My stylist was upbeat and friendly but the blowout took forever and 5 minutes after I left my hair was completely flat, frizzy and greasy. I had to go home immediately and redo it myself. It saddens me to see the low ratings. The team works really hard. Even while serving clients, they stop to welcome guests as they enter. They also ask at the end of service if they were satisfied with their styling, and they're all really good stylists. I've been twice in the last month (my style lasted that long!). Each time, women's hair look amazing as they leave. One thing I think REALLY needs to happen is a deep, professional cleaning and paint touch up on the inside. It's an older building and the stained walls, floors, outlet covers, etc. need some serious maintenance. read more

Just 30 minutes before appointment, Drybar called to let me know that they could not take me anymore because they were down a stylist and backed up, and said there was "nothing they could do for me." Extremely unprofessional and left me scrambling to rebook an appointment elsewhere which is extremely hard to do last minute. I am a loyal double barfly customer who truly appreciates the great service I get at Georgetown's Drybar location on a weekly basis. I really do wish you would consider purchasing some cushioned floor mats for the stylists to stand on. Many of them work long shifts and it would be so much better on their back and joints to have the absorption of a rubber mat rather than a hard tiled flioor to stand on all day! I was able to book an appointment fairly quickly because there was a lot of availability which was a plus. The parking situation was surprisingly a breeze considering its location. My stylist was very knowledgable and got me in and out quickly with my blowout service. I'm still shocked by how I was treated today. I had a confirmed appointment at this location, and even called while on my way from Annapolis to reconfirm. The receptionist assured me everything was set. When I arrived on time, I was told my stylist had decided to leave early, and that they were overbooked. My appointment was simply canceled on the spot -- no apology, no explanation, and absolutely no effort to offer a solution. I explained that I drove a long way and had a professional meeting to attend. Instead of showing understanding, the staff responded with cold indifference. I was left standing there, humiliated and deeply upset by the lack of empathy or professionalism. I've never experienced anything like this. Drybar Georgetown treated me like I didn't matter. Very Disappointing. I've been to this location before and have been satisfied. Most recently, I was assigned a mediocre stylist. Kim was uninterested in what I had to say about my hair, seemed bored, and kept looking at her phone. I asked her to blow it out with some fullness and movement. She blew out in ten minutes, and it was totally flat and lifeless. Then she started applying hairspray without asking. The blowout was gone the next day. Kim has been there for 12 years. This location has truly gone downhill. It's sad. I arrived promptly at 5:30PM for my 5:30PM appointment to which I was told to 'Have a seat.' (My thoughts: Uhhhhh Ok??? Am I checked in? Can you please confirm?) I waited for an available stylist to begin my wash at 6PM, yes, 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment (at the same establishment who has a strict 15 minute grace period policy for patrons who are running late). I unfortunately couldn't leave as I am headed out of town for a wedding and needed my hair styled today. My hairstylist had no idea what she was doing when it came to washing my hair (the shampoo was terrible - she didn't warn me of the 'cool rinse' they do, she literally said 'You been here before, you know we do the cold rinse...' My thoughts again: 'Yeah, I do, but I am typically prompted when it's going to be switched to cool, and the water is never ICE COLD - this water was ICE COLD'. I don't even know whether my stylist used conditioner. She was ripping my hair out of my head (which was her version of detangling long, thick, curly hair I guess) and left shampoo in my hair, which resulted in my blowout (it was supposed to have been a Manhattan style - the sleek, straight style they advertise) being a greasy, product-filled mess. I asked for a middle part in my hair and she told me I was all set and had not event touched my part. It was at this moment I began to grow frustrated and asked for her to at least attempt to give me a middle part. The photo shown with the striped top is how I left the salon. The photo in the black is of how my hair usually looks when leaving a Drybar location - Drybar in Old Town Alexandria is amazing, by the way. I asked for a stylist who had experience with getting very long, thick, curly hair as pin-straight as possible (I even referred to wanting a silk press) and I left looking just as bad as I came. I could have done this at home and not wasted my time or money. I unfortunately had to leave and couldn't ask for a new stylist (and I also felt like my hair was rushed due to a woman who had a 6:30 pm appointment who showed up on time, but she, too, experienced