Bob even fit us in last-minute when my son forgot to schedule his final driving lesson before his driving test at the DMV, and Bob was incredible helpful and made time for him after hours. I passed my test yesterday after 3 lessons with Bob. He's a great instructor, very calm and reassuring! I learned to drive in the UK and had never driven in CA, only ever on the other side of the road and with very different rules! When my test was suddenly rescheduled after it was covid cancelled back in April, i needed an instructor quickly after one terrible lesson from my husband! In response to Bobs comment: Yes, We had a good first two hour session which is why i was surprised by how you were with me when I said I dont think I can do the lane change then. Especially when you raised your voice at me and snapped When I said I could not do it. If you did not want me to change lanes right away then why did you yell at me when I was not comfortable changing lanes at that time? I communicated and said I could not do it yet. I thought you would run me through it and wait til I was comfortable to lane change (I blocked out and forgot what to look for for a second and had a poor judgement) but instead you kept pointing at the rear view mirror and asked what the notes say. At that point I had to calm myself down because I was very upset and did not want us to get in an accident. I do hope you consider my review so that wont happen again especially to an already-nervous newbie driver. Even though we have been on the freeway a few times, like I mentioned I still get nervous like any other new drivers who are learning to drive. And yes you are right. I changed instructors because my previous instructor kept flaking out on me and I had to hire a nanny for that day which was frustrating when he does not show up but otherwise, I would have continued the lessons with the previous instructor instead. ------------------------------------------------ Today was my second driving lesson with Bob and I am very disappointed that we had to cancel the rest of my lessons. On our way back home we took the highway and he wanted me to practice my lane changes. I mentioned to him before we got on the highway that I get nervous driving there. He made me change lane a few times which I did until one time when I told him I was unsure I could do it and he snapped at me. He scolded me like I was a kid who messed up big time. He told me it is a very SIMPLE lane change so why can't I do it. He then proceeded to point in the side view mirror a few times to tell me to read what it said and he read it loud. I am very disappointed because 1. He scolded me for an unnecessary changing of lanes. 2. I wanted to change lane when I was comfortable and feel like it was safe for me to do so. It may be simple to someone who has driven for awhile but not to first time drivers who are very nervous driving especially at the highway. 3. Snapping like that to newbie drivers especially at highways is not a good idea because it makes the driver nervous even more. I had to calm myself down and told myself we were already on our way home and to calm down. Otherwise I would've just stopped right then and there because his reaction was surprising and upsetting. He was also on the phone all the time resulting in him asking me to change lanes/make turns at circumstances where it wasnt safe and I had to tell him no in which he agreed as well. I think he'll do great at drivers who already has experience driving but not with the ones who are new to driving and are nervous. read more

He's the best driving coach I've ever had- speaking of previous experience with multiple driving instructors. The first lesson we had a lesson near the dmv(Normal st) where I planed to take my road test. Bob was helpful and very responsible. He made sure that I corrected all my errors and practiced till I was extremely comfortable driving around that area. He is the type of coach you need if you want to pass a road test with the first try. He knows all the routes that dmv instructors can take you on around San Diego, and will take you practice in the exact set up as the real exam. I can't recommend him more! Best coach ever!! I come from China with a Chinese driver license. I know nothing about the driving rules in California. At the beginning, I went to DMV by myself, however, there were a lot of obstacles in that process. I had to get back to home, tired and sad. Everthing was solved when I met Bob. He told me the process of getting a driver license, took me to writing test and gave me many useful instructions. After passing the writing test, he told me the differences between the traffic rules in China and US. For example, he told me when I should stop if I want to turn right in the intersection. First of all he showed up promptly at the time we'd set all 3 times and perfectly planned the drives to 2 hours showing me the route and area of the local DMV's.
