Twenty-five of my family descended upon the Murdered by the Mob family last week and they could not have handled it any better than they did. It was really perfect. They managed to include almost everyone of us in some capacity, and had us all laughing from the time we arrived to the minute we left. the wait staff at the club were friendly and professional and while it is a pre-fixe menu of chicken parmigiana, pasta with vodka sauce and salad with mini cannolis for dessert , they were very happy to accommodate special dietary needs, in our case it was a severe gluten allergy and a strict vegetarian. The group of actors were so kind to take pictures with us at the end and kept us all laughing even after the show ended. We spent the whole night laughing with the actors, at the actors, at each other, at ourselves and with each other. Great silly fun! I heard it's been running for years and had never seen it so my posse and I had a night out. We dressed up and had so much fun being incorporated into the show. There was a group celebrating bachelorette night, anniversaries, birthdays and some tourists and it looks like we all had a ball. Great atmosphere in The Secret Room and a fun cast that knew how to mingle in character. read more

We went on Valentine's Day and sat VIP next to Cookie and Rocco. This is definitely a unique and fun experience. The cast never broke character throughout the show/dinner. I wouldn't go again or recommend this to a friend; however I'll start with the Pros: -Actors: fun and very committed! I had a lot of fun doing the random dance breaks with them -Food: The food was pretty good! I had low expectations from the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprise -Service: The waiter was attentive and nice (I don't understand why they cut us off more than 45 minutes to the show ending though) Cons... Storyline: OMG so bad. Like really bad and so hard to follow. Not one person in the crowd guessed the answer. It also went on way too long, it should've been 90 minutes tops, it was over two and a half hours long. There's also these random segments where they bring up people from the crowd and interview them. I got so bored during these long drawn out scenes, especially towards the end. Venue: it was so incredibly hot. My entire table was fanning themselves with the playbill. They also stuffed us in. They put the chairs on top of each other so you're literally sitting on top of the people next to you, it was really uncomfortable. Overall I wouldn't recommend this at all. A happy accident indeed. Truth be told, was searching for tickets to one show (which was sold out) and managed to score a great deal on "dinner & a show". The actors are fantastic at keeping in character, right from your entrance to your departure. Hilarity ensues and even as you try to console the grieving widow.... the Italian charm (and curses) starts to flow as you find yourself being part of the play and famiglia. The music and dancing was worked in and gave everyone a chance to cut a rug. The pasta and chicken parmigiana was actually pretty good and the cream puffs are the icing on the cake. Two of the best experiences came out of this evening.... the first was sitting amongst heroes. A table full of service women (& 3 service dogs) who just returned from Afghanistan. The second was the photo ops with cast and meeting the owner and producer. This takes theatre to a whole different level and reiterates why I prefer the smaller venues and a passion for eclectic. This is really 1 1/2 stars, but I didn't feel *right* giving this outfit just **one** star. I mean, they did try. But for the life of me I don't know how this gets such great turn out each week (I had to go on my third choice of a date because they were sold out whenever I tried to get a reservation any other time), or how I'm the only Yelp Eliter who has reviewed this. Maybe **that** should have been my first clue: Elite Yelpers know better to avoid this crap. Picture it: a spring in New York City and a wife is walking with her husband in midtown Manhattan. She notices a sign for a Murder Mystery Dinner at a restaurant she's passed several times. When she asks her husband if he'd like to check it out, he says NO WAY. So she asks some of her girlfriends to which they say YES! I guess they all figured, for $79/pop, with dinner/soft drinks/coffee included (no dessert, WTF???), that you're paying for entertainment. Well lucky for us (it's me, get over it), we found that Groupon and Living Social had regular specials - I stumbled upon a Living Social deal that was 2-for-1. My friend got one 2/$99. We decided to go together. The food was the best part. And that's not saying much. Clearly, the penne al vodka (which was ZITI al vodka) was bought at Trader Joes. The chicken parm was decent too. But I dunno, I guess it's