A must try when in the area. One of my go to Thai spots in Sacramento when I'm in town. Everything I've tried here is delish. I will say my recent visit I ordered cashew chicken and egg rolls. The serving size of the cashew chicken feels like it has decreased since my last visit YEARS ago. But still enough for one to have some left overs if portioned strategically. Flavor and medium spice level are always on point! Service is decent for to go order that I placed. Wait wasn't too long. Ambiance as you can see from the pictures is very quaint, nicely decorated dining room.

On a weekday afternoon during lunchtime, Sawasdee is filled with groups of customers, with tables being about half full. I ordered their Pad See Ew with pork to-go, and my order was ready within 15 minutes. The portion size was reasonable, and all the ingredients tasted fresh. I wish that the noodles were slightly more flavorful, but there was a generous amount of pork and vegetables in the dish. This was a great comfort dish, and I'm excited to try some of their other dishes in the future, including their Pineapple Fried Rice.

Back again after a year, and it didn't disappoint! But it took me a long time to write this - totally forgot I started this review, and that was more than 2 weeks ago, LOL. We had fond memories of this restaurant, we made sure to plan it into our schedule to come back here on our trip up to Sac this year. This time, we were also prepared for large portions of food, and ended up planning all our leftovers so we could DRIVE the food back down to the LA area on our last day in Sac! Yup, we liked it THAT much! Everything was the same - comfy & classy atmosphere, and friendly and helpful staff. We noticed that a lot of people came in for takeout as well - so they must be well-known in the area! A few new things on the menu we totally enjoyed - Seafood Medley, Mango Cashew Chicken & Avocado Curry. The Seafood Medley is NOT small - and all the seafood is actually fried & crispy, including their basil! Despite taking it back home, and not staying crispy, it was still really, really tasty - rich flavor! I really enjoyed the Avocado Curry as well - it was a sweeter flavor of curry and it was nice and thick. LOVED the food! They asked us why we would bring their food back, especially when there was plenty of Thai food in the SoCal...we told them it was because it was delicious and worth the effort! :) I'm already looking forward to our next visit - Sac folk, keep supporting this family-owned small business!!

Located in Midtown on J Street, we have passed by many times without stopping in. This time we did and are glad for having done so. The interior is simple and clean, with a large patio out front that (it appears) they open the entire front of the building to expose the interior to the exterior patio in the warmer months. Our server was super kind and efficient throughout our meal. We started with the fried potstickers (you can have them steamed or fried) then ordered the papaya salad - this was fresh and not so spicy, which was a nice change from the larb salads we would normally order. Next was drunken noodles with chicken, and the Panang curry with pork (always my benchmark for restaurants). Both of these dishes came out fresh and hot with lots of flavor and the proteins were fresh and tender. A very good meal indeed. I want to come back when they have the front patio open.

Sawasdee Thai Cuisine is located on J Street and 19th Street. They have a good-looking, casual dining area. But, it's street parking only so finding a spot can be challenging during busy times. My work team and I have our group lunches at Sawasdee and they do a great job of taking care of us. They set up our tables beforehand and our food comes out quickly (we place our orders in prior to arriving). We love how accommodating they are - no matter how large our group is. Their food is delicious. We tried a number of dishes but their pad thai is one of my favorites. They can, of course, adjust spice levels but I find that they generally season their items on the safe side (nothing overpowering).

If I lived in Sacramento, this would be my go-to Thai spot--I'd be here every week! We ordered the Laotian papaya salad spicy, and it was perfect--bold spice, bright tang, and incredibly flavorful. The drunken noodles had the ideal smoky wok flavor with just the right level of heat. The pad Thai was just as impressive, with a great balance of sweetness, acidity, and savory depth. Their chili oil was a standout--rich, fragrant, and added so much depth to every dish. If you're looking for amazing Thai food in Sacramento, this is the place to go!

Tried Sawasdee for the first time. It's located on the corner and has street parking only. Decent size restaurant with about 10ish tables that seat 2-4 people comfortably. Good service as well. Tried their: Appetizer sampler 9/10. Great selections of appetizers. Beef Drunken Noodles 9/10 Chicken eggplant dish 9/10 Everything was delicious and great portions.

