This review is based solely (no pun intended :)) on the great customer service extended by manager Justin and members of his team after online order was not in store after email said ready for pickup 3/7 (I went 3/11. Maybe if I had checked reviews, I would have opted to have delivered to my home or friend...) Wanted shoes for weekend event, and one young lady checked floor for the item-a 9 and a 10 but no 9.5 (I have 4 of this shoe in different colors and fabrications-yes I'm that one...and yes, they are all THAT-comfortable and great looking!) Upon asking for a manager to address my inconvenience, Justin provided an appreciated discount, so much so, that, YES, I ordered ANOTHER PAIR that I already had in the DSW shopping cart on my phone! This review is for the Atlantic Terminal store located downtown Brooklyn. I visited this store a few months ago and then today and was so disappointed in the way the store is kept. I have never seen anything like it before. The store is a such a mess, boxes everywhere, shoes are not organized, you cant even walk in the aisle without the possibility of tripping on something. I really don't understand what happened to this location. I use to frequent this store all of the time in the past and never had any issues. DSW is a great brand but I will not return to this location, it just seems like no one cares. read more

This DSW location is not great at all. Not a very wide selection of shoes, and they do not have the high end section of heels that the other locations have. It seems there are more sneakers and crappy styles that no other store wants that end up there. Better off going to the one at Union Square in Manhattan. read more

This DSW sucks. I placed an order for store pick up and they cancelled both my items the day of the pick up!

I bought a pair of shoes at DSW Union Square,but the next day I realized it was not the right size. So I went back to the store at Union Square to return. I did not wear the shoes, so it should be new. However the cashier and manager refused to take it back and told me the shoes were worn, which was totally absurd. I had no idea I would have so much trouble to return the shoes which I never worn and it was shocking to see how rude they were to me. They were rude and unhelpful. They sold worn shoes to me and when I tried to return because of the wrong size, they denied their responsibility and did not care. I was really upset about their rude and irresponsible attitude. The selection is okay, but why is the checkout line always so long? I feel like the cashiers are especially slow. I am a commuter and on many occasions I have had to put back my purchases and leave because I was about to miss the train. Very frustrating. read more

First a few disclosures: I live nearby and I've never been here on a weekend. This DSW rocks. It's ginourmous. The selection is huge. Most days it's pretty empty. The staff keep it pretty clean and are polite. I have one of the most common shoe sizes -- 7.5 -- and I'm always able to find this size in stock. Would I make the treck out here if I didn't live nearby? Probably not. It's far and the Atlantic mall itself is pretty chaotic. But this store sure beats Union square location. read more

I don't know what has changed, but I have never seen the store at Atlantic Terminal in such a mess. I haven't shopped here since the pick up area was added. It is an eyesore. The aisles were a mess and shoes were in the wrong boxes almost everywhere I looked. The staff who used to be assigned to keep the store in order seemed to be nowhere in sight. I'm a shoe lover who makes a periodic visit for "retail therapy" after a long day at work. Instead of relaxing as I went from aisle to aisle, I was stressed and shocked at the sorry state of the store. I feel disrespected as a shopper and after many years of shopping I doubt that I will be back. read more

This particular DSW location is not the best in the entire world. I get the feeling this store gets the leftovers from other stores in the region so it does not have any shoes you will want to take a elbow to the face. It is ten minutes away from my apartment; a pair of size 9 Timberland zip up "go-go" boots are in my closet. They were in clearance marked $79.99 and when rung up they were $39.99. Went here with my wife.....this place is HUGE! A girl could stay here all day. Not alot of those seats to sit and relax at. So just drop them off and exit out to anyone of the other stores in the mall and pick them up later! read more

Speaking for the men's section, they have a pretty good selection of shoes. Lots of the latest styles (wing tip is totally in right now, you guys) and most sizes are available. They also have a super confusing clearance section, where sticker color determines how much of a discount you get. There's a sign posted to do the math for you, so that's kind of nice. Slim pickins though, especially if you're a common shoe size like me. read more

Line is always ridiculously long. This is even when there's a sale or promotion. There's no WiFi or phone connection. Show shopping should be a joyous occasion but it feels like you're in jail. read more

This is an okay location, Union Square is nicer but its still easy to find stuff here. Same layout but a little smaller. Less inventory, obviously due to size, but you could easily find something here. read more

One star for customer service. I went there recently to get sneakers. There was no my size on display so I asked one girl associate to check if they have my size. She just said to look if there is special label and walked away. I went to another girl, that one was even worse , saying that they don't have more sizes. At that point I had to go upstairs to get reception on my phone to check online if this location had my size of the model I wanted, and.... of course they had. Then my friend told me to ask the boy working there, cause girls there obviously don't want to move a muscle. What are they getting paid for???? I caught a guy and he was nice and went to the back to check and actually brought me my size. So people make sure check online or go after each assistant in the store, or you will never get the pair of shoe you like! CAUSE THEY DONT CARE!!!! read more

For those who have been to DSW, this location is pretty much on par with any other DSW store. They have a great amount of space, filled with shoes, shoes and more shoes. Check the back wall for the clearance section for some additional savings. I found a pair of leather boots reduced to $30 from $149. I can't comment on the service here since it's pretty much a self-serve concept. The ladies at the checkout were friendly and my experience here was a good one. Recommended! read more

Disaster of a DSW. Lines are long and slow. The staff here make inappropriate comments, are obnoxious to you, and unhelpful. None of them look motivated to do a better job than just slightly above the minimum effort. The shoes are always messily stacked, the shop is understaffed and poorly maintained, and it doesn't seem like it's going to get any better for this company. Judging by how much of a mess other branches are, it's just a reflection of how trashy this company can be. read more

Do not waste your time with this location. Not only is the management horribly rude, but the store is a mess, with boxes of shoes all over the place & random third shoes in the clearance boxes. While the girls on the floor were nice & attentive, they did little to clean up the mess--there's almost nowhere to sit to try on shoes from horrible customers leaving boxes anywhere & everywhere. The selection is also pretty limited, with many sizes/styles sold out. I realized this too late, and since I desperately needed shoes for a wedding in 3 days, I sucked it up & went to the DSW in Atlantic Terminal. HUGE mistake. After wasting 3+ hours of my life in that dump of a store, I went to purchase the 2 pairs of shoes in my bag. There is no signage telling you where the line starts. If there is, it's hidden behind a ginormous display of the tackiest bags in the world, so you can't see it unless you're looking at those godawful bags. After I waited for 5 minutes for one of the 4 women at the counter to acknowledge me, the sales clerk or manager told me to wait by the manned registers. I waited & saw another customer nearing the front of the correct line. The cashier & manager (or clerk who told me to wait by the registers in use) then both told the customer that got in line after to me to come to the counter to check out. At that point, I just dropped my bag & left the store, because there was no point in waiting even longer to spend over $100 on shoes. I called customer service immediately, & they were extremely kind. They even offered to expedite shipping on the shoes I was going to purchase (but abandoned due to the horrific service in the Atlantic Terminal store). I would recommend to any & all of those in search of shoes that you stay FAR, FAR AWAY from the Brooklyn/Atlantic Terminal store (that is, unless you enjoy perusing a small selection, being treated like dung, and wading through a messy, crowded store). Just save your subway fare & time, & order your shoes online, since this location provided THE WORST shopping experience of my life. Even Trader Joes on a Saturday morning is more enjoyable! Save yourself the frustration & avoid the Brooklyn/Atlantic Terminal DSW like the plague! read more
