I was in the area and saw this place was recommended and nearby. I ordered pickup through Doordash. The pickup process was a bit unorthodox but simple to follow. You can either text a number that you've arrived or ring the doorbell on the poster for your ordering location. Im guessing the building is a kitchen that houses many restaurants, hence the various doorbells and posters. To the food. I've never had Hainanese chicken rice and was due to try it. I got the Sampler Plate. The chicken was flavorful, crispy (fried) and delicious. I loved the consommé and the rice!!!! I wasn't a fan of the other sauces given with the dish and just preferred the consommé and food as it was. It was a portion large enough for me and my boyfriend to share and both be satisfied. It's interesting picking up food from an alley. Ive never ordered from a ghost kitchen before and found it an experience. I ordered the sampler platter that was well packaged and traveled very well. I was worried that the crispy chicken would be soggy by the time I got to it, but it was still very crispy, the poached chicken was also very good. The front of this building is Coffee and Tacos so we couldn't find Clucking Good, went around back and saw several different restaurant posters with QR codes, seen Clucking Good poster scanned it and their menu came right up decided to try this place because fellow yelper Liberty G gave them a great review and she is honest with her opinion she recommended delicious dishes !!! We ordered the crispy chicken comes with garlic rice and consomme and the hainan chicken it also came with garlic rice and consomme, the hainan chicken was delicious the rice fragrant and so tasty the crispy chicken was so crunchy but could have used a little salt but it came sweet chili sauce for dipping and was perfect together we ordered extra cucumbers worth the 2 extra dollars we were so happy with our meals. The service was fast the prices were reasonable unfortunately there is no where to sit because it is in a ghost kitchen. We ended up sitting on some benches on the side of coffee and tacos it was nice and shady. If you're picking up, I'd recommend coming during the day time because turning into the area can be scary at night! We tried: - Samplers Plate/Half & Half ($16) - Crying Tiger ($22) - Thai Tea ($4) Their consommé might be my favorite Hainan chicken side soup ever!! It was sooo deeply flavored and felt like such a warm hug. The chicken for the poached Hainan chicken was a bit drier than expected, but I dunked each piece in the consommé before eating and that made it better! I know that Hainan chicken/khao mun gai should be super soft and juicy, so I'm just chalking it up to having an off serving. The fried chicken of the sampler was great and went perfectly with the sweet chili sauce. Their Crying Tiger is to die for!! The fat on the steak is perfectly rendered so each bite is wonderfully rich. The sauce that goes with it is tart so it completely balances the meal. However, the Crying Tiger does NOT come with rice, so make sure you order some on the side! read more

Cluckin Good is sooo CLUCKIN GOOD! Seriously. I love Hainan chicken and had been wanting to try this spot out for a while now. Since they're a ghost kitchen, we ordered the regular Hainan chicken plate and got it delivered for lunch. For about $15, you get a large plate of poached chicken thighs, garlic rice, consommé, and a tangy spicy sauce. Each component of this meal is super flavorful and just so comforting. The sauce was actually different than what I expected (ginger, garlic, green onions, and oil) but I LOVE it! The tanginess helps balance out the richness, and you get a nice kick from the chilis! I've had this twice in the past week and don't see myself stopping any time soon. read more

This is one of my new favorite place to get poached chicken which is so tender and juicy. I love the ginger sauce that comes with it and you can drench that over the chicken or the rice. They also have some flavor rice that cooks with ginger and garlic and the poached chicken juice and it is so flavorful and savory. I also tried their crying tiger which is their Grill stick and it comes with some Spicy Thai lime juice which is so addicting after you dip it once. The steak has perfect Grill marks but the steak was a little bit overcooked so next time I order it I will request medium rare to have a little bit of pink. I love how the crying tiger comes with some fresh cucumber so when it gets a little spicy it cools down the taste bud. I also try to grill pork which was grilled to perfection but it was a little bit on the dry side as well a little bit too overcooked. I also love how I got the crispy fried chicken which was perfect and tender and it comes with some Thai chili sauce which you can dip it in and it is very sweet and savory and crunchy all in one bite. Also don't forget to try there Thai tea which is really refreshing and milky. The setup of a ghost kitchen is you order online and you go there and pick up your order after you ring the doorbell and the sweet Mama comes and bring out your food to you and then you go on your way. I'm a big fan of Hainanese chicken rice and was totally excited when I saw the business' pictures but was very disappointed with i picked up my order. When I opened the bag there was a very nice handwritten message of the plate cover but when I opened it, there was no skin on the chicken. This is a crucial part of Hainanese chicken. The soup was kind of sweet; i was expecting a more bland and very chicken-brothy broth if that makes sense lol! Overall it looked unappealing, and tasted very bland to me. Homecooked Hainan (Southern Chinese) food like your grandma made! I've never had such a nostalgic reaction to Chinese food. We get both the steamed and fried chicken. It's