I went to the Drunken Donkey today for lunch. I had crab balls for a starter, chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes for an entree, and cheesecake for dessert. They were all superb and better than most restaurants serve. The kitchen and menu are amazing. A+ NOW.... No matter how good your food is if I have to finish my meal by wiping my butt with my own damn sock because you can't be bothered to maintain your restrooms we have a problem. The place was empty. I was the only one there. No one was doing anything other than playing with their smartphones and still there wasn't any toilet paper!? WTF guys. I know doing a cursory sweep and wipe of the counter was done because it was clean but where do you guys go? Some VIP staff only room? There weren't even any cardboard rolls where the paper would have been. Is that because you are maximizing profits or because the last sorry soul tore the cardboard into strips and dipped it into his own sorry bung in the hopes of scraping himself clean? Had I not been a Soldier and used to sacrificing bits of clothing in the field or at war I may have been at a loss, but don't rely on every customer to disrobe or donate bits of clothing to preserve basic sanitation because you can't be bothered to stock a restroom properly. Hell, trade in one of your 110+ bigscreen telies if you have to but put some sodding paper in the loo! Shameful. Enough of that. You owe me a sock. Next time I am around, and unbelievably enough I will be around because the food is that good, you can provide me with a new pair and an apology. If anyone cares to know about the beer, they've got tons, and all fancy microbrews. If you have a mate who made a batch of bitter in the basement of your dormitory in Newfoundland, it's likely they carry it. Look for the Newfoundland mates dirty sock dorm brew. This place is a wannabe sports bar. We went to watch a Cowboy game and were excited to get a conversation pit upstairs. We ordered one round of drinks and appetizers to get going only to have to tab out because the waitress was handing us off at 2:00 pm!! The second waitress took one order and never came back to our table. After waiting for 30 minutes for service we complained and they gave us a 3rd waitress that was great for about an hour then she tabbed us out since she was tired. Waitress #4 in 2 hours then took over only to cut us off after my daughter tripped over my cowboy boot!! We are not the type of people that get cut off and were extremely insulted after such pitiful service. We really like a number of things at this place. First the food has always been solid. The craft beer is always on rotation and they probably have one of the best selections in the area. Also, the name change from the Drunkey Donkey to the new name was a smart move since we do go with our kiddos sometimes and there is no longer any explaining to do. We also like going here because they welcome dogs in the outside patio area. Cool set up outside with fans and TVs, however they allow smoking out there. That is probably our least favorite thing. I hate folks smoking around me while I am eating. And even if they are not smoking at the tables the sidewalk hallway is lined with benches where people sit and smoke. If it was me I would connect the patio to the building, make a new sidewalk around the outside of the patio, and make it non smoking. To get the best of both worlds I would then put the benches on the other side of the building where folks can smoke away from the food, but what do I know. I will say that we would go a lot more if it wasn't for the smoking and anyone we tell about the place it's the first thing that we bring up. read more

We just finished up some apps and a bucket of beer here. I have to say, we eat wings all over the DFW and these wee among the best I've had! I got hot and they were big, meaty, cooked perfectly and had heat plus flavor! Our server, Allison, was totally sweet, attentive and funny. The GM, Gary, stopped by and chatted for a while. We found out we have mutual friends and he bought us a shot. Loved the food, the service, the atmosphere and the people. We are definitely coming back many times!! read more

I was so excited when we moved to The Colony that there was a bar near us less than a mile away. I was less excited when I actually went here. Crappy service, crappy atmosphere, over priced for what it is, crappy food, beer was warm (gross!) . Very cool spot to have some food, drinks, and watch a game. Beer selection is awesome and the prices are about average. Tried the nachos and it was amazing. Watch out because it's a lot to eat. The television viewing was spot on. You can see the televisions clearly from any spot there. Also, a side note the waitresses are beautiful. That's for the guys that might be interested in that. Yesterday on 5/31/16 I had come to the Drunken Donkey and had amazing service and I even left a nice tip for my server Jennifer however tonight this is not the case. So tonight I sat at the bar to watch the hockey game and ordered a Dogfish Head dark beer which was great. However after my first beer I was not asked for a refill or even addressed as I sat at the bar while both gentlemen on each side of me were. Allie the bartender was nice overall however her overall service made sure I would not order another beer if I came again and she was my server and or bartender. Two stars is only for the many TV's and the couple of nice waitresses. Don't sit at the bar. All but one bartender is SO RUDE, and I don't think the one nice one I've met is even there anymore. I really, really, really want to like this place since it's the only place remotely close to my home that has such a great selection of beers. The food is just okay, but I can work with that as it is a bar after all. I just can't work with the consistently rude service I receive from the bartenders. Our first time to the colony. We checked in at top golf and needed to kill the 3 hours til our turn. we were starving so we walked across the street to the Drunken Donkey. We immediately sat at a table. Our server was pretty quick to set us up with menus and take our drink orders. She was very friendly. But that's pretty much the last we saw her. She came back about 30-45 minutes later to take away our drink menus. She said she would be right back. She came back about 15-20 minutes later to take our food menus and gave them to the table behind us. When the table behind us got their food and we still hadn't gotten a chance to order food or additional beverages we just asked for our check. Maybe ours was just bad luck but it was very irritating. So we wasted all that time there and still left starving! read more