Friendly service, good food. Nice place to hang out with a big sized group. To be honest, the food is just ok, with everything being on the too-sweet side. Flavors weren't popping as far as Thai places go. Red curry Asked for mild and they said "it's Thai" lol. But it was mild with a nice kick. Laab pork Warm pork. Came with cabbage slices, but more like strips and wedges, and too small to make wraps out of. Flavors weren't popping, per se, but it was pretty good. Drunk noodles spicy it's ok. Much rather go with the curry or laab. Pork belly It's also ok. But much rather go with the curry or laab.

Well, already 2000+ reviews, so I guess I'm late to the party. But.....glad we eventually ended up here. My mom is visiting, and we met up with friends as well. We ordered a smorgasbord of Thai dishes. Two fried rice orders: crab and pineapple....both really good. I've has fried rice that tastes...."stale." My favorite was the salmon curry...the sauce had a small kick to it, and the salmon itself was cooked well. However, the spring rolls had lettuce in it that tasted....old. Not fresh at all. Another disappointment, was the fried snapper. We all were assuming....a FRIED snapper. It was veggies, soft and mushy breaded snapper, covered in sauce. Perhaps describe that dish a little more clearly on the menu. Essentially, some amazing dishes, but....there were some misses, too. The customer service was good....water always refilled, and we were allowed to eat family style and have a good time. I would recommend this restaurant, and would return, but maybe omit some dishes

Came into Sawasdee's for the first time earlier this week. A group of friends of mine decidedly to have dinner here after Jui Jitsu and arrived about 20 to 9pm as a party of 12. The staff welcomed us and noted they closed at 9:30, so we weren't sure at first if we could be seated. But the staff quickly got things together and sat us after combining several tables of 4. We all looked over the menus for a few minutes and got water and Thai teas are we ready our orders. Since there was a larger number of us and my group likes to eat family style, and be able to try various dishes. We went ahead and order the following dishes for our whole group: Appetizers: Gyoza Main Courses: Crab Pad Thai Thai Steak Thai Coconut Curry Crab Fried rice (hot) Menu drinks: Thai Tea Overall: Great food, and great prices. Staff were friendly and very attentive, and had our dishes to us pretty quickly. I also appreciate them accommodating us still at the time we arrived, but wished it came off more hospitably. Since it gave the impression to hurry up, as soon as we sat down. Honestly I originally thought after they noted the time several times, that they were going to turn my group away. Thankfully we ended up being done and left about 15 mins after closing, and still enjoyed our meals not being rushed. Would come back and would recommend.

Sometimes I just crave a sweet treat and this place excelled! I have tried mango sticky rice all over Sacramento and this by far is my favorite! Our waitress was really nice too and the food was fresh.

Overall? I thought that this place crushed it. The curry was really good, like, dangerously close to ordering a second entree level good. They've got all the Thai classics you'd expect, plus a few curveballs if you're in the mood to have a culinary adventure. Service was quick and everything hit the table hot and ready Parking? Street options I had: Green curry (medium heat) + beef (4.5/5): Silky, aromatic, and rich without being heavy, the sauce nailed that perfect blend of creamy coconut, bright green chili, and punchy herbs. The beef was good but yeah, I could've used more of it. That's the only knock. Still, the dish was balanced, bold, and straight-up satisfying. Five out of five, with a side of don't be shy with the protein next time

Overall a great experience! My first time trying Thai curry and it was AMAZING!! The curry with the rice was so delicious. The appetizer sampler was a great opener where you got to try many things. I mean you can't go wrong with a spring roll hehe. The Thai tea was amazing!! One of the best I've had. Pad Thai was ok, still one of the top I've had but I think mine just needed more peanuts and bean sprouts. Service was great though! Super friendly and and sure we always had water too (which was nice cause it was HOT). Cant wait to go back in a cooler month and try the outdoor seating. Parking here isn't too bad since since there are a lot of other businesses near by. Def wouldn't go on a market morning though since it's always crazy busy!

