So much fun. Warning this show is bawdy. Lol If you are a Shakespeare traditionalist or easily embarrassed this might not be for you. The venue is super cute, small, intimate, not a bad seat in the house, like a hidden speakeasy. The premise is to give the actor some drinks and they perform a shakespeare play. You never know what is going to happen or come out of their mouths. Lots of modern private jokes and crazy with modern twists. It is like en english improve play but with lots of booze. Ha! We laughed the whole time we were there. Sometimes you just need to get wild and crazy and giggle a lot in life. By the way, even though it is funny the actors are very talented and I am still laughing at some of the one star reviews. As if you did not know what you signed up for with that title and when you bought tickets. hahaha One woman could not find the theater and did not even call just went home. Who does that? I was super intrigued by this and SO glad we went. This show was hilarious from start to finish. It's a tiny venue and they pack everyone in. The actors were hilarious. It's cool that they give you a shot once you enter the theater. The theater is pretty small, but I'd like to think of it as intimate. The show is small in scale, but grand in experience. When you enter the theater they give everyone a shot, just to fit in with the drinking theme. When I went, there were 5 performers. So the premise is simple: performers act out scenes from a Shakespearean play (it was Macbeth when I went) with one performer taking 4 shots right off the get-go. They like to give one shot to an audience member (audience member's choice of which one to take) to prove that the alcohol is real. I just happened to be that audience member for this show. And yes... it was definitely really alcohol. Then the show commences. What ensues is a combination of rehearsed lines with some humorous improvisation from all cast members. I believe them when they say that every show is different because not only does the drunk performer change per show, but many of the jokes play off the audience and the decision from the audience. Just an awesome experience that I highly recommend! read more

I previously rated the show higher but, having gone again I am disappointed. They do advertise that the shows will be different ,I assumed different plays, but having gone twice now and both times being Macbeth, and reading other reviews all about Macbeth, I can see they only do Macbeth. Although it was still a good time, the magic was gone considering a lot of the jokes were the same. Same intro. Same impressions. Same dance. Same gimmicks and games.The actress even stripped down into the same underwear. It was disappointing. This time, being in the crowd, I got to see how over priced the food and drinks were. The hummus was a laughing stock of a portion for $12. I wish I got a picture. The popcorn was mostly crumbs and was stale and chewy. I would definitely recommend pre-gaming. And eating before. Despite all of that and knowing I can never go back again, I still recommend this business. Your first time will be awesome. My friends LOVED it. And I will always cherish my first time. All that being said, if anyone involved with the show actually cares, I do think the 2 main things hurting business are the price and the lack of show variety. You car cutting yourself off from the possibility of having return customers. Because I have gone and now 6 others, none of us can really go again and fully enjoy ourselves. They probably won't suggest doing an activity they have already done before or bring family to "this cool place they know" ESPECIALLY when tickets are like $50. Julius Caesar would be a great addition. Romeo & Juliet would also do so well. I would love to come back and see all the plays that were offered. It's a good concept! This show is amazing; like Shakespeare meets improv meets a pub crawl. Definitely not for those looking to see classic interpretations; brought my whole family including my grandparents and they weren't prepared for the raunchy bits. However, it was such a funny and well paced take on an iconic story. My fiancé and I are sober and enjoyed the mocktails with plenty of belly laughs. The theater is small and intimate, this allows for cast members to maximize the space and for cast members to interact with the audience many times throughout the 90-minute show. You are able to order drinks throughout the show. The drink menu showcased a lot of different options, their cocktails were excellent. Our group of five loved the cast and we plan to go again as they perform a different show each night. This show has lots of adult humor so leave the kids at home for this top-notch show. Overall would recommend, however I don't recommend spending more on the front row seats. The show was entertaining and it was a great Christmas gift to give. They sat us in the corner and the ladies i was with couldn't really see which did suck since I splurged on the best tickets. Drinks were good and I would go back just pick different tickets. Best hour and a half of entertainment of my life!!! That was sooooo much fun. My girlfriend, my friend, and I all have August birthdays so we decided to plan this as a girls day. It did not disappoint. This was so awesome, I can't even describe how much fun we had. I loved the improve. I loved the Shakespeare. I loved the actors. I loved the drinks. It was just amazing all around. If you are worried about the price, just splurge! It is totally worth it. They do good and drink service during the show. The actors are amazing and fun. I have never been to a show like this, and after going, I'll definitely go again. I went with my wife as something different to do and I'm glad we went. We attended the 2nd show of the night, which I've heard is the better one. We arrived 30 mins early, and we're politely asked to wait outside so that we don't hear any spoilers from the play that was currently going on. We came back at 8:45, 15 mins before the 9p show time, as advised, however we waited outside until 9p, that was a dissatisifer, but understandable; they needed to reset after the first show. Once in, we were seated quickly and surprised with the intimacy of the space. You are up close and personal with the actors, no seat is a bad seat, seriously. The play itself was a ball of fun. The actors were hilarious and did a great job of keeping the audience entertained and pivoting when needed. I personally participated in the play. This is a great thing to do if you are tired of doing the usual movie date. It would be helpful to know which play they were going to do so you don't end up seeing the same play twice, although, it would be different every time regardless. read more

