no reasoning, go else where. I'll be taking welding jobs to reasonable shops in Oceanside from now on. read more

They're open later than other shops and were super friendly and nonjudgmental after I brought my car in with the skid plate dragging on the ground after hitting something. They promptly got my car on the risers and took the plate off and replaced the clips. I was in a pinch and needed my car fixed quick and these guys did it not only quickly, but also for a low price. I started hearing scraping when I was driving my minivan and it got progressively worse each time I hit the brakes so I knew I had to bring it into a shop. I called around and found Heras. From the beginning they were very open to checking out the problem and getting it fixed the same day. Really thankful I brought the car in to have them repair it because the whole brake system needed to be replaced. One of the brake pads have been worn down to the metal and was damaging the disc another caliper was missing a bolt and ready to fall off. All in all they took care of the minivan and now it drives and brakes as smoothly as ever. read more

You get what you pay for I guess. I got a muffler delete for my car. My car has a single exhaust down the center into a muffler and then the muffler splits to a dual exit. I asked if they could remove the muffler and install a premade "Y" and then extend to the exit. They said they didn't have a "y" and they didn't need it, and would make it work. I figured they knew what they were doing so I let them get to work. More than 2 hours later and over an hour past closing, they were finished. At idle the car sounded normal. AS SOON as I got on the highway and put my foot down I was dumbfounded. My car sounded like a TRAIN!! And it was LOUD. I wish Yelp would let me post a video to show the sound. Again, it was FAR past closing on a Saturday night; I figured they would be gone, and I wanted to go home so I came back a few days later. They checked out the car for any exhaust leaks. They told me there was a little leak and they had fixed it. Took my car on a test drive. Still sounded like a train whistle. I was told that was the turbo making that noise and there was nothing they could do as it was a normal characteristic of the car and they sent me on my way. I've worked on cars for many years, chopped the mufflers oof of many, and I have NEVER heard a car sound like this. It was embarrassing to even drive the car. People would look at me every time I took off from a light. I had to go to another shop and pay again to get my muffler put back on. The other shop I went to cut the muffler delete out and when we looked inside it was clear what the issue was. They half-ass cut a hole in the side of the exhaust and welded another piece to it to make a "y" but they essentially created a literal whistle inside my exhaust. It would've been fine if they used a pre-manufactures Y like I had requested. How these car "experts" did this shoddy work is beyond me. You have to be really talented to make a massive whistle. I wouldn't let them touch my car again with a 10ft pole. read more

When my muffler on my vintage 1985 Westfalia fell off on Palomar Airport road, I called Garfield at Heras Auto Shop. He immediately identified the problem and instead of selling me on a whole new pipe system, which I didnt yet need, hecame up with a creative yet much better pipe than what I had before, basically saving me hundreds of dollars and my van has never sounded more butter. jeez im so impressed, SERIOUSLY!!!!!. i called doing some weekend research mid day Saturday, Got a ballpark quote from Heide over the phone. I am ashamed to say that talking to a woman over the phone about my car was a little ummmm.... well awkward. Ill tell you this, Heide really knows her shit and doesn't hesitate to get into the pit and get burnt with 2000 degree molten metal sparks, she is the real deal, manicure and all!! CAR = 2001 Jaguar XJ8 stock system is all straight through and stainless - whisper quite and some of the pipe was crimped and smashed around the rear axle.. Result with cat back, 2.25 pipe and wicked flow muffs and tips: ahhhh the sound is oh sooooooo bitchen quite inside the car on freeway. outside it sounds like it has an evil side!!! im hoping for 5-10 mpg on hwy. Mikey was out at lunch when I came by - Heide called and he cut his lunch short to come give me a F R E E estimate! He looked, we looked, he said i didnt need the crap i thought i did, Heide already had my tip picked out ( she rocks), and they gave me a solid price. Of course it was M U C H more than I expected based on prev cat back systems. So we talked, negotiated, and I swear they knocked a couple hundred bucks off. it took like 3.5 hrs for Mikey to mandrel bend all the stuff b/c he was increasing the pipe size and it made it way more tighter. I was under the car several times and I swear I had N O idea it was such a tough job I dont think I would have even tried to negotiate the price had I realized it was such a pain!!!! I have another vehicle that they will do!!!! so the results if you can wrap your mind around this...... El Patron came buy to check on the job and to kiss his daughter, and the family was working late b/c of my job. He asked me several times if i wanted some comida (food) because it was taking a long time..... im thinking W T F ????? so really i politely declined Of course being the gentlemen that he IS he brought me back some rolled tacos in guacamole!!!!! I took my '09 Jaguar XF Supercharged into Garfield last week and was very pleased with the entire experience. He gave me an honest and timely quote upfront and stuck to it. Typically auto shops get a bad rap. You won't get that here!!!! I literally drove my car until I had no brakes and busted my rotors, basically I ran this car into the ground. As we had taken my little sisters car here a month ago for a new starter, I knew this was going to be the place to go. Called them up Saturday morning , Garfield was more than friendly over the phone and gave me a basic run down as to what to expect cost wise. 15 mins later I'm dropping off my keys to the kindest family. They also went so far as to offer me a ride home, which I had to decline numerous times as I live across the street. Within 2 hours I was getting a call on the rundown and an estimate of what was needed to make my car safe. The price fell right into what I expected per our telephone conversation earlier with an expected finish time of Mon. ( due to the severity of my car issue parts needed to be ordered) On Monday I get a text that the work as discussed was finished. Garfield was also so kind to send me pictures of all the new parts installed on my vehicle. However, upon the test drive he noticed a knocking sound that was not noticeable over the grinding of metal on metal from the brakes. He inspected the car again and found a big problem that if broken could have potentially caused me to lose control of my car. He sent a video of the issue, gave me a very reasonable quote with a promise that it would still be finish on time. A couple hours later I get an update and new video of a perfect repair. The ride home was so smooth and quite . I cant remember the last time I didnt hear a groan or a squeek coming from this beast of a car. In all, Garfield was amazing at giving me step by step updates and in the loop on the process. The work done quickly and the cost was well worth the service we recieved. Called to schedule an appointment to install an after market exhaust system on my 97' Spyder GST. Making an appointment was easy and simple. The system was supposed to be a direct bolt on but unfortunately things were not so and did not line up properly. The guys here helped me install it by cutting/welding as necessary for a reasonable fee. They were clear with explaining and pointing out what needed to be done to ensure a proper install and were very upfront and nice about it. Had a problem with my s10 was lowered and my front pipe was damage so I stop at there new location on 538 Olive ave Garfield put it on the lift and and have me 2 different estimates one replacing the whole front pipe and other fixing the same one so that's very great so not only that I told Garfield that I went and look for them at there old location on s Santa Fe and not only that he have me a super deal on fixing the same pipe but he have me a a 25 dollar credit to used by coming to his new location that's super great Garfield did a super great job once the work was done he showed me the final work and he retight the front pipe cause I had my transmission replaced by some one also and the oxygen sensor and he didn't charge me for that so that's very good and took it to smog and it passed I'm very happy customer thank you so much Garfield I totally will recommend you guys to my friends and family read more

Would not recommend to anybody. Dont be fooled by the custmer service and warranty they give you on the work they perform. I took my car because it had 3 major issues. I got a quote from the so called Don's son whome supposedly diagnosed. He called me saying it was ready so i went and payed the guy only so that he can then tell me i needed to rebuit my motor and was still having issues. I threated to sue because he had recieved payment for work that was supposedly fixed. He supposedly fixed issue after but with no warranty what so ever . Court date is still pending for warranty. Couldnt fool me. read more