We did our best "research project" and ordered everything our table could justify: Thai iced coffee, coconut canopy salad, pad see ew and pad Thai with pork belly, sunset curry with tilapia, and mango sticky rice with ice cream. For science, obviously. Thai Time should put a warning label on their Thai iced coffee. One sip through each layer and the conversation stopped. We woke up. The taste buds clocked in for work. The brain sent out the announcement: "Cancel all distractions -- apparently dinner has plans for us." Good thing we listened. Thammasorn then proceeded to take us on a full Thai flavor adventure. This wasn't just dinner. This was a carefully organized attack on our ability to say, "No thanks, I'm full." The coconut canopy salad started fresh and bright, the noodles brought the comfort, the pork belly brought the celebration, the sunset curry with tilapia brought the "wait, everyone try this" moment. And the mango sticky rice with ice cream showed up at the end like a victory parade. I always read the bad reviews because I'm fascinated by the rare human ability to find sadness while surrounded by curry, noodles, and people being nice to you. They are to be safely ignored. Our experience? Five stars out of 10. Beautiful flavors, warm service, and that special energy you only get when the people behind a place actually care. Thank you, Thammasorn and Thai Time. Sacramento is lucky to have you.

It's usually 5 to 6 females working their tits off. We arrived before they opened at 4 PM and were the second ones in the door. The restaurant filled up very fast and there was also to go orders and people were arriving waiting for seats or signing to take the food to go. I'm so happy to see this business is thriving. There, Tom, Yum and Tom Kay soups are absolutely perfectly flavored have a ton of chicken. If you order chicken, you can also order tofu or shrimp. I'm not sure if management or chef has changed but their food is not what I remembered from years ago. We initially ordered their tofu pad thai and gai yang and immediately noticed how pricey their menu was. They have a wall of specials and I remember being shocked that their orange chicken was $24. I didn't mind paying more than what I was used to for my pad thai because I remembered their food was delicious but I was shocked when my pad thai came out. It was literally drowned in sauce and looked like it was a bowl of noodle soup. I was still optimistic hoping that it tasted better than it looked but it just tasted like sweet rice noodle soup. I was hesitant to bring it up to the waitress after two bites but so glad I did because I would have hated myself if I left without saying anything. The waitress was kind and offered to remake the dish. Instead, I opted for something else because I was afraid to be disappointed again. I ordered their tofu drunken noodles since I've gotten it here before and remember it being tasty. I confirmed that the drunken noodle was going to be a dry noodle dish and thankfully it was. It was good but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had their gai yang which is a marinated grilled chicken dish. He said it was pretty dry without the sauce on the side but the sweet chili sauce provided was pretty tasty. It's probably not worth $26 given the how dry the chicken was and he said he would never order it again. Overall, the customer service was great and portions were good. I had to deduct 3 stars from my previous review as the food quality has significantly gone down in my experience and doesn't justify the high menu prices in my opinion.

The thing that grabbed my attention, though, was the ceiling! I loved the way it was decorated. So cute and vibrant. We were the only ones there for a while, so it was quiet. The staff were super attentive the moment we walked in. They greeted us warmly, asked how many would be dining, and they brought over waters and menus. My other friend was still parking. Plenty of parking, btw. The menu laid out each dish wonderfully, so we didn't have to guess anything. We ended up ordering an array of foods including green Thai curry, which came with rice, some steamed buns, dumplings, and noodles. Everything was delicious! When I'm in the area, I'll definitely visit again.

The food was a mix of highs and misses. When they got it right, it really worked. When they didn't, it felt flat. The mango curry carried the meal. The green curry dragged it down. Everything else sat somewhere in the middle Parking? Lot We had: Chicken Satay (4/5): Flavor wise, this was locked in. One of the better peanut sauces I've had. Nutty, slightly sweet, with enough depth to keep it interesting. The problem was execution. It came out lukewarm, which dulled the whole experience and made it feel less fresh than it should have. Also could've used more sauce. Still good, just not quite dialed Green Curry (2.5/5): This one just didn't show up. The flavors felt muted and never really came together. The vegetable mix was fine, but it needed more eggplant to give it some body and identity. The chicken was forgettable. Nothing offensive, just flat. Easy pass Mango Curry (4.5/5): This is where things turned around. Bright, layered, and actually interesting. Real mango brought a natural sweetness that worked instead of overwhelming, and the sauce had depth. It felt composed. The vegetables could've been more evenly distributed and the chicken was just okay, but overall this was the standout and absolutely worth ordering again
