Yes, Drovers is know for their wings, however, they have other amazing food. The salmon salad is one of my favorites. The history and eclectic decor of the Inn are a few other reason to stop and dine. Drovers Inn is not only a place to stop at for dinner but an experience. Update! Order take out and they forgot our dessert. The owner, Mark, delivered them to our house. Not many places do that!!! read more

If I had one last meal, it would be Drovers! The jalapeño bottle caps are an excellent starter to be followed by the excellent wings. I've had almost every flavor but original hot is by far the best. However, word to the wise is to CALL AHEAD! Otherwise you are looking at a 2 hour wait . The restaurant is very small and somewhat cramped but you'll overlook it for the food. read more

Got wings there for pick up, one large order of buffalo-garlic and one large hot. The wings were great, and I really enjoyed the nice amount of crispyness. When i got them home they were still hot and juicy. The sauces were nice. The hot was not that hot, more like a medium. So if you want real spice, go even higher. My son had the ribs, my husband had the New York strip steak, and I had the filet mignon. My filet was done to perfection, the accompanying Cole slaw was a little too creamy for my taste, but the salad was better than average. My husband found his steak to be underdone for his taste although they did ask us to check to see if the steaks were done enough before we ate. He didn't so his bad. Our son liked the ribs of course, he's easy to please when it comes to ribs. Service was very good. Ambiance was very pleasant. It was quiet on a Wednesday night. I thought about ordering the extra crispy wings as some had mentioned, but I'm glad I didn't, as they were plenty crispy. Very good wings, among the best I've had for sure. But the apps I tried weren't that amazing (sampled the chili cheese fries, bottle caps, and fried pickles, and the pickles were the only one I might get again but not the best I've had). I doubt I'd make the trip again just for the wings. read more

Seventeen years ago I never had eaten hot wings before until my future husband took me on a date to Drovars Inn and ever since we've tried to go back at least once a month sometimes more. We have taken our family and friends had large groups and service was always friendly and prompt. Wings are sold by the lb unlike other food chains serving tweety bird wings and charging by the piece. Wings are always crispy never fatty and slimy like Quaker steak who refuse to cook till crispy when requested. The Inn is quite cozy even though the atmosphere is loud. If you want to have a peaceful romantic date in the winter the room w/ a fireplace is the best! YOU must make reservations ahead especially for the weekend. There menu is more then wings! They have several Apps, Sandwiches, Dinners and don't forget the SMOKER! Everything we have ever had was cooked to perfection and great value you can be sure you'll be taking some home! read more

I have one word for this place: AMAZING. the service is great and everyone there is super friendly, sure I know pretty much know all of their employees and 3 members of my family work there but they treat you very well and the food is really good too. I usually get appetizers for my meal because the appetizers are just delicious. I highly recommend sitting in the basement area depending what your preference is. it's a little dark down there and more laid back upstairs is more of a dressy place I feel anyways and that's just my style haha but altogether it's a really good place to go for good food. read more

Always a fun experience, the food is awesome, the service is good, the prices are reasonable and the holiday buffets are delicious and fun. It's a little cramped and the basement bar is musty but it is easily overlooked when you are greeted with a smile and fed some really terrific food! Worth the drive from "anywhere". read more

Drover's used to be THE place to go for wings. They were the best. In recent years they have raised their prices multiple times. The wings now have very little meat on them. The food is expensive and the quality is just not worth the high prices. You have to have reservations or the wait time is 45 minutes to one hour. If you want good wings I would suggest Longhorn Steakhouse. It is sad that we will never be returning to Drover's. At one time it was our favorite restaurant. read more

Two pounds are plenty for an average diner. All the flavors are great, but if you are a wing-lover, go with one of the Buffalo temps. The cheese fries are a must. The cheddar cheese hardens atop a basket of waffle or steak fries. If you want to order like a veteran... ask for the fries to come out early accompanied by a side of honey BBQ sauce for dipping. I always order Two-Pounds of Hot and a pound of Honey BBQ to-go. The dining room upstairs is uniquly tucked in the shell of an old home. It's perfect for larger groups -- and the ambiance is a talking point for first timers. If you're going with just a couple pals or with your Mrs. -- I highly recommend the basement bar. It's dark, rustic and always packed. Like a great movie -- I don't want to give away too much in the preview. This place is worth the drive for diner from any surrounding city. 30 minutes from Wheeling. About an hour from Pittsburgh. I want to start off by saying that I reserve my 5-star ratings for only those places that I consider to have the absolute best in any given category. For hot wings, Drover's is head and shoulders above any other wing establishment, and it really isn't close. Everytime I travel here, there is at least one moment where I think to myself, "Wow, I wish so-and-so were here to experience this." Tucked into the hills of West Virginia's northern panhandle, the Inn itself is an absolute treat and adds to the allure. The main floor has a charming dining room which is perfect for larger parties. They have recently added a rear dining area and bar which does not quite fit with the rest of the 1848 farmhouse. I usually try to avoid this area in order to appreciate the entire package. If I have my choice, I immediately head straight for the basement bar. An 1800's cellar bar with countless mugs hanging from the low-hanging ceiling provide the perfect environment for what are the best wings you will ever have in your life. You feel as if you are transported back in time for the simple task of enjoying a fine pint with friends. None of these reviews are exaggerating. Grab a bucket of wings, fried-dill pickles, cheese fries, and a beer. Worry about your coronaries later, and enjoy transcendence. read more

