Zero out of ten. Genuinely the worst Pad Thai I've ever had. When ordering, I was given three spice options: no spice, medium, or very spicy. I asked if they could do something mild, but was told they don't offer that. I'm Indian and normally handle spice very well, so I was worried that "no spice" would be completely bland. I went with their lowest actual spice option: medium. Huge mistake. The first bite genuinely scared me. It tasted like someone had dumped an entire packet of chili directly into my mouth. My eyes immediately started watering, my mouth was on fire, and eating it was extremely uncomfortable. This wasn't a matter of me being sensitive to spice, the "medium" was insanely spicy. My friend, who is also South Asian and accustomed to spicy food, couldn't finish hers either. I politely told our waitress that the medium Pad Thai was far too spicy for me to eat. Her solution was to offer me sugar to pour over it. That sounded awful, so I declined. At that point I literally went on ChatGPT to figure out how I could salvage my meal. It suggested peanut sauce as one option to help tone down the heat, which sounded much more reasonable. I asked the waitress for some peanut sauce and was told I could have it for an additional charge. Considering I was only asking for it because their "medium" Pad Thai was practically inedible, I found that pretty disappointing. But I wanted to actually eat the food I had paid for, so I agreed. The peanut sauce helped slightly, but I basically had to eat a spoonful of peanut sauce with every single bite just to tolerate the Pad Thai. At that point, I wasn't enjoying dinner. The restaurant itself also felt very dirty. The floors looked like they desperately needed to be mopped, which made the overall experience even less appealing. Between the inedible food, the lack of any meaningful attempt to fix the problem, being charged extra for something I needed just to make the meal tolerable, and the cleanliness of the restaurant, I seriously considered leaving no tip. Came here with friends after snowboarding at Boreal Mountain Resort and it was exactly what we needed. The portions were generous and everything tasted delicious. I ordered the Vegan Pad Thai and it was especially good. One unique item here is the Crispy Pad Thai, which I had never heard of or tried before. Excellent ambience and service right up front. Be aware that there will probably be a wait during rush times but well worth the wait. Perfect little menu with a mix of noodles and dumplings. We decided to order family style and got 3 entrees-Drunken Noodle with Chicken-Thai Fried Rice with Chicken and Se Ew with Beef. 8/3/25 While in Sac for convention party of 10 we came to Drunken Noodle after some yelp research woohoo. They were very accommodating for a large party. Not a very big restaurant. We were able to call ahead and let them know a large party was coming . They were ready for us . Service was exellent . Food was great. We ordered a little bit of everything as seen in pics. The Pad Thai here is a 10/10 seriously one of the best I've had in a while! Perfect flavor, great texture, and generous portions. My husband got the papaya salad, which leaned a bit sweet. We ordered it mild, but I think it could've used more spice. Luckily, they have chili sauce on the side so you can adjust it to your liking. Overall, still tasty. I'd give it a 7/10. This was good Thai food! I asked for my tofu to be cooked crispy and they did a good job, and there was an abundance of cashews in my order so I loved that. Our server didn't ask what level of spice we wanted, and I forgot to specify so there was NO spice, and that was disappointing. Also, none of the tables had any condiments and we had to flag the server down to request it. There was nothing special about the interior of the restaurant, but they did have some artwork on the wall that appeared to be for sale...love it when restaurants support local (I assume) artists! I've been to this place many times in the past, and it was always good, but my most recent visit was really disappointing. We ordered chicken drunken noodles for takeout, and when we opened the box, it looked sad, it had no color, no wok char, and it didn't seem like it had been properly stir-fried. The flavor was bland, the chicken tasted plain, and there was barely any spice. It didn't resemble drunken noodles at all. I ended up just eating the noodles and throwing the rest away. My husband and I have patronized Drunken Noodle twice in the past two months; once for a sit down lunch, the other for takeout dinner. We were pleased both times. The portions are large, and quality of the food is outstanding. For lunch, I had the Silver Noodle Salad. It was filled with shrimp and chicken, along with lots of fresh greens and vegetables. The lime dressing was great. For takeout, I ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken. Once again, the dish was packed with chicken and fresh vegetables, and the flat rice noodles were cooked perfectly (nothing worse than soggy, over cooked noodles!). Came here on a Thursday around 7, the restaurant was practically full, I was seated at the last open table. I got the fresh rolls and chicken kao soi.
