After the smell of brake pads and some smoke appeared while towing on I-5, I called Driveway Mechanic and had a short call then we communicated through text message. Walt did a remote diagnostic and showed up ready to do two separate jobs. It ended up being a cracked front brake piston as well as a damaged rotor due to heat. This was Sunday afternoon of spring break. The work was professional, quick once on site, and a trip saver. The price was high, but fair given the circumstances. I hope to not need Walt again for a while, but I would gladly call him first when the time comes. read more

Had a water pump replaced due to a suspected leak. After it was replaced, I drove the car and there was still a leak. I was told the mechanic idled the engine after replacement and no leak was detected. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called Walt and he told me I didn't request an evaluation to determine where the leak was coming from, just to replace the water pump. So that is the service they performed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He told me they could charge me for another service call to evaluate the leak. I would have thought they would have run the car, determine the source of the leak, and evaluated if it was in fact the water pump. Nope! Just replace the pump, idle the car, call it good.
