I'm surprised that there are low stars for this location. I really loved my hairstylist Riddhi (not sure if I spelled it right) she was the sweetest and catered to my vision. She guided me through getting an add on for a protectant sealant since my hair has been frizzy when styling and I recently dyed it, offering that glossy look. My hair took like an hour which was expected and she did a wash, blow dry, curl. By the end I was impressed by the results and it lasted all weekend. I purposely went to Drybar to avoid having to style, wash my hair, or use products and it lasted for 4 days! I was Rodeo ready. Thank you to the Drybar team, Rice Village is where it's at. read more

Glad they were able to get me in last minute. I flew in, had an event to attend. It was normal basic wash, blow dry, and flat iron. More pricy than I pay for the same thing back home. The place I frequent wash, plus scalp massage, blow dry, flat iron for half the cost. Maybe it's Houston rates vs. Seattle? Who knows. Gal was friendly enough. I want to share my experience to help others make an informed decision. Unfortunately, I recommend avoiding this location. The manager consistently mismanages appointment policies and is rude and inappropriate when concerns are raised. During my daughter's recent appointment, we were charged an additional $30 for "extended time," despite having previously discussed with the manager that we were not interested in extended services and had asked to be guided to remain within the standard appointment time. We are more than willing to adjust or simplify the style in order to stay within the 45-minute window; however, the policy is applied inconsistently. At times, the same or similar styles are completed within the allotted time without issue, while other visits result in unexpected extended-time charges. This confusion is compounded by the fact that appointment start times are not properly tracked, and some newer stylists take longer to complete services--factors that are outside the client's control. What should be a straightforward visit has become unnecessarily stressful due to poor communication and ineffective appointment management. As a result, we have chosen to avoid this location specifically because of this manager. We are long-time customers of both this location and Drybar overall and have never had issues staying within the standard 45-minute appointment window. I sincerely hope the owner of this branch becomes aware of these recurring issues and takes appropriate action, as this problem has arisen repeatedly and always involves the same manager. After confronting the manager and having a heated discussion (which totally killed the vibes and honestly makes me not ever want to go back here), she did remove the charge, but that doesn't take away from the poor experience and poor policy management. read more

Hands down this is my favorite DryBar to go to. Opal gets me in and out and makes my hair fabulous each time I come in. The team is great and always are on time, very attentive to remembering who you are and what you like. Ask for Opal or anyone she recommends. IF YOU HAVE CURLY HAIR AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS My friends and I with straight hair, all of whom got blowout styles, had a good experience here. They performed services efficiently and as advertised. That said, one of my friends has 3A hair and asked if her hair could be diffused instead of blown out in order to maintain her natural hair texture at check in. The stylists said they offered diffusion services, even though they were not as popular, and would be happy to. After an hour, my friend's hair was, quite frankly, destroyed. It was a dry, frizzy mess with none of the defined curls she entered the salon with. She tried to show her stylist a reference photo of her own hair to potentially fix the style, but the stylist said her hair was "over dried" and only added some product that did not change the style's appearance at all. My friend then ended the appointment and left without trying to further discuss her issues with the style in favor of rushing home to re shampoo, condition, and diffuse her own hair before we had to leave for our event. There was no way to fix the style they had given her without rewashing her hair completely. The next day, she called Drybar to discuss what had happened, and the manager could not offer more than a scalp massage credit. Not only did that not cover the cost of the style, accepting the offer would have meant returning for a service that had already damaged her hair. They would not offer a refund on the grounds that she had not said anything the day of-- the same day she was pressed for time to prepare for an incredibly important event. This particular Drybar location does not accommodate customer satisfaction or different hair types. They claimed to offer diffusion services for curly hair, destroyed a friend's hair texture, and refused to issue a refund. I would recommend any customers with textured hair skip this salon in favor of one that treats their hair better. read more