The first time I had wings in my life it was here, while visiting my husband's family (I used to be vegetarian). I loooooved them and thought "Wow, I guess I really like wings". Then I kept ordering them at other places and was disappointed and confused. I realize now what happened. Drover's has the literal absolute best wings on the face of the planet and I didn't know I was starting with the best. Know what else they have the best of? Steak fries. Honestly, I love everything about Drover's. I live in Brooklyn now, the hippest place on earth, and if Drover's was there I'd go all the time. This place is not "good for a small town", it's NYC good. It's better than NYC good because I've never had wings that good in NYC. I also love the basement bar. It's kind of German beer cellar-y, but cozier and really unique. Good beer selection (for a small town, not for Brooklyn, of course). Perfect wings, amazing cheese fries and a great atmosphere. Drover's is a little bit off the beaten path in what seems to be an old house decorated with relics from years gone by. They call themselves an Inn, and if lodging were available, it would definitely play the part of a country inn on the road to somewhere. The downstairs features what i picture when i hear about pubs in "the old country": low rafters, mismatched tables, beer steins hanging off the ceiling. it's a great place, but you will find yourself eating many more cheesefries than you though possible! read more

Ok, so the wings are amazing, obviously, as so many previous reviewers have already said. Let me clue you on to a lesser-known treasure: the deep fried ravioli. Crispy on the outside, gooey and slightly spicy on the inside. Dip them in the side of cocktail sauce provided (weird, but it works.) You'll forget the wings even exist. Well I have to say, the hype surpassed my first time experience. We stopped in at 3pm on a Sunday because we were in the vicinity after dropping our daughter off at Bethany soccer camp and thought we would give it a try. We were asked if had "reservations" we said no and then got the feeling that we were not welcome. After a 5 minute wait we said" we can just order some wings to go and they said it was no problem to seat us. The restaurant was at about 25% capacity. We were escorted passed the front nicely decorated and quaint parlor rooms to a back cafeteria style room. The floors were tile, plywood walls and it had 2 televisions with battling infomercials blaring on each of them. All the while, having folks come in through a back door passed our table. The waitress took our drink order. We got a few soft drinks and I ordered a Long Island. I had to send it back. The sours and sweets actually burned my mouth and it looked like lemonade. I kindly asked for another with less sour. A second one was brought out with no less sour, but a bit more Coke added to change the color. Not wanting to complain anymore, I convinced myself that the melting ice would tone it down.. I was wrong but forced it down anyway and now have the mouth ulcers to prove it. So now comes the wings... we ordered a mild, hot and a hot garlic. They were a bit larger which was good and had a nice crunch but very dry. About a tablespoon of the delicious sauce was all at the bottom of the bowl. I had to empty all of the wings out just to get to it. I would probably go back but with reservations this time and request seating in the areas that makes the Drovers Inn, the Drovers Inn. An historic, cozy restaurant adapted into a 1840's farm house. I have heard about this place for years and finally went for the famous wings. Wonderful! It lived up to its great reputation in every way. I hate most wings--slimey, drippy, rubbery. NOT--Drovers are crispy outside and perfectly cooked inside. Done, not dry. The hot aisian sauce is great. Got mine on the side to be safe. Perfect like Thai chili. Steak fries with cheese/bacon perfectly done. My friend enjoyed mild sauce on the side and waffel fries. All foid served piping hot To top it off, the atmosphere is great, from tge restored 1840s main building and small rustic dining areas to the outdoir covered porch for dining. The service was OK and I'm sure it wasn't the waitresses fault because the place was packed, like to the point that I was thinking they were well over capacity. It was a 25 min wait for our table and another 30 mins or more to get our food after we ordered it. People beside us were seated a good 10 mins after us got Their wings before us even tho we ordered way before they did. I would go back there again. read more