a 30-minute wait time after checking in and didn't get sat in the stylist chair until, get this - 7PM, which is when this Drybar location CLOSES. The poor woman was desperate for someone to stay late and service her because she had to go to work and could not go to work in the state her hair was in - (she was near tears and said she'd get fired if she showed up to work looking like she did). I tried to give this salon another chance, and unfortunately they're still on the same BS they were on when I wrote my last poor review here. From the other negative experiences other patrons had, I can assure you, it's not just 'angry women having bad days', this place really needs to get it together. I was feeling good about making this appointment at first. The front desk person was friendly and welcoming. I asked if they have walk-ins, she said they only had an appointment available at 7pm. I said no problem I'll come back then and made an appointment. I walked back in at 6:30 because at that point I was just killing time. I checked in with the same front desk person and she said thanks for coming in early and I sat down. After a few minutes she comes up to me to tell me that a stylist can take me earlier and I said great. She then provides to say, "but I want to make sure I tell you that if the blowout goes over 90minutes the price goes from $59 to $99." ?!?! Huh? The important thing to note here is I'm Black. I have Black hair. I know that I've spent more time than 90minutes in a chair before. I also know that people could easily extend the time so that it goes over 90 minutes. For that to be a policy at any salon is crazy to me and also does not make me ever want to go to any dry bar again. I ended up saying to her that I have Black hair so obviously it will go over that and said I'm good and left. I'm pretty disappointed by this especially since all the stylists were also Black. I've been to Drybar salons throughout Florida and the Drybar formerly in DuPont Circle. I've never had a disappointing experience. In fact, I've always been extremely pleased with my experiences up until now. Let me explain. Upon entering the salon, I was greeted and asked to take a seat. The salon was packed and the receptionist told me they were running behind. Not a big deal, as this can happen. While sitting in the waiting area though I noticed the salon wasn't very clean. You could see dirt all over the white large lamp shades and the floors didn't look like they had been mopped for days. When I was taken back to the wash bowls, I noticed lots of hair still remained in two of the bowls I walked past. I looked before sitting down at mine and I didn't see any hair present though. Once shampooed and rinsed, I was sent back to the stylist chair with a towel that was so old, it could barely hold the water of my dripping wet hair. I remained at the stylist chair by myself for a good eight minutes trying to protect my shirt from the water constantly dripping from my head. When my stylist finally returned, she began drying my hair and talking loud enough over the hairdryer to other stylists around us about how late they had to work and if the last customers came in even a few minutes late, they weren't going to give a fifteen minute grace period. They would be out the door. Not the type of talk anyone should want or need to hear. After blow drying and curling most of my hair, she announced I was finished. However, she hadn't curled or styled my bangs or the top part of my head. I looked partially finished. I politely asked her to fix the top of my hair and bangs, to which she answered she had finished. If my hair looked finished, why would I have asked her to style the area that was clearly missed? I was done at this point tolerating her attitude, so I quickly styled my hair with my hands, asked for some hairspray and pulled on my coat. As I did, the stylist's disposition did a total 360. A huge smile suddenly fell across her face as she asked if I could Venmo her my tip so she didn't have to wait for Drybar to get it to her. I was speechless. No, I didn't Venmo her a tip after the unprofessionalism shown to me during the entire appointment. I won't be going back to this Drybar location. Again, I want to stress I have only had positive experiences at other Drybar locations. This review is my opinion based on my own experience. read more

This is an incredibly difficult review to write considering I have been a loyal Drybar customer for the past 13 years. Unfortunately since the change of ownership, the customer service and overall quality of the service has rapidly declined. I still remained loyal. However, this Sunday I had an appointment and arrived about 10 minutes late. The receptionist without even asking her stylists whether they could still accommodate me turned me away and said they could not see me. Despite the humiliation, the fact that the Drybar is a 20 minute drive from my place and the numerous times I have patiently waited for up to 40 minutes due to staff shortages, I obliged and left. Did the humiliation end there? NO! They had the audacity to charge me a $59 no show fee! When I tried to call and explain that this was a mistake, of course nobody answers the phone. I emailed Drybar. Nothing! Well guess what? This was the last straw. I have spent thousands of dollars throughout the years on Drybars across different states. No more! You have lost a loyal customer. I hope whoever reads this, understands that there are probably many more disgruntled customers like myself and I am not an exception. Do better if you want to continue to stay in business. What a pity. read more