hard to mess that up. Here's my question: No vegetarian options NOR anything for people with dietary restrictions like gluten/wheat free. I'm not either but I do understand the intricacies with those restrictions. That said, with all the a) bruschetta b) focaccia and c) more bread brought to the table, you're excluding a group that could otherwise spend money there. Not that I'd tell my vegetarian friends and/or celiac friends to go to this. It was a complete waste of money and the only reason why this isn't ZERO stars is because I did go 2 for the price of 1. Next time, someone will have to pay me. So remember that line about paying for the entertainment. Clearly, these actors are getting paid too MUCH. The actors were nice and funny in getting engaged with the audience beforehand and even during. There was NO plot. There was no rhyme or reason. Remember when we were kids, and we played the game Clue? This outfit should get one. Not the game - A CLUE! A live-action Clue I thought would have been more fun. It was the furthest thing from it. The story was haphazard. It was hard to follow. And they ask for live audience participation, meaning you have to guess who conspired in the deaths and were the killers. Fair enough but it's tough to do that when you are not given a goddamn thing to go by. They bring up random people from the audience to participate but it turns out there are a few who are involved in the acting troupe anyway. You just don't know who those folks are till they unveil the killer. This was awful. Beyond awful. Acting was terrible, jokes outdated and cheesy. And what's an Italian dinner without some kind of dessert, like Viennese table or cookies at least? I saw some people got some bakery cookies. We did not. Boo! Lastly, take a cue from Golden Girls and the "Murder on the Orient Express" episode. Trust me, you'll learn a lot more from those old bitties than you will at this thing. Oh, and furthermore, just make yourself some pasta and watch that old episode and stay at home. You'll get more out of it. Seriously, I would have been pissed off had I paid full price. Glad I didn't. But I see why this thing gets so much hype. Bridge and tunnel people, baby! No offense to my friends who DID come in from Long Island to see it. But NEVER AGAIN. PRICING: Yes you get a decent deal via Living Social but when you call to reserve they smack ya with a $15.00 pp fee on top of your tickets. Not cool! (they claim it's for service fees and tipping). FOOD: Basically they start you off with bread which I didn't get chance to eat due to the 4 pieces they and it was gone before you know it, Appetizer, is pasta in marinara sauce, followed with Chicken Parm with a tiny scoop of mash with a potato chip on top, (kid you not)... Was it bad tasting? no... but type of food you can get at a nice pizza shop for 1/3 of the price... DRINKS: Are extra and way over priced!, $11 bucks for a wine, $7 for a 12oz beer. ...enough said. SERVICE: Just ok not great, not bad that's all I can say about that. ENTERTAINMENT: The writing is bad, the storyline is bad and overall this isn't a murder mystery at all. A fun and funny time at this interactive show. From the moment we walked in the actors were in character, engaging the audience with funny small talk and meet and greets. The show is funny, silly and pure entertainment. I enjoyed every minute and the audience is definitely a part of the show, even a suspect. Dancing, the audience interrogations, singing, and the friendliness and charm of the cast made this an unforgettably fun night. Went with the fam and we had a great time. The food was pretty good! Drinks are NOT included. My only complaint is the bread was cold and the serving of pasta could have been more. The sauce on the pasta was great and the breaded chicken with sauce was very tasty. The show had good acting, everyone stayed in character. If you're shy about being called up to interact, I suggest put someone else's name on the tickets you buy. The seating here is very tight. They do fun things in-between like slow dance, line dance and a few top 40 type songs. Some of the jokes are kinda cheesy but if you're there to have fun and not be too picky you can have a good time. I give this show one star because the actors looked like they were enjoying themselves. Aside from that this was an absolute waste of time and money (not cheap!). The show should be considered a half rate "comedy dinner" and NOT a murder mystery dinner whatsoever. 