Review #5 This is my NEW Dry Bar location!! As of Feb 2019 they haven't been open too long and appointments are easy to book online. My wait when I arrived was almost non existent. I strike it odd that they do not have a seating area however I'm sure this will soon change as this location begins to become more popular. I can't imagine they are going to have their clients just standing around as they wait for their stylists. Located right by Starbucks and the same block as Shake Shack. Parking in the garage is free for up to 2 hours or you can find inexpensive metered parking. I was a little shocked they didn't offer me anything to drink however I know the routine at Drybar so I promptly asked if they would get me one which they did. My stylist was fantastic. I'm a sucker for the Mia Thai style and that's exactly what I got. My hair looked great. Let me back up and mention that I wash my hair before I go so I only get it styled. The cost for this is $20 plus tip. I was reading some other reviews that the establishment tried to charge clients more but I can assure you that is just not the case and no one ever mentioned more than $20. So I came today... no appointment but a walk in. I was greeted ( can't really say greeted but acknowledged by the manager) Barbara and wow, did she not care what I needed and didn't want to take me in. The nice person said we had availability at 6:15 (it was 6) and I scheduled it. Then Barbara stated If I wanted to buy anything to do it now as she was pending "inventory" and didn't want to mess that up - oh vey! I just sat down from from getting my hair washed then Barbara came to me mid service and asked me to close out my tab as she needed to leave! (Seriously) the service wasn't even done yet and - to boot - she asked me in front of Yesenia - how much I wanted to tip!! So I was put on the spot and had I been asked after the service was completed I would have tipped much more. Luckily I was presented with Yesenia! Who saved my faith in humanity and the overall experience. She was delightful and a great conversationalist. I thoroughly enjoyed my service with my hair and she did an amazing job. Was refused service today by the manager, Pam, who insisted that it is Drybar's policy to brush out patrons' hair prior to taking them back to shampoo them. I have long curly hair that I wear straight, and which straightens easily, but I don't brush when it's curly. I had just sprayed some Olaplex 0 on my ends prior to coming over, so when the stylist first mentioned she was going to brush my hair out first (which I thought was odd and unnecessary), I politely said "no need!" and didn't think anything of it. Well, she started brushing it out anyway. Then I got the ick, because why would you do something I'd specifically refused? She had a deer in the headlights look, so I figured she wasn't comfortable with textured hair (curly haired folks know not to brush their hair while dry) so I told her she wasn't a good fit, and she went to her manager, and returned and told me she "has to brush out" my hair because it's their policy. I asked the manager, Pam, about this so-called "policy" because that was the first I've heard of it despite being a patron of Drybar since it opened in NYC in 2010 (Drybar even did my hair for my wedding on site in Sonoma!) and have held a Drybar membership for more than 5 years. I have *never* experienced this policy. I have been to Drybar locations all over the country, and typically go to the River Oaks location. I explained all this, but Pam said she doesn't know what "Deon" does in River Oaks, but insisted that it was Drybar's policy. Why not just say, "no worries, if you prefer to skip the brushing, we'll take you back for a wash?" So weird. I find it odd that it's Drybar's policy to require this when the Drybar focus is so much on tailoring the experience to the individual (it's a bar, you order what you want!). Frankly, this felt like a very targeted requirement and a microaggression. Totally unwarranted. I went straight to the River Oaks location and had a great experience there as usual, but it's such a shame as I recently moved to West U and was excited to have a location so close to me. Pam should be offered some sensitivity training, and her stylist should be offered training on basic bodily consent. read more

I absolutely love this salon. The Dry Bar in Rice Village, is my "go to" salon now. You are basically in & out and appointments last around 90 mins and as a toddler mom -this is a no brainer for me. I don't have the time to sit in a salon for 4-5 hours, nor do I care to anymore. I am Black and I have have textured, curly hair- so at first, I was worried that they wouldn't have the correct skills or products to really smooth out and straighten my hair all that good.  Let me tell you HOW WRONG I WAS -LoL! Not only did the Dry Bar stylist Ari (Arismel) know what she was doing, but she has literally TRANSFORMED my hair since I started coming here. Ari gets my hair straight as silk when I leave and my hair is shiny and healthier than it has ever been. I think it's the gentle blowout technique here and the products they use. My hair before was dyed and fried from over bleaching, unnecessary extensions and unhealthy heat. Ari's technique is so good that my blowouts last about a week -which is unheard of with the humidity here.  I can't tell how glad I am to have found this place. My friends all say that my hair is so gorgeous now that it looks like extensions. I take that as the utmost compliment-Lol! I def recommend this place and ask for "Ari" she is the expert there on hair-especially curly, & textured hair. Brianna is excellent for Black or textured hair as well. read more

This was my first time trying dry bar. I walked in around 6:30 on a Friday evening. No appointment. I was told they could take me around 7 and they did. I have long, thick, natural 4b hair (if you are into hair typing) the staff washed and painstakingly detangled my hair. One person washed and began the detangling. Another took over and finished up. I took about 2.5 hours. This experience exceeded my expectations. I wish I could remember the names of the ladies who did my hair! I will be back. So I did go back and the woman who did my hair the first time, Shakira, was not there. The stylist was friendly but my hair didn't come out as well. She didn't use the blow dry technique that was used the first time. It's like she was trying to style my hair and dry it at the same time. It took longer to blow dry my hair and she seemed to be using more heat. I don't remember the dryer being as hot as it was my second time. She also pin curled it too tight. The stylist pincurled it all the way to my scalp. I told her that was not necessary but she said she wanted to do it "right." You can see a big difference in the two pictures. I appreciate the stylist's effort. However, I would like Shakira to do my hair again if I go back. read more