Went for a mother/daughter day and experience was a let down. Staff was more interested in talking to each other and rushing to a smoke break than paying attention to our hair. This is the third drybar I have tried in the city. As a black woman I'm honestly always nervous about who my stylist will be because its all random. I intentionally always make sure I note that I need a stylist that is extremely comfortable with doing black hair. Drybar Georgetown didn't disappoint. The stylist Tracy did an excellent job blowing out my 4a/4b hair and straightening it. The reason why I rated the experience a 4 and not 5 because I feel like she could have washed my hair better. I suffer from eczema of the scalp which causes my scalp to be extremely dry. To get my scalp clean it generally takes 3 good washes and one needs to include scrubbing. Tracy did 2 washes and I asked her to check that my scalp was clean. She check and claimed it was. But as I suspected it wasn't completely especially around the edge. This is the second time this has happened to me at Drybar. I guess you get what you pay for. But I wish the stylist would take just a little more time in working with clients. It feels like a sweat shop im some ways where they have to keep to a schedule no matter what. I would pay for an extra shampoo if its about timing thing. read more

My first time ever at a Drybar and I don't think I'd ever go back. I came with 4 other people and we all collectively did not have a good experience nor did we enjoy the way our hair looked after the service was completed. We all asked for scalp massages and none of us got them. When asked when the scalp massages would occur, we were told they didn't realize despite having the papers that had our services listed out. The people were not friendly and they were not communicative. The blow dryer was a little too close to my scalp most of the time, ouch! I'd excuse the outcome of my hair if the service was better but it was just awful. It was not an enjoyable experience and really unfortunate to hear that the rest of my party felt the same. read more

I'm sorry to say after two incredibly disappointing experiences I can absolutely not recommend this DryBar location. I have had amazing services at other drybar locations but the Georgetown salon should not be in business. I made an appointment for 5:30 (see photo) and arrived around 5:25 for a blowout ahead of my anniversary dinner. I was looking forward to a blowout and whatever style the stylist recommended. Upon checkin the receptionist informed me that I would need a "dry style" as my stylist had places to be and I was late for my 5:15 appointment. I apologized and said I had booked a 5:30 appointment, was there any way they could accommodate a shampoo as my hair was in need of a wash. The salon was empty with no other guests and their hours stated they would be open for another two hours. She was short and said- she has places to be- dry style only. With no other alternative this late on a Saturday, I sat down for a dry style with the promise of dry shampoo. 15 minutes later I left with Shirley temple curls, no dry shampoo and a disappointing experience. I'm loathed to give 1 star but after the complete lack of service and rude receptionist, I can't give anything else. Had a 3.15 appointment, I arrived about 10 mins early. Receptionist very rudely told me she only had 2 stylists so there would be a wait. I checked that she knew I had a 3.15 appointment and she said yes. I'm happy to wait for a while but at 3.30 I was looking at the receptionist and she rudely said 'can I help you' and I asked if she knew how long it might be. She shrugged her shoulders, and with attitude said 'as long as it takes, maybe another 15 minutes'. She then got up and went over to the stylists and whispered something and they all giggled, like girls in the school yard. Not what I was expecting from a business. Destiny took me just after 3.50 and finished up at 4.45. She did a good blow dry and no complaints about that. She on her own deserves a good rating. However, during the blow dry the receptionist came over to talk to the 2 stylists and they all then had loudly complained and moaned to each other about the store management and how are they expected to work like this, etc etc. really unprofessional and the other customer looked at me as if to say 'why do we need to listen to this'. The conversation was clearly said in front of us for effect. At no point did anyone apologize for them being nearly 40 minutes late. If I was 15 minutes late I get a cancel fee, but them being late - not even a sorry. Just a huge amount of attitude from the receptionist. That, along with them all talking about the management in