80% of content was one character pretending to interview participants in the crowd while making ridiculous pop culture and penis jokes. They spent a solid 10 minutes talking about American Idol and making people sing karaoke style. I haven't the slightest clue how anyone can enjoy the show when maybe 25 minutes at best was actually on point (meaning murder mystery/stick to the storyline). Oh and the random "dance parties" we so out of place. It did seem as though 50% of the people were enjoying themselves but everyone whose attention was lost began to talk loudly making it impossible to attempt to hear whatever was going on. The sound system was miserable and the seating situation was largely disappointing. I would say 60% of the seats have a good view while the rest force you to painfully crane your neck in your tight seating to try to watch the "show." The show is not very well put togther. The storyline was hard to follow and didn't keep your attention. No clues were given for you to even come close to figuring out who commited the crime. At one point both the lights and speakers stopped working. The catering staff was unorganized as well. The food was the worst Italian food I have ever had and came out cold. Just left the venue in stamford, 01/11/19, the heat in the building was broken, 20 degrees outside, inside was so cold I and 5 others couldn't stay, right now sitting next door in a bar with heat. Will be calling tomorrow for a refund, doubt I will get one, thats why I'm writing this. Considering theres only 2 options for murder mystery dinners in the city, this one had better reviews, so we went here. I bought the groupon deal which was $90 for a couple. Good thing I did bc the show isnt worth $90pp. And the crazy thing is they also hit you with a reservation fee of $15pp!! What the heck is this for? Anyway, the show started off good...but like other yelpers said, it got old fast. There was more silly audience participation than actual acting/storyline. It got to the point where it was like "really your calling up ANOTHER audience member?!" But once it went back to the story line it was good. However, the ending was super annoying and you won't guess it unless you have attended this before. It was so out of left field, it killed the murder mystery feel of it. They should really re-do the storyline to cut back on audience participation and make a better ending. It has the potential. The food was good, they supplied the table with bread, they could be a little more generous with the bread considering the tables seat alot of people. We then had penne alla vodka as an appetizer. This was about the amount that you would get at a wedding. Then we had chicken parm with a dollop of mashed potatoes. DO NOT buy tickets for this show- it's a SCAM! I only gave two stars because the actors were okay and stayed in "character". However this entire production was NOT worth the money and it was a waste of time. I couldn't keep up with the show/ story or what was going on. Went to this show on 7/13/13 with a group and had a great time. Take the show for what it is, ENTERTAINMENT and you will have a great time. Plenty of jokes, and characters who definitely played their part. Food was okay and drinks are well poured. People will complain about any and everything, but this show continues to do great numbers with and without the Groupon vouchers (which we all took advantage of). I went to the show with ok expectations. It was my boyfriend's birthday and he was interested in doing something creative and different. When we arrived, we were seated at a party table with about 8 + loud and obnoxious people. You could barely hear the show partly because of the loud chatter and low microphone volume (which I asked to be corrected). I asked for an exchange ticket so that I may see the show on another date and have yet to receive word back after three calls. Overall, for this to be the longest running murder mystery dinner theater, I experienced poor service and presentation and my boyfriend and I ended up leaving the show early. The show was fun, but more of a comedy than a mystery. The audience is a part of the show & you do get to be an alias for the night. The parking lot across the street gives you a discount, if you validate your ticket. Good for groups & no need to get too fancy, you'll be sitting for most of the night. I went there for "Murdered by the Mob" for a friend's birthday and my friend was the highlight of the show. Full price tickets are $79, but I got a deal on GoldStar.com for $50 plus fees. This was definitely not worth $50. First of all you get there and on the table are bruchetta and duck liver mixed with veal on crostini. I cannot imagine who would want to eat the duck liver pork combination and what made the chef decide that was appropriate to serve. So appetizers were bread with those toppings and a plate with squares of plain bread. Then we got a basket of bread with dinner which was chicken parmesan and penne vodka. The chicken and the sauce were ok, but the penne seemed like it was straight out of the box, not homemade. Dessert was a tiny plate of uninspiring Italian cookies. The dinner should have cost about $15 considering it was mostly bread. I was shocked that there wasn't even salad or a piece of cake included for my friend's birthday. House wine was $11 a glass, it was ok, but hard to get a waiter's attention to order it. You would think they would be more attentive since their dinner tip is included and they need to sell drinks to make more, but once I ordered the wine it was a solid 25 minutes before he returned. I also had to ask for water for the table. I guess I should mention the show since that was the main reason we were there. It was meh at best they kept making stupid sex jokes, they fired guns a few times that made the room stink and 1/2 the show was pulling audience members up and trying to embarrass them or something. The best part of the show was when my friend, the birthday girl who dressed like a cheesey mob wife was called up and danced for the audience. My sides hurt the next day from laughing so hard. My wife and I and our friends loved our evening hanging with the Mob. It is a very interactive show and the acting is over the top but very funny. The actor who played the Detective was great at improv and really brought the audience into the show. We really had a great time and would recommend the show to anyone who loves mob movies and the genre in general. The whole cast is fun and we loved Johnny (the boss) and Cookie (his girlfriend). The food good and there are no options other than penne and Chicken Parm. There is a veggie or low carb option but you should order ahead. Wine, beer and drinks are extra. I called and was told my voucher cld not be aceepted You were booked the entire month!!!!! so i had to change plans for her Bday. I was told that you were booked for the month LMAO. Than you called and said you were cancelling a Friday show BC it wasnt to capacity? well Bob I had 4 seats and the other VIPS had seats. Seems like somehting fishey is going on,. YOU told me that you could not honor the voucher for 4???? but you wld give us VIP seats we went to the show and these VIP seats were at table 13 with all the REST OF THE VIPS" sitting behind a pol with a bonusl obstructed view. squeezed in the corner. I paid for 4 seats and got two with a crappy view. Let me begin by saying that I went to this show with no expectations after reading all the reviews here. I would have given 3 starts for this show as : The Food - was ok. The apps were sitting out for a while clearly, however the bread was good. The main entry was warm and filling. Cookies for dessert doesnt count as dessert, especially if it kind of rationed to one cooke per person. Wine was drinkable. The Show - was cheesy as expected but its the audience that make it fun and we had a fun time. The actors were friendly and made sure they mingled with all the guests. The Seating - When you have tables to seat large groups I guess there is not much you can do about making sure everyone gets a good view. I had to crane my neck to get to see anything as I was at the end of one of the tables but in the end I gave up and just listened to whats going on as it was more of audience participation than the actual play. But thats what makes the show fun, so do not expect any high class acting and you are not missing much if you don't get to see everything. The reason why I am deducting one star is due to the server. The person who took the orders was ok. However the one clearing away the plates was very rude. We had spilt a drink and had a bunch of wet napkins piled up in the middle of the table. When the person clearing away the plates came by, my friend asked him if he can take those away. I lifted up the pile of napkins to put on the stack of plates to help him out but he had to say " I have only two hands, I'll come back for this" and never came back to clear it. we had the pile of napkins reeking of alcohol sitting on the table for the rest of the evening. Will I recommend this show ? Definitely not on a full price. We were given tickets to see this show from daughter for Christmas..,, Absolutely the best present ever we had so much fun last night. You are welcomed into a very nice high quality restaurant with a cast of characters that a guaranteed to entertain you the entire time and you never know who might be seated at your table. They actually get you up and dancing as the mob ettes, We were laughing from beginning to end as everyone helped solve the crime. If you loved Tony and Tina's wedding, you will.really love this.. Sooooo much fun!!! Let's start with food, it's ok so don't expect anything spectacular. However, the show, the cast and the entire thing is super organized, so funny and just tons of fun! Make sure you interact, it just makes things more fun. don't look at the obvious people to be the murderer! Really have to read between the lines. Recommend this to anyone and everyone! read more