amazing. The garlic and ginger rice is so aromatic and delicious as well! The only place my boyfriend, mom, and me can all agree on! I feel like the people who complained don't appreciate or have the palate for this kind of authentic Chinese food. It's rare and it's the only place left ai can still go to that hasn't shuttered recently. Stumbled upon this cruising yelp to try something different. This place did not disappoint! Was driving back from an offsite job..jumped on Yelp to see what's good on my way home. This place was further out than home but I gave it a go! Ordered my food(I was late as I was coming back from the Central Valley) and picked it up before going home. That tells you the food sat there for about 20 minutes before I picked it up. Got it back home..no reheat and the crying tiger was superb in flavor and tenderness. When rice is perfectly cooked like it was here, it's the baseline for a fantastic experience. Chicken was everything I hoped it would be. The broth was everything I hoped it would be. I will say everything was basic but I like that. Especially when basic is very well executed. THE only thing I wished they had was ginger scallion sauce. But that is being super nitpicky. The location isn't in the best part of town.* Food: I would say the portion is pretty good for the price, especially with inflation these days. My egg rolls were still crispy when I got them. I could drink a whole pot of this stuff, it was full of flavor, I could taste cilantro in it, which I personally love. I parked for a minute and decided to just go home because I didn't feel safe going in on my own (I'm a small girl by myself at night and there was a man just standing around outside his car between me and the entrance). When I got home I decided I still wanted to try it because I had been craving Gai n Rice (similar restaurant) for weeks now, so I placed an order through DoorDash. My order was picked up 15 minutes after placement. Speedy service! I was a bit sad when the Gai n Rice by my place had to temporarily close down, so I'm really happy this is an option nearby now. Hopefully they will add more to their menu down the line like, mango sticky rice. I will definitely order from here again and try some of their other food options next time! So I found out about this particular hainan chicken dish online one day, and was anxious to try it when I found it on Uber eats. I ordered chicken potstickers (steamed) and the hainan chicken and rice, with extra sauce. The blend of the flavors from the gyoza sauce alone! It had a good balance of sweetness/acidity/salt, that paired well with the potstickers. The chicken with the sauce was AMAZING. Top 10 dishes in Sacramento tbh, it was perfectly spicy, the broth was amazing, the rice was flavored. I can't say enough about it. I recently ordered the Crispy Chicken with Rice and Hainan Chicken Rice from Cluckin' Good through DoorDash, and let's just say my taste buds were in for a surprise--just not the good kind! First up, the crispy chicken must have taken a detour through the deep fryer express lane. By the time it arrived, it was so oily that I half expected it to come with a side of napkins and an oil change coupon. Seriously, the oil was pooling at the bottom of the container like a mini swimming pool. I was tempted to grab a snorkel and dive in! As for the Hainan Chicken Rice, I substituted white meat, but somehow ended up with the driest chicken this side of the Sahara. It was so dry, I thought it might spontaneously combust into chicken jerky. And where was the skin? The poor chicken seemed to have left its coat at home, leaving me with a dish that was about as traditional as a pizza at a sushi bar. Cluckin' Good? More like Cluckin' Oil Slick and Dry Desert! This meal was more of a comedy of errors than a culinary delight. I hope Cluckin' Good takes a page from the recipe book of success and makes some improvements for future diners. ive seen a few videos on instagram about this place and figured id try it after work, i ordered the half & half of the hainanese chicken and the crispy chicken, and ive got to say, its definitely one of the better hainanese chicken places in town. the old lady who handed me my food was so nice and very appreciative, which made me want to support this business even more. i loved that the hainanese chicken has that perfect subtle flavor, the brine on the chicken is definitely very well done, and once you get to that garlic sauce, its just one of the best bites you could put in your mouth. the rice absorbed so much flavor from the cooking process of the chicken too, which was definitely my favorite part, especially since it was moist, but not wet, which i find some other hainanese chicken places in sac dont really perform too well in. the crispy chicken was fantastic too, i had taken it home for my sister to try and it was still perfectly crispy even after 20 minutes of staying in the box. the flavor of the crispy chicken was quite good as well, it wasnt just crunchy bland chicken, it was seasoned well, and that garlic sauce on top made it all the better. and i dont think i mentioned that garlic sauce yet but its pretty great, i definitely enjoyed it and my sister gobbled up the rest of the chicken so it was for sure little sister approved as well. i also got the thai tea, which is never a wrong decision and was also quite good as well. the price for what i got was 21.75 after taxes, which is not bad, but i also think i got more enjoyment out of eating the food than i was expecting so i'm still pretty happy with this pricepoint, especially since the portions of both chicken dishes were a decent serving. i really hope this place gets its own dine in shop one day, i'd love to sit down and enjoy this after work. i'll definitely come back again whenever i have the time :) read more
