We breed goats at our farm in Wimer and were on our way to a show in CA when a brake locked on the trailer and wore a tire down to the rim. We stopped at the Standard station across from Milo's shop at 7:30 AM with a trailer full of goats. Milo arrived at his show before 9 and got right on it. He replaced the tire, the seized wheel bearing, repaired the damage brake shoes and checked the electric brake function. We were back on the road before 11. That kind of service is hard to find. We have had problems with rodent damage. They had set up house inside the evaporator coils in our new Toyota Tundra. We used Milo rather than the dealer. It was a major repair, very expensive, but necessary. I trust his work and am satisfied with the result. He has done timing belt replacement, several AC service and repairs, oil changes and numerous won't start / won't hold a charge / windshield wipers won't wipe / heater hose blown and several general tune-ups. The combination of AAA and Milo has taken care of our general auto repair needs ever since we moved here from CA. If you're looking for smartly dressed technicians with framed certificates on the wall, two-tier Snap-On tool rollaways, spotless facilities with coffee and snack bar, loaner vehicles, computer gurus and front-end sales "associates", go to Toyota/Chevrolet/Ford/Honda etc. These people are down-home grimy-handed mechanics. No more, no less. Incidentally, I am NOT the D Norton in a previous review.

I read the review about the guy having to pee and I thought been there done that!…read more My frame of mind was different. I just finished a really great breakfast at Patti's diner next door and need to fill up before heading up to Crater Lake. I pulled in and noticed there was no cried card mechanism attached to the pump and suddenly a blond in short blue jean hot pants and a tank top walks up, smiles affectionately and offers to pump my gas. It was for real. She did the windows too. I thought it had been easily 30 years since I had that experience. Thanks Gold Hill and Gold Hill Auto Center and Daisy May whoever you are!

I guess they probably get that question a lot because this whole town seems to have no public restrooms. All I needed was someone to say "restrooms for customers only" and I would have gladly bought something. Maybe even their expensive gas. I *really* had to go pee. My girlfriend and I stopped in town briefly to buy some snacks and use the restroom while on our road trip (I drank too much coffee). I couldn't seem to find a place that would let us use the restroom, so after about 30mins in town, we left without buying anything. I usually try to buy something if I use the restroom, especially for any small, local businesses. I get impassioned about this because as a small business owner myself, I feel like you should make at least a minimal effort to make customers happy. Being rude before I even have a chance to pull out my wallet is a great way to not do that. I think in the future I'm going to pick out some items first, then ask at the counter if they have a bathroom. If they say no, I'll just put the stuff back and leave. That way it will be more obvious that bathrooms are a valuable service to customers! Oh and the price of gas made me think I was in California for a moment, but no, still in Oregon. ok. /end rant.

It is truly unfortunate that after 3 cars, and 19 years of great service while Star was under…read moreprevious ownership I am now writing this 1 Star review. I had triple A tow my car to Star on 10/27/25. I gave them a call in advance and let them know I would be sending it there and stated what had happened. For full context, I was exiting the free way in central point there was a small box in the middle of the road and I had not choice but to slow down and go over it. My car being an Alfa Romeo Giulia sits low and something was pulled out of the bottom of my car and it immediately lost all power steering. I was able to pull to the side at the very end of the ramp. No body damage at all, car was still drivable but no power steering. The tow truck drivers were able to drive it into the flatbed themselves. Zach from Star automotive s initial quote 10/27/25 totaled $10,054.53. See pic and note Quote 1. (This quote will dramatically change once insurance adjuster is involved) 4 quotes later, 2 subcontracted dealerships, a broken fuel module that made my car completely underivable, and no answers from Zach or Austin about what happened. The insurance claims adjuster, the service manager in Portland and the technicians all agree in writing that my car was not drivable when it was brought in and that someone clearly damaged the fuel module brought the car in with zero fuel, and then tried to cover it up ...the technician stated "it was hanging off when I saw it". Zach blamed this entire incident on a recall. Once again in writing the alfa Romeo dealership states this was not possible. I did not accuse Zach or Star right away when I was presented with all the evidence and facts...I called Zach and sent him the email from the service manager who he spoke with and checked my car in with. I simply wanted an answer, and a solution to this issue. It's Friday 4:47pm 2/27/26 my car is 246 miles away one way. The additional cost is $1113.31. I just wanted my car back. When I went down to Star after my phone call with Zach to simply discuss this in person...they said Paul is on vacation and that there was nothing they could do for me. I said I wanted to believe Zach wouldn't take advantage of me knowing how hard things were already finically ....Austin and Zach made many excuses that were not only unreasonable and impractical explanations for this incident but Austin then proceeded to yell at me and threatened to call the police on me. To the owner Paul...I know you are not aware of any of this, and from one business owner to another I am truly sorry this is what your employees are doing behind your back representing your business. I could have chosen a statefarm preferred shop, but due to my past experiences with Star, Dave specifically when he was there I chose your shop. Paul please contact me regarding this matter. I do have more documents and a video of my encounter with Zach and Austin this evening if you'd like to see to give you a full perspective. I will not upload all the documents, videos I have at the moment I will leave a thorough review in full after this claim has been closed out. I look forward to our conversation Paul and I have high hopes that you will make this disappointing situation right. Thank you Hi Paul I appreciate your quick response even with you being out of town. My car is ready to be picked up in Portland and both the shop and insurance claims department need to be notified as to what the plan is. I can not wait until March 20th. The car has been gone since October and I have to have this closed out and picked up no later than Tuesday 3/3/26. I can email you all documents, videos, emails and correspondence I have from the shop. I'm sure Zach has Alfas phone number as well. Just ask for Katherine she is the Service manager. Again, appreciate your fast response and attention to this situation.
