Always love this place. Working so the street enables us to go often. Friday's are the best because it's $3 Fireball shots. Food takes a bit to get but it's all scratch made. The only thing I haven't liked here is the grilled cheese. Way way too much bread. They used to have Fireball BBQ wings and they were to die for but they don't make them anymore; I'm very saddened. The lunch portions are good and $7 so you can't beat that. Gravy for the mashed potatoes is kind of salty. Other than those kinks it's awesome! read more

I am disappointed that I will not be going back to this bar. I arrive late afternoon yesterday with my dog to enjoy a beer, some good food and watch some football. I waited at least 10 mins, which is not uncommon if you sit outside, only when I flagged down a waitress who proceed to tell me that the manager told her that dogs where no longer allowed. I understand if you don't want to allow dogs, at least put up a sign as a courtesy. The entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun) so I am choosing not to go back. In the grand scheme it is no big deal to them, I wanted to pass along the new no dog policy to others yelpers. read more

Wow. Walked in to meet up with an old friend and was immediately greeted by a paper flyer notifying customers that this establishment failed their most recent health inspection. Great start... Upon ordering waters we were told they were out of ice. Then we were brought ice water because they realized there was still some behind the bar. One of our drinks couldn't be made because they were missing ingredients, then our server brought it out to us and said turns out they did have all the ingredients after all. Another drink didn't arrive until after the food because the margarita machine wasn't working. Then we didn't have any silverware. All in all, it was one disaster after another. read more

I actually ended up laughing at how horrible it was. The entire experience was just horrible, from the bar fight that happened to the shitty appetizer that was delivered after the main course. The only saving grace were the fries because the burger only tasted like mustard as the grease from the meat destroyed the bun. The wait staff tried to slow the sinking of the ship by doing all they could by asking how it was, but I didn't have the heart to say it was all shit. Decided to go back and try it back out. Once again no where to sit and the servers push you around so you can get out of the way. We requested a table be cleaned so we can sit and watch the game. The server said to us that the manager is no good and he is stressing out all the waitstaff as we were waiting. Right as we were about to leave we got a table. Went here for the Mavs game, the manager decided he was going to change ALL of the tvs to the SAME channel (not the Mavs game). When we asked him to change it back, he made a big deal saying that 80% of the people at the bar weren't watching that game. He then changed only ONE of the tvs back to the game. Sweet! Found a bar & grill in The Colony where I can catch the game, eat a tasty meal and hang with friends in a smoke free environment! The food is yummy and the menu goes beyond that of simple bar food. They have 126 beers on tap and over 200 craft beers! The indoor area is two levels and has 50 HD TV's and video games. There's a gated outdoor smoking area where you can take your beverage. Service was awesome, parking was easy and it was an overall great experience. I like the atmosphere. Cool place with a younger crowd. That's about it. My wife and I have been several times. On several occasions we have gotten screwed on our tab. One time I gave $80 for a $55 tab and kept asking for change and the waitress never came back. Another time my wife ordered one Mamosa and was charged for a bottomless Mamosa for 13 dollars. Common sense says if you're not ordering more than one you're not getting the bottomless. We have approached the management on different occasions and they have gotten it corrected. But I don't want to go to a restaurant where I have to ask for the manager every time. The staff needs better training. read more

This place was amazing. My husband and I went there on a whim and ended up staying a couple hours. We sat upstairs on comfy couches and ate the most amazing wings and buffalo fries. My husband loved the beer variety. I think there was around 120. It was during the week of Christmas and they had several Christmas special beers as well. Final thought: Amazing food-drinks-service. Came here for a night of fun with a book club. The waitress and owners were attentive. The tvs could be a bit overwhelming for some people. The drink selection was fantastic and the food menu was amazing! We ordered the pretzels and they were amazing!! We ended up coming back after a few hours of top golf and it was busier than before! Loved this atmosphere! Went on a Sunday for the cowboys game and they have so many tvs throughout the restaurant. I got the hero burger and it was amazing. I have been going here regularly since they opened in Nov. '14. The staff is always friendly and attentive. It's a great place for one who appreciates craft beer. As far as food I have had most everything on the menu and It has all been good. You can get anything from wings, burgers and tacos to steak or quail or roast duck. I will say if you get something you don't like you should tell the wait staff or the manager instead of getting on here and giving a bad review. I personally have seen them make it right. Some of the higher alcohol beers are only served in 9oz pours. For the others you can pick whether you want 9oz or 16oz. For those BMC drinkers you can get your favorite Bud, Miller, Coors in the bottle. There is also a good selection of craft bottle beers in addition to the 126 beers on tap. Donkey Rox! read more