Terrible service from "Jennifer" the up and coming new manager. She served drinks to half our group while distracted by her "friends" at the table next to ours. She then refused to serve one person in our group because she assumed that person was over-served without having ever even spoken to this person. After calling the manager over and cancelling our order we then had to wait fifteen (15) minutes for her to come close enough to the table to even request the check be brought out. You've lost our business permanently after being loyal donkey clientele. Your choice in future leadership leaves something to be desired from a customer standpoint when clearly inebriated customers are being served at the bar only feet away from our quiet and seated group. While waiting for new tires from Discount Tires we went over to Dallas Draft, (formerly Drunken Donkey Craft). We started with the pork Thingies, jalapeños wrapped with bacon - delicious. Then I had the duck with orange sauce. I'm a fan of duck and this is definitely in the top 3 duck meals I've had. My wife had the truffle hamburger. I tasted it and it was awesome. The place flip flops on policy to fit the needs on a daily basis. Apparently you can drive a car or truck there and drink till you need to be carried out. Ride a bike, they shut you down after 1 beer. Not MC riding either. Few friends on motorcycles. Take your business elsewhere if you ride a bike. Or just look different than a hipster read more

This place exceeded my expectations. The food is stellar... I had the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato tater tots (the chicken was tender and the sweet potato tots were perfectly crispy). My boyfriend had the shrimp tacos and loved them! He also tried one of the beers from the many they have to offer. He LOVED IT! The service.... I cannot stress enough how much the manager cares about the perception of his restaurant. The donkey is one of my favorite places to bring people who visit from out of town. This is not your run-of-the-mill bar food! Everything they serve is good. Burgers are phenomenal, Buffalo fries are genius, and a beer menu for everyone. I've been going here regularly since last summer and I never get tired of it. Even if the food was only decent, the friendliness of the staff more than makes up for it. And they have a pit porch. It just keeps getting better. read more

Maybe it was on off night but for me they are really 2.5 star kind of place. The Good: They have outdoor seating and plenty of TV's inside. They have tons of beer on tap. A beer heaven. My bad: The service is slow. We had a waitress but all drinks, appetizers and food we order was brought out by different people. Seems efficient but that system has no one taking responsibly for service. We order drinks as soon as we sat down. 20 minutes later she came to take our food order. We did not have our drinks yet so we waited for our drinks to order anything. Getting additional drinks was even slower. Like a few other reviews we were overcharge $14. I believe what happen is that one of the many people that serviced our table ask if we needed anything. We told them that we was missing 2 drinks so she must have went to the bar and did not see them so she rang them up again. Everyone food was good except for the donkey balls. They were horribly dry not worth eating dry. Would I go back? If I am in the area but I would probably sit at the bar so I can get a drink and I will double check my bill before I leave. read more

They have so many beers on tap, which is awesome if the waitress can bring you the one you actually ordered, and if it comes cold. Sadly, ordering my beer by number AND name hasn't helped those things the last 2 times I've been here. Seriously, warm beer. This is a cool place! Plenty of great craft beer and the food is original, creative, and delicious. It's a bit loud I here (to be fair, it's hockey playoffs and Cinco de Mayo) . Our server was knowledgeable about the whole menu and enthusiastic about the food. She recommended the "jalapeño thingies" and said they were her fave app. She was right, they were great. Lots of excellent craft beer options! Food is very good and the menu items are interesting. The whiskey cake is better than what you can get at the actual Whisky Cake! It is a 2 story "bar" and can be chaotic as it is usually packed. But thats a good thing. Waitresses are friendly and attentive. The interior looks like it was designed by the Riddler, which is cool. I wish the dog area did'nt allow smoking. All of the televisions everywhere playing sports is the only thing that makes this place generic. read more

I was blown away by the quality of the staff. I ate at the bar and both bartenders introduced themselves and made me feel welcome. I was in a bit of a hurry and asked about the speed of the kitchen and the bartender said they were quick and the food was fresh. (a short brunette) My two friends ordered and told her I was on their tab as well, I go to order and she walks away to talk to the guy at the end of the bar, who I also happened to know. My friend told her I was ready to order, she rolls her eyes and makes my crown and coke then proceeds to slam it down in front of us, roll her eyes again and walks away. Really? The food here brought it up from one star to two stars. If I could give 4 stars for food and -10 for service I would. Bacon thingies are delicious, sandwiches/burgers are good, and their beer selection is top notch! Now to the bad-service. I usually don't call out waitresses, but Hannah (with glasses) was the worst waitress I've had in my entire life. Not only did she forget about us multiple times, but her and multiple waitress and I believe the manager were ripping shots! Not at the bar in secrecy, but the table right next to us! She called customers and other waitresses "bitches" and told us if she forgets something it's because she's a bad waitress! Atleast she admitted it to us. I'll be back just for the food which is probably keeping this place open, but the multiple times I've come here the service has been below below below standard.
