I had not been to 54th St. in so many years. In that time, it changed names and changed back again. We stopped for an early weeknight dinner, and we're seated immediately by the friendliest hostess. I started with sangria during happy hour, and it was so refreshing in this Texas heat. We shared the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, they were huge and absolutely delicious. Our serpent did an excellent job pacing the meal and making sure we had finished our appetizer before bringing our salads, and then timing our entrées perfectly. It's those little details that make a dining experience stand out. In the past, I've always ordered the protein bowls or sandwiches, but this time we were both craving steak. I ordered the filet mignon cooked, medium with a baked potato and grilled asparagus. I honestly wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful and well prepared everything was. Overall, we had a great meal with no weight, attentive service, and delicious food. It's a reminder of why this place has been around for so long and I definitely won't forget about it next time I'm deciding where to eat. read more

My wife and I came by and had lunch which we thought was very good. Everything tasted great and was cooked to perfection! Our server was fantastic, she was attentive, quick and gave us suggestions. We absolutely love it when the staff gives recommendations at ANY restaurant! I think they should all be taught to ask the patrons if they would like any suggestions, with indecisive people like my wife it really helps! Our server recommended joining their app club thing so we also got a free app outta that! The restaurant is huge too, it has plenty of seating which we walked right in and were seated right away. Noise level is very low too, I liked that very much. I'm very surprised reading and seeing the photos of the folks that are giving this place bad reviews. It seems to be every one has one thing in common, from what I'm picking up. They are all using take out service. I just don't think you can judge any place for food if you aren't eating it there. It's like ordering McDonalds and taking it home 15 minutes away and then blaming them for the food to be cold. Food changes after it's prepared. I'm not saying they aren't pointing out the obvious cooking flaws but geez... Highly recommend the chicken fried steak and their coleslaw is so delicious.also got the salted caramel brownie with vanilla ice cream. Probably one of the best brownies I've ever had. So delicious! The atmosphere is comfortable and private and there are a ton of TVs. Beers come out quick and the waiters/bartenders are friendly and attentive. My husband and I usually order a couple appetizers to split, but this time we each ordered a burger. He got the avocado burger and was very happy with the smashed avocado and it not being in slices that easily fall off the burger. He asked for pink and it was perfect. I ordered the smash burger with brussel sprouts. Extremely surprised the dressed Brussels are not a premium charge since they come with balsamic vinegar, cranberries, goat cheese, and perfectly charred. I LOVED the Brussel sprouts. Wow -- where do I even start? Jason was fantastic! I usually go with a 20% tip, but he was just too good -- I had to bump it up to 30%! First thing I always check in a restaurant is the restrooms, and they were spotless -- huge plus! The dining area was just as clean and welcoming. I even had a great little chat with the manager to let him know how much I was enjoying Jason's impeccable service. I couldn't believe it when he said he just started! You'd never guess -- he handled everything like a seasoned pro. The food? Also wonderful. I had filet mignon, a side house salad, some added bread and butter, a glass of champagne... it was the perfect setup for a relaxing day here at 54th Street in The Colony. I went here with a bunch of coworkers and we had a good time. The restaurant is spacious with two bars, lots of tables, and outdoor seating. Surprisingly, it wasn't that noisy so we were able to hear one another. They don't take reservations, but we easily found tables during Happy Hour on a Friday. I had the Thai Noodle Salad but my salad was missing the noodles whereas my colleague's salad turned out fine. Nonetheless, it was tasty and plenty. Also ordered water and never got water, he passed by 3x times without offering to fill the soda and my cup was empty. Also once the food was delivered I had to go Chase down someone to give us utensils as they were not provided. I provided a generous 15% tip hoping he was overwhelmed. This place is freaking amazing. The food to die for. We had the Chicken Bucatini Pasta, The Spicy fried chicken and coleslaw (was amazing and had apples in it), and last we had the Gringo dip+chips. First off Our server was awesome, Josh was his name! I had this & that, and my lady had a cup of potato soup. Mine was a half of a prime rib sandwich with a bowl of potato soup. The sandwich prime rib was roast beef and so salty and well done! Prime Rib is to be seasoned, not salted as if it were salt pork! But when a prime rib is cooked well done, it becomes roast beef! Not good! The soup at this location needs a lot of help as well. Soooo, why is this 54th street now five four? Is it to fool people that are not aware that they haven't entered a new restaurant? Have seen a few of these restaurants and finally got the opportunity to stop in. The interior is cool with race cars hanging on the ceiling as well as various other decorations throughout. It's a large restaurant with a good size bar area and plenty of TVs. They offer a full bar and good assortment of drinks and ones they put their spin on strawberry Long Island for instance. The fried picked were some of the best I've ever had. They had a cheese dust on the outside and some type of spice that gave it a nice light kick. They were cooked perfectly and had a great crunch. The chicken steak sandwich was good. Definitely use a fork and knife but worth that effort. The cheesecake was gigantic and immediately you think "i won't finish this" that's until you taste it. Where do I even begin!? My friend and I were looking for some late-night eats and came across this place, and I'm soooo glad we did! First off, the staff is A1; everyone was friendly, and our server Zoey was fantastic! We had no idea they had happy hour apps from 9 pm to close, so of course, we had to order any and everything! lol We tried the calamari, crab cakes, mushroom caps, Gringo Dip & Chips, Tequila Wrappers, and chicken fingers. We intended on ordering entrees too, but there was so much food we had no space. So note to self, they have large portions, no complaints here. I'll be back to try the entrees. My personal favorites were the gringo dip, tequila wrappers, and crab cakes. Also, they had $5 Sangrias; it was unheard of! I didn't try it, but my friend said it was excellent! Lastly, we ended with the salted caramel chocolate brownie, and omg, y'all, that thing is AMAZING! The food tends to be a bit all over the map in terms of quality. Sometimes it seems to be good and others just not so great. Never consistent and some servers are better than others. It's just not dependable currently. read more

I have to praise the manager and waitress - they took excellent care of us, making sure we were served quickly. The food was amazing, and we all ordered from the lunch menu. We had 15 people, waited 50 minutes for a table when there were only 6 tables in the entire establishment. We waited another hour for our food which was mostly cold and they completely forgot an individual order. We waited another 30 minutes for our tickets. When we voiced our concerns, the "manager" said oh sorry and offered gift cards to people who live out of state. After another 15 minutes they decided to bring our checks with only one comped meal with an oopsie apology. I'm in shock honestly. Also to note most people never got a refill or a drink at all. I had a chance to visit again and got the ribs and chicken strip dinner with a baked potato and salad. What a difference! The chicken was hot and seasoned well. The baked potato was perfect and the salad was fresh and a meal by itself. I ate the ribs the next day and was pleasantly surprised how good they were. The environment in here is so chill! The server was very knowledgeable of the menu and friendly. I got the blackened snapper power bowl. It was flavorful but the fish was a bit dry.