front of customers, I just can't get past it. I will never come back to this Drybar. When I checked out the receptionist ended with a 'have a great day' in the most sarcastic tone. If management read this - you have a real problem with the Sunday staff. Yikes. I booked a blowout for the very first appointment of the day at 8am - a rare treat as the mother of a toddler who barely gets to get out! But what I thought would be my "spa Saturday" became "feel small" Saturday. When I arrived they refused to honor my appointment for a dry style. Their reason was that my hair was slightly damp (I'd showered and dried before according their instructions!). It felt a bit silly since I was standing in a room full of blow driers and easily could have taken two minutes to dry it a bit more if that was a Deal breaker. What added insult to injury was their tone :/ I would have understood if they'd even made an attempt to apologize or offer an alternate time on their schedule but they just said they were booked back to back and so were all the other nearby locations. Under no circumstances should you purchase a barfly membership! After finally purchasing over the phone, I mistakenly was assigned to LA. Well, after horrible service for 2 months (incorrect charges, frequently late appointments, etc) , I cancelled my membership in May WITH written confirmation. Come to find out, I continued to be charged for 5 months. When I finally reached out to Trish Sam, the manager, took me over 5+ emails and 4 unanswered voicemails over 1 week to get any response. When she finally did I was told to "sorry you're out of LA so i can't help". I had to cancel my credit card just to get my membership cancelled. 5 years ago this place was great. Now it is beyond terrible and a scam...after looking at the better business bureau, many others seem to have the exact same issue. Just horrible they can scam! read more

I was excited to go to dry bar since I hadn't been since pre covid days, i used to go a lot when I lived in Los Angeles and always had a good experience. Well, I will no longer be giving my business to them and would encourage others not to either. Unfortunately, there was an accident on the key bridge causing me to be 19 minutes late. I tried calling the store when I realized there was an accident, but dry bar phone number led me to some corporate line. Always a bad look when you can't talk to an actual store employee. The person on the phone informed me there was no way to push my appointment and she couldn't guarantee they could see me when I got there, understandable as they are usually booked weekends. Even though I had accepted I probably wouldn't be able to get my hair done and I'd have to find somewhere else last minute (I did by the way), I still wanted to show up in good faith and to ask if I could not be charged the no show fee. When I arrived the woman at the desk confirmed that I wouldn't be able to be seen, fine okay. That I understand, but she also ensured she wouldn't be charging me a cancellation fee of $20. Well, guess what? I got charged. I don't appreciate when businesses don't follow through with what they say they're going to do. The whole experience was frustrating. I really do my best to show up on time to appointments because I respect that people have a job to do, but sometimes life happens. I've never had such a terrible experience with any business in my life. We booked appointments over two weeks ago for my engagement party. We were a few minutes late (due to a few delays with our Uber driver). The nationwide policy is the standard - if you show up 15 min or more late, they charge a fee and your appointment is cancelled. We were less than 10 minutes late. They refused to provide service. They initially pretended it was because of the fact that we were late, but eventually let it slip on accident it was because two stylists just didn't show. We asked them what would happen even if we showed up exactly at 10:00 am or earlier, and they said they "wouldn't get into that with us" but they just "keep it flowing." They refused to refund us even though it was entirely their fault we couldn't get our hair done. We then walked down to M street and got blowouts at evolve and cannot recommend the salon enough. I asked them to help me book an appointment at the penn quarter location because no one answers the phone and the website doesn't allow bookings at that location. Apparently it's full, and they recommended I travel 45 minutes to the Bethesda location instead. This is super disappointing. My daughter had a morning appointment to get ready for her senior photo. The stylist clearly did not want to be doing hair that morning. My daughter asked for her hair to be curled and the stylist repeatedly tried to talk her out of it. The only reason she went was to have the blow-dry and the curls! Thankfully, my daughter did not give in and insisted that the stylist also curl her hair. The stylist then proceeded to do random sizes of curls that we are hoping end up looking ok in her senior portrait. I have called the salon multiple times to speak with the manager and no one ever calls me back. Very disappointing service. read more
