With our complimentary cocktails!

STEPH JUDGEMENT: A great drunken party, with a side of Shakespeare. We got some discount tickets through a friend and it seemed like a theater experience right up our alley, as we are not theater people. The theater itself was small and guerilla-style, with seating around the room and the "stage" being the floor in the middle. We were offered a complimentary small cocktail upon arrival and were encouraged to drink throughout the night, as befitting the name of the production. The gimmick here is that one of the leads has to do 4 shots of vodka at the beginning of the play, and possibly 2 more shots during the performance, by the pleasure of the "king and queen" (2 people who opted to pay more $$ to sit in the special seats). The play of the night was Romeo & Juliet, and our Romeo dutifully downed the 4 shots and we were off to the races. All the actors play multiple parts, and everyone was great, we were especially impressed with the guy who played Mercutio and the priest, who had some amazing acrobatic moves and put the sexy in sexy priest when he doffed his habit to grind along to Ginuwine's "Pony", a la Magic Mike! During the performance there were some stopping points, where the king and queen rang a little bell and had Romeo drink some more, which they did. I mean, why wouldn't you? Needless to say, it was total mayhem, but it was really fun and we had a great time. If you're up for some very irreverent Shakespeare, this is for you.

Went and saw the Halloween special drunk Dracula. This show was absolutely hilarious. Loved it so much and I liked how they were interactive with the audience. Great comedy show.

Colloquially, it's an absolute hoot! Bawdy, hilarious and an incredibly intimate atmosphere with theatre characters we all grew up with. We bought tickets based on a rec from an old work colleague. His wife was playing Juliet and It was a delightful way to spend our last night in NYC. Would go again!

Wonderful performance and great little venue. They keep it funny, fun and short enough not to get annoying. Drinks are slow but for this kind of event reasonably priced. I would absolutely recommend.

The show was so entertaining that I saw it twice this past weekend. Service was great and the staff was attentive. The cast was versatile and excellent with their characters and improvisation. Not your typical Shakespearean play but definitely one fitting for the times we are in. I would highly recommend this production if you're looking for something fun and different to watch.

Ehhh the reviews were good on Google and yelp. It was $29 on Groupon. It wasn't that funny to be honest. they are lucky I didn't pay full price. I would've been totally pissed. Also the drinks were $20 and there was no liquor in it at all so this is just a ploy to get you to come by drinks at the bar. The lady comes around with the last call sign when it's almost over but why buy non-alcoholic drinks I don't think the actors are really drinking. It wasn't funny to me, but to each his own.

If you're not necessarily a fan of Shakespeare, but your wife is then Drunk Shakespeare is a definite win/win compromise. First off everyone is offered a shot on the way in. That's a positive start right there. The drinks are a bit pricey, but hey you are in New York so get over yourself and enjoy. There is drink service right to your seat throughout the show. There's also not a bad seat anywhere within the cozy little performance area. Finally the performers are just fun people enjoying what they are doing. Plenty of energy and plenty of laughs. I was so pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. Keep up the great work Drunk Shakespeare.

Total chaos, super funny, with a bit of everything. Improv at it's finest is the only way to describe it. Your ticket comes with a shot included ( it is drunk Shakespeare after all).I honestly did not remember Macbeth storyline since I read this ages ago in high school. I went with zero expectations, and it was honestly such a unique fun experience. Balcony seats are best in this small library theater, but that's my personal preference. Get the Groupon and save some $$. Bring your friends and prepare to laugh so hard. Definitely do it at least once.

Ask the Community - Drunk Shakespeare

Is it 21+?

Yes!

How expensive are drinks during the show? I bought floor seating and don't want to break the bank even more.

We got 2 drinks and chips for $35

What's the dress code?

I wore nice jeans and a flowy top. Some are more dressed up. Just wear comfy shoes as you climb a lot of stairs.

What's the best seating?

Floor seating is fun if you enjoy interacting with the cast but is a little more $$

Has anyone been able to successfully redeem their yelp deal? I have gottenno response from venue or?

I would hop on Groupon and grab that deal instead. It's a way better deal and I can vouch that it works.

Is the Late show different from the other show times?

All the shows are different in what is depicted. You could go to the show three different times and see different things, and that's what makes it unique.

1. Do they serve food or should we plan on eating dinner before the show? 2. Any dinner spot…

They do have light snacks available for purchase but no real food, so plan for dinner before or after!

Do they ever do anything other than MacBeth?

I have seen it twice, 2015 and 2017, both times were Macbeth and the same drunk actor. I think they do change drunk actors but not sure how often. They were suppose to add a second play but not sure if that has happened yet.

Would love to see them reenact another Shakespeare play besides MacBeth (Romeo and Juliet would be amazing).

Everybody did such a great job and I really loved Scorpius's character. Of course Tom Felton was there as the original Draco Malfoy, which is the entire reason that we came. If you want to during the play, you can order food to your seat which I thought was cool. The rest of the snacks were good for what they were. We booked through AAA and got a snack bag with popcorn water and a cursed child cup filled with Gummies. Everything was really good. The show was surprisingly modern, and completely captivating from start to finish. The energy in the theater was unreal as everyone, including celebrities, came out to celebrate Megan Thee Stallion in her final performance as Zidler. She was hilarious, quick, and owned that stage in every moment she appeared. Even though I've seen her perform on tour, it felt like such a special experience to witness. We soaked in the city, took in some sights, and of course grabbed a slice while we were there. I am beyond grateful to my husband for such an incredible and thoughtful gift. I had previously seen the touring production in West Palm Beach, Florida, but there was something magical about experiencing it in New York. The costumes were spectacular, the acting was divine, and the energy from the audience was absolutely electric. From the moment the curtain went up, I was completely captivated. The theater itself is older, so the seats aren't the most comfortable, but I actually enjoy these historic venues. They have so much character and charm that you just don't find in newer theaters. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see Moulin Rouge! on Broadway before it closes. It was a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable experience. The bathroom attendance made sure that this 'older' feeling did get cast its shadow on the patrons and for that I am grateful.

Since it was one set, they did a good job going from area to area to keep things visually interesting without breaking from the singing. Only critique was the one girl who wasn't a size 2 had on long sleeves and pants under a dress. Like...it's not that hard to dress an averaged size woman.
