I had a god experience at this salon. I arrived earlier than my appointment and was greeted by Cjai. The receptionist was warm and welcoming as well, she let me know it would be a bit of a wait which was fine with me because I had time to do a Starbucks run. When I came back they started on my hair promptly and had me done in 45 mins. I did the "Cosmotai" and love it!

This is how my hair turned out....

This location has truly gone downhill. It's sad. I arrived promptly at 5:30PM for my 5:30PM appointment to which I was told to 'Have a seat.' (My thoughts: Uhhhhh Ok??? Am I checked in? Can you please confirm?) I waited for an available stylist to begin my wash at 6PM, yes, 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment (at the same establishment who has a strict 15 minute grace period policy for patrons who are running late). I unfortunately couldn't leave as I am headed out of town for a wedding and needed my hair styled today. My hairstylist had no idea what she was doing when it came to washing my hair (the shampoo was terrible - she didn't warn me of the 'cool rinse' they do, she literally said 'You been here before, you know we do the cold rinse...' My thoughts again: 'Yeah, I do, but I am typically prompted when it's going to be switched to cool, and the water is never ICE COLD - this water was ICE COLD'. I don't even know whether my stylist used conditioner. She was ripping my hair out of my head (which was her version of detangling long, thick, curly hair I guess) and left shampoo in my hair, which resulted in my blowout (it was supposed to have been a Manhattan style - the sleek, straight style they advertise) being a greasy, product-filled mess. I asked for a middle part in my hair and she told me I was all set and had not event touched my part. It was at this moment I began to grow frustrated and asked for her to at least attempt to give me a middle part. The photo shown with the striped top is how I left the salon. The photo in the black is of how my hair usually looks when leaving a Drybar location - Drybar in Old Town Alexandria is amazing, by the way. I asked for a stylist who had experience with getting very long, thick, curly hair as pin-straight as possible (I even referred to wanting a silk press) and I left looking just as bad as I came. I could have done this at home and not wasted my time or money. I unfortunately had to leave and couldn't ask for a new stylist (and I also felt like my hair was rushed due to a woman who had a 6:30 pm appointment who showed up on time, but she, too, experienced a 30-minute wait time after checking in and didn't get sat in the stylist chair until, get this - 7PM, which is when this Drybar location CLOSES. The poor woman was desperate for someone to stay late and service her because she had to go to work and could not go to work in the state her hair was in - (she was near tears and said she'd get fired if she showed up to work looking like she did). I tried to give this salon another chance, and unfortunately they're still on the same BS they were on when I wrote my last poor review here. From the other negative experiences other patrons had, I can assure you, it's not just 'angry women having bad days', this place really needs to get it together. New managers, new receptionists, new stylists, EVERYTHING.

Entrance to DryBar George Town. I loved the gray and yellow accents.

This review is for Sera…read more I completely understand that a stylist's time is valuable, and I know it's frustrating when clients are late. I also understand why my appointment needed to be rescheduled. My issue is not with the policy, it's with how I was treated. I was made to feel like an inconvenience from the moment I walked into the salon. I had a 12:45 p.m. appointment and called before leaving home to let the salon know I was running about 10 minutes late, which is their stated grace period. The receptionist told me she would let Sera know. At 12:56 p.m., when I was literally one minute away from the salon, I received a call saying Sera could no longer see me because I was late, and she had back-to-back clients. While I was disappointed, I understood. I asked if I could still come in briefly to speak with Sera because I wasn't even sure I needed a full highlight service, and the receptionist agreed. When I arrived, Sera immediately told me I needed to reschedule and seemed unwilling to discuss my hair beyond commenting that the back was "really dark" and explaining that she had returning clients scheduled after me. She didn't seem to know or care that I was a returning client. Sera had done my hair in February, and I came back because I had really liked her work. Not recognizing me in and of itself is not a big problem--I know a lot of people sit in her chair--but it made the interaction feel impersonal and left me wondering if she'd even prepared for my appointment. I was fully prepared to work with Sera and the receptionist to find another date and time that fit both of our schedules. Instead, both were unhelpful, dismissive, and rude. This experience was especially difficult because I have pretty severe alopecia areata that, thankfully, is now well controlled with medication, allowing me to grow most of my hair back. That said, I wore a wig for five years after losing most of my hair, so finding a stylist I trust is still an incredibly vulnerable and anxiety-producing experience. Every time I see someone new, I have to explain my hair loss and why I prefer a lived-in color that doesn't require overly frequent trips to the salon. I chose to return to Sera because I thought I had found someone I could continue seeing. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and genuinely upset. I walked out of the salon, called my husband, and cried like a reprimanded little girl. I am a 35-year-old grown-ass woman. Policies are important, and I respect them. Kindness and professionalism are just as important. Had the situation been handled with empathy and respect, I would have happily rescheduled. Instead, I left feeling less like a person and more like a time slot or a dollar sign. It seems like Sera may have enough clients that turning one away isn't a big deal, but I was respectful, cooperative, and ready to work with her to find another appointment. I deserved that same courtesy and respect in return.

I had an appointment booked and was called the day of -- 4 hours before my actual appointment, to reschedule because they double booked. Had to cancel my plans for the evening to make it to the only late appointment available for rescheduling. The person who contacted me was rude along with the person who checked me out. I expected more from a spa that has a strict cancellation and rescheduling policy. Also, completed forms in advance that aren't used to inform the appointment. My package came with a beverage that I was never served. I had to ask about it as I was checking out and ended up just leaving it. It's unfortunate that I will not go back because the aesthetician and masseuse were great. Tipped them well because it's not their fault. I hope the spa improves its customer service and has consideration for client's time & displays appreciation for their business.

Two stylists eventually came out, but neither acknowledged me. When I kindly greeted them and mentioned I needed to be checked in, they proceeded to take two other waiting customers. When I asked if the salon was running behind, I was told that they were short-staffed and that I could either wait or rebook--without so much as an apology. I ultimately waited nearly an hour past my scheduled appointment time before being taken back. Throughout the experience, the staff was curt and condescending, which was both surprising and disappointing. I've been a loyal Drybar customer for over ten years and have visited locations across the country. This was by far the poorest experience I've had. If a stylist was unavailable, I would have appreciated a courtesy call so I could adjust my plans accordingly. I have now reached out through multiple channels -- including private message, email, and the post-visit survey -- and have yet to receive any response. Thank you for your time and prompt attention to this matter.