Very interesting place - a solid 3.5 stars! Massive number of craft beers on tap - I think it was 125+! If you're wanting the ultimate in choice of local craft crafts to choose from, this is the place for you. Beers we had were priced a little high especially considering the higher ABV beers were easily the smallest pours of any local spot we've been. Bartenders we had were all pleasant and friendly. Not the same level of beer knowledge of several of the other better craft beer spots in town - but they tried to be helpful. Managers on-hand were more knowledgeable and checked in regularly on us. There was a female manager who we had a blast talking with about her tattoos - didn't get her name so we could ask for her next time! Overall our food was disappointing. Chips and guac were very good, the Donkey Balls dry and bland, Bacon thingies were okay - they could have been very good except the amount of tobasco overwhelmed all other tastes. My burger was especially weak - it says premium fresh beef but the meat looked and tasted like a Sam's patty. :( It's saying something when I don't finish a burger and I just couldn't get it down. Hoping to have better luck next time. Atmosphere is interesting. A bit sterile looking inside, nice size bar, lots of TVs. Crowd has been fun and friendly both times we were there. There are still some kinks to be worked out - but all-in-all, Drunken Donkey is a nice addition to The Colony and the DFW craft beer options. We'll be back! read more

This place is just ok. The waitresses are friendly and the bar is clean. The drinks are solid. They have a ton of different beers on tap, which is great. Food really knocks their score down though. Nachos were basically a salad (ten lbs of lettuce, tons of onion, a sprinkle of jalapeños) and some cold canned cheese on top of chips. I paid $2 for extra for beef but all that got me was a literally a tablespoon of unseasoned ground beef tossed onto the center of the plate like a weak afterthought. Salsa had no flavor, and the guacamole had enough onions to choke a donkey. If I was rating this place as a bar I'd give em 3 or 4 stars. As a restaurant, 2 stars. Was going to be 3 stars but when I got the check we noticed the cost of the beef was $2 and we were also charged extra for salsa (doesn't come with nachos) without being told. I visited this location shortly after it opened during a Cowboys game. The place was packed but the waitress was kind enough to keep an eye open for an empty table and serve me a few beers while I waited. I ended up having the Reuben and it was very good. Food is not an afterthought at this pub. Taste, portion size, and quality were all great. The beer selection is great too. I like a lot of the local/regional/state craft beers and they were well represented. I'll certainly drop in when I'm in the area. I will also say while it is a sports bar it is a smoke free environment and I did see families with kids there. read more

The Drunken Donkey was going through its soft opening and was invited to drop by. There's 2 things that you'll notice when you walk in. First, there are wall to wall TVs, but the most impressive but is the wall to wall taps. Mostly beers but there's also cider, brandywine and even root beer. There's a good selection of styles and ABV%. While most are domestic (in the true sense), there's a selection European beers on top too. The beer menu is written in really small print (if you have bad eyesight or drank one too many 10%ers then you're kinda screwed) but the helpful and friendly bar staff will help get you the right beer. I've not looked to see if they have an app, like World of Beer, but I'm doubting it. Although things were busy and sometimes broken (credit card terminals went down earlier in the day), everyone was friendly and took time to chat for a while. While I didn't eat the food, I did see plenty being brought out and it looked really good. I'm looking forward to going back to give it a try and consume more beers. At the time of writing, there's no sort of reward program ala Flying Saucer or Word of Beer, so you'll have to steal a menu, keep track, and treat yourself to a t-shirt once you've completed the beer list. Overall, Samantha, Brooke, and Stephanie did a great job serving up the beer and keeping me entertained, excellent selection of beer, good looking food, downer that there's no reward for drinking the menu, except a handover maybe, and the tiny writing - might pay to use both sides of the sheet. I'm definitely going back. Please keep in mind this is a new location and there's obviously going to be teething problems, so be patient and give your server the benefit of the doubt. read more

The service is absolutely terrible! It's super close to my house... I even hosted my birthday there and we would have to order our drinks 2-3 at a time just to ensure that we wouldn't have to wait 30 min in between each drink order. The bartenders unfortunately don't acknowledge you whatsoever unless you are a male... I stood there last night for a good 15-20 minutes at the bar late night with three other friends and not once was I asked how I was doing... No "we'll be with you shortly"... Anything. One of the managers came up to the bar staff and asked if everyone was good and they replied, yes. At that point, I had to intervene and tell across the bar, excuse me sir, we actually have been standing here for 15 minutes and have not been helped. At that point the bar staff (2 blondes) came up and acted friendly and even after that, all that was ordered was 4 shots and she messed up our order. Gave us one of the shots and we waited an additional ten minutes for the other three. Needless to say we cashed out after that and left. This will be my last time going there. The place has a heated outside patio which is dog friendly. They even bought my dog a few bacon strips and water. The waitress Jennifer, was great tonight. I got what I ordered without any issues. The manager JJ came over to say hi and to see if there was a problem and to see if everything was to my satisfaction. The food was good at a reasonable price. I was refereed by a friend. He told me their wings were on par with Pluckers and better than Wingstop. It was hard to believe but he was right and the great part is they are not over priced. A bit of a dirty bar, offering an upscale menu of dishes costing way too much and taking way too long to serve. Claims to have 100+ beers on tap, however 3 of the 6 beers served on our flight were water or watered down beer of sorts. They had a new computer system that the staff was not familiar with and were not able to find several of the beers, making us pick again.
