Prior to using Mar's, we had a different contractor attempt to stain a very large vaulted wood…read moreceiling. That contractor tried multiple times, and always came up short. So we called in Mar. He took one look at it and said "why do you have three different colors?". That started a process where he picked a part of the ceiling in a closet to test. He tried different ways to remove the existing stain and get down to the bare wood. Ultimately, we used a combination of strippers and sanding to get back to the base. His guys were on scaffolds, sometimes on their backs, for weeks working on this enormous project. When they got it stripped, we tested about 5 different shades before deciding on one. Mar and his crew then applied the stain in multiple coats. Some parts of the ceiling needed 3 coats, some needed more. Ultimately Mar's got the job done, then applied two or three coats of polyurethane sealer to make it look consistent. When that was done, they poly'ed the cross beams. The final job was so astounding that a year later, people still come into the Lodge and stare at the ceiling. Subsequent to that, we needed to have various other painting and drywalling jobs done. Over the course of the summer, Mar's painted every single room in our Lodge, and even did work for us outside. All of it was absolutely perfect - zero complaints, everything cleaned up. They even left us the extra paint in case we needed to touch something up. During the process, we had surfaces that hadn't been painted in 40 years and suffered from old cigarette/cigar smoke - they cleaned and sealed all that, then painted. We had surfaces that had been previously painted and needed to be sanded - they took care of that, everything came out great. We chose the wrong shade - and to redo it in the shade we chose after that, Mar came in and ensured it was done to hit our deadline. I checked the door access logs - he'd come in at 2AM some nights to make sure everything was done on time. We had him repaint an apartment, fixing ceiling water damage from an overflowing A/C drain pan. Everything they do is absolutely fantastic. We had chair rail installed in the Lodge Room - but to get the radius for the heater covers would have been prohibitively time consuming and expensive, so we had Mar match the color in paint; and at first glance it looks like wood. He painted our staircase hand rails (which were awfully mismatched before), and they look beautiful. I'm 100% serious when Is say that the jobs were perfect. Zero complaints. Their estimate was fair and i just got a good vibe from Jose Quintanilla who I dealt with primarily. My instincts were spot on. They did the job as professional as you could hope for, not one splash of paint out of place. THe wood problem was worse than we thought once the wood was taken out (it was and I was told by my regular handyman this was probably the case that we'd find more issues as we removed wood); They dealt with this as no problem and the up charge on the additional work was more than fair as well. Terrific people, good communicators (we had a lot of rain delays, and Jose was on top of keeping me abreast of what they planned to do and when, I wasn't left to wonder when are they coming back...) and overall nice people to have around working on your house.

First came and power washed everything a few days before, then on first day of painting removed all old caulk and re-caulked, plus filled any holes. Gave everything 2 coats and on one part that was stain actually gave 3 coats. Original quote did not include foundation, soffit, gutters, front and rear stairs but Jose added those in at a reasonable price, so had those done too. Also painted chimney at no extra charge, On top of all this they completed the job in 2 days. Could tell from first time I had Jose come out to give me a quote he was very knowledgeable and passionate about his business and painting, which I really liked. Our project consisted of extensive drywall repairs after trim and chair rail removal. Painting, Wallpapering a 25ft stairwell, stairway railings, door painting and of course ceilings and trim. The photos don't do the job justice as we had work upstairs, downstairs, and even a repair job to the side of the house from water damage. Steve's employees were extremely skilled, fast, neat perfectionists. They weren't beginners or summer college students. They were very experienced at what they do. The price stuck at exactly what he quoted even though there were some adjustments here and there. The wallpaper job was exemplary and we were very particular about that aspect because it was custom wallpaper and very expensive. Steve is not a pressure salesman and he just does what he says he's going to do, and the work was perfect and fast. From the moment we called to the time the work was completed, it was about 1 week start (quote sent and reviewed) to finish (work completed and paid). They sanded and perfected trim and recently replaced drywall, and primed and painted walls, ceiling, and trim. They were able to use the specific paint brand, quality and color that we selected without a significant price increase. My spouse escalated our request to the owner, George, as he felt that is was Ablaze responsibility…read more George said he would look into the issue. We notified them on 6/12/24, on 6/24 George himself came out to look at the pan and measure the closet to see if a new appropriate drain pan would fit because not all comply with current codes. He ordered the new drain pan, scheduled to have it installed but also commented on the review I left, he asked if he could come by. We said he could come verify our statements when the pan was installed but his team Brian and David were well aware of a number of issues prior to our final payment. Today, August 2nd the new drain pan was installed as George did acknowledge that is the proper installation for the set-up we have. He also reviewed a number of items, offered to fix what he could. While it was a nice offer/gesture, our experience with the team (Brian & David and all the sub contractors) made it impossible for us to accept. George indicated he was not aware and that a number of these items could have easily been punch list items to be taken care, but that option was never given to us. George did in fact reimburse us for a different issue. I'm grateful George stepped in and that he was willing to at least look into it. I'm more grateful he acknowledged and did correct the drain pan and I appreciate his offer to correct what he could. The crew that was here did an excellent job (from what we can tell as of today). It's unfortunate it had to be escalated but I can confidently say, when it was, George did everything he could to get taken care of appropriately. He communicated frequently and everything went very smooth.