No bad seats so don't think you'll miss something buying cost effectively. Also, we got upgraded to stage side upon arrival, so that was nice! WARNING: They treat this like a speakeasy and it is hard to find ON PURPOSE. However, a small group of us wandering around trying to find the same place made for an opportunity to make friends and share the experience. I don't want to spoil all the surprises of the show, but just trust me this is a serious hidden gem (pun intended) and is good for all ages 21+. It's a great time! 10/10 will go back! read more

Last night my wife Jen & I joined some friends and headed out to the Drunk Shakespeare Comedy Show in Phoenix Az. When you enter you are given a Shot right off the bat to get the evening going Then into the Library where the show will be, the Ambiance set up was nice and just the right size to not be over crowded and yet being able to get the audience involved, we had a great time and the cast was great and the show kept going laugh after laugh. We had dinner earlier so for us it was just some pop-corn for Jen ( our DD ) and beers for the rest of us. It was about 10-15min into the show and a couple got up and walked out I'm assuming they were offended by some of the content of the show, so just be aware this is NOT a G or PG show but if you love some funny and raunchy Comedy this is the place, We had a great time and some good out loud laughs the entire show. Was hoping this would have been more like what was described on the website. One drunk person and the other 4 trying to keep them on track doing Shakespeare. It was more of an improvisation situation for the actors and drinking by the audience was greatly encouraged, (I can't fault them for that though as it's a cocktail bar). Unfortunately for my husband and myself, we did not find it funny at all. The humor was more sophomoric and crass but I suppose if I was drunk like half of the audience, I may have found it somewhat funny. I applaud Drunk Shakespeare. I was in Phoenix for work. I took a look at what was happening at night. This was listed. I was intrigued. Than I noticed the venue was directly across the street from my hotel. That could not be more convenient. I recommend it. You do not need to have any great knowledge of the Bard. You probably need more interest in the first word of the title, not the second word. Five 20 somethings put on an abbreviated version of Macbeth. The gimmick is at the beginning they bring out a tray of five shots of hard liquor. They select an audience member -- they interact extensively with the crowd, not just the front row which is so close they could touch -- to down one of those to verify it is what it purports to be. Then one of them finishes off the four in short order. That renders the person inebriated. (There are additional opportunities for a designated king and queen, who win the auction bidding, to require that same performer take two further shots, and six ounces of tequila would put most people under the table.) The ninety minute show is a comic meta rendition of the Scottish tragedy. They break the fourth wall regularly. Some appears improvised (well). They draft volunteers, e.g., to be the two murderers. If everyone were sober, this would be mildly amusing. Since all of the persons in the space, which is tiny (the stage is the size of a New York City apartment kitchen), are encouraged to enjoy the Elizabethan themed libations, I am confident the entertainment value is enhanced considerably. If you have seen MacHomer, the one man mash up of this script with the Simpsons animated TV show, this program is in the same spirit. The people next to me were a young couple, probably a demographic similar to the actors. They had been before. They brought another couple. They actually paid for their friends to be the king and the queen. That couple then was able to sit in the dual throne chairs. In addition to a bottle of champagne, the package included slightly more participation in the festivities. It is bawdy but not explicit. You could bring coworkers (there is an age requirement, 21 and up). One sequence involves a little radio controlled truck. Audience members receive colored ping pong balls. A cast member drives the truck around. You try to throw balls into the truck bed. For every ball that lands, the drunk cast member removes an article of clothing. The maximum number of balls you could get in there is seven. So the drunk cast member strips down to underwear. That guy was much more buff than I would have guessed. But he had on his Sponge Bob Square Pants boxers. I am a Shakespeare completist (that includes Timon, Pericles, Two Noble Kinsman, even Edward III; not counting Double Falsehood as even disputed). That only makes me an enthusiast, not an expert, I hasten to add for the benefit of those such as a colleague who scoffs at any statement I might make about theatre. This experience cannot be ranked against others. It is unique. Addendum. The Rose Theatre is not the easiest to find based on a navigation app, because it is part of a complex.
