Shortly after our purchase, we received an email which gave us $10 off our next visit. Of course we wanted to take a look! This location on Westheimer Road is gigantic! Immediately, we perused the Clearance Section. Luckily, I didn't find anything and escaped unharmed... LOL! DSW is my got to place to buy most of my shoes. I needed a few pair for work so I decided to go in on one of my off days. They have a large selection for the whole family. They didn't have to be real dressy so there was a large selection to choose from. After walking around trying on many pairs and looking at the prices I finally chose 2 pair. They weer both comfortable and after wear each pair for a day. I am completely satisfied. I will return in the future for my shoe shopping needs. read more

I like to buy my shoes from DSW. All my friends and family know that and I have big family and a lot of friends. So, I get my gifts especially for my birthday were shoes from DSW. My size is 7.5 and 8 sometimes 8.5. Therefore, I always go back to the store to return or exchange the gift shoes with something I like. Unfortunatly, one of the managers in this store does'nt show her respect. She asked me about the receipt and I told her I don't have it because these are gifts. She asked me to give her the following information about my family and friends: - the first and last names - the date of birth - the phone number - the fu address I don't know how can anyone give such information to a stranger. Onetime I returned an online shoes and they didn't give me the money and changed me twice and when I argued about my right, the same manager argued that this is their policy. it's so humiliating to be questioned like untrustworthy custemor. DSW is usually a hit or miss for me, and often, it's a miss. Sad, I know. Today, however, I went shopping with a friend for shoes for her bridal shower and some sandals for myself. We enjoyed looking at all the shoes and most times we found shoes we liked, they didn't have our sizes. :( So, we went into their clearance section, and wow! We both ended up finding what we wanted and in the size we needed! She also found a matching bag...oh yes, there bags in the clearance section! Since it's much further from where I live, I had to reduce this rating to 3 stars. . . if I could frequent this location often, then I would (and give it four stars). I GOT PROFILED AS A PERSON COLOR AND ACCUSED OF STEALING SHOES while shopping for shoes at DSW located at 7534 Westheimer Rd, Houston TX? I went in looking for a pair of Betsy Johnson Rhinestone sneakers. They had them in the store in 3 different styles. The pair I chose in my size was the display shoe. I tried them on and decided on the white pearlized style. I found the box with the other shoe and walked to the clearance section to look around. I thought to myself check the shoe already in the box to make sure they where the same size. After looking in the clearance section I decided to wait and not buy the shoes. I walk back to the area where I got the shoes, place the shoe back on the display and the box underneath the display. I walked out of the store and an employee follows me out of the store and says to me "Mam you need to take the shoe out of your purse and put it back. Our security camera recorded you. I was caught off guard and turned around and said "Excuse me" She said to me again, "Our camera's recorded you." In shock I then opened my purse and said "I don't have any shoes in my purse, what are you talking about? I then returned into the store and asked to speak with the store manager. The same person that accused me was one of the store managers. I asked to speak to someone else and another manager came up. I explained what I was accused of and of course she defended the other manager and the security camera footage which neither of them had reviewed, they where told this by someone. I asked to see the camera footage because they said it was proof that I was stealing. They wouldn't show it to me and they would not give their names, I asked for corporate phone number and they would only give me a customer service number. The check-out process is really poor, I had a very rude cashier, who was incompetent at her work. When my cashier finally called her manager, it was also uncomfortable to witness how condescending and dismissive the manager was to her employee in front of customers. In my experience, this store's management lacks customer service big time, yet they could not care less. All that is shoes is all that I love. I am a frugal shopper but every now and then I treat myself. DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse can be a little expensive for my taste. I can go to TJMaxx, Marshalls, Macy's, Beyond the Rack, Last Call (Neiman Marcaus), Nordstrom Rack (to name a few) and cop a pair of the same designer shoes here for a much better price. I'm actually torn between a 3 star rating and a 4 star rating. The quantity would definitely be a 4 while the price is more of a 3. There are selections for grandmother, the church lady, twerking club hopper and the tween in this wall to wall, aisle to aisle island of glorious shoe paradise. As the always wonderful Toni Collette said, "Clothes never look any good, and food just makes me fatter, but shoes always fit." I think every girl can sympathize with that sentiment! DSW is great because they have all types of shoes for all types of budgets. This one is especially great at getting those high end shoes that are still just a bit out of your price range, even though they're incredibly marked down. If you don't like self-service, this may not be the place for you. All the shoes are out on the floor and you have to, gasp, get your own shoes and, gasp, try them on yourself. I, personally, love this. There's no pressure to buy, no one to offend with stinky feet, and no one to judge you for having your toe nail polish chipping. They also carry purses and accessories, though they are seriously lacking in that department. And the best perk (for me anyway), is that they have a decent men's section so my hubby can go find himself a present while I enjoy my shopping (we've bought two pairs of Allen Edmonds from them!). And before you leave, don't forget to check out the clearance section in the back. You'll never believe some of the prices that you can find for great shoes. read more

I'm a guy and I like shoes. Shut up. DSW is a fantastic place to find great shoes and outstanding prices. The sales people are very helpful - not like most discount stores - and they have a TON of shoe options in a wide range of sizes. I wear a pretty average size 11 and I rarely find a shoe that I like that isn't in my size. Their shoe offerings are very diverse as well with everything from tennies to flip flops to dress shoes. I personally wouldn't recommend them for athletic shoes, but if you just want walking around sneakers, they fit the bill. You may also want to search elsewhere for boots, but who searches a regular shoe store for boots? My nicest pair of dress shoes - a really nice pair of leather Italian loafers - came from DSW at a DEEP discount. My favorite thing to find at DSW are casual shoes from brands like Sketchers and Steve Madden. I always seem to drop money in here when I go, so I can't go often. read more

The best thing about DSW is the variety of shoes for men, women and kids. Play shoes, dress shoes, formal shoes, sparkly shoes, boots, sandals, flip flops, high heels, low heels, no heels.... If you name it, they've got it. I have two issues with DSW: (1) the lack of assistance from the sales people, but it may not be entirely their fault. It never seems like enough people are working to assist the customers in the store, and (2) I rarely walk out with a purchase because my size, 10, is never there. If this is a popular size, then why not stock more? I'm just asking a legitimate question. Overall, this is a great place to shop for shoes. Parking is never an issue, they will send coupons via regular mail or email and they're always having sales. Oh and the clearance rack is where some of the best deals are found. With the $10 reward certificate they just mailed me, it's like a free pair of shoes. Come on! Also, their clearance events. Did someone say D&G for 90% off? Yes, they did. There's a lot of ugly here, I won't lie, but the environment is like a regular store, not like discount deathmatch, so you can sift at your own pace. There are always some really good deals to be had and even the stuff that isn't really marked down is cheaper than retail. More money to buy more shoes... Make sure to get their customer courtesy card and sign up for e-mails. Several times a year they have double and triple point days and those $10 certificates pile up quickly. Also, boys, rejoice, they have the largest men's selection that I have seen at a DSW (probably close to 4 long rows)! DSW provides the easiest and most simple way to shop for shoes because everything is well organized and you can help yourself to trying on shoes. None of this try-to-flag-down-a-salesperson-then-wait-10-minutes-for-him/her-to-bring-your-shoe-back business. The shoes are right in front of you, and they almost always have every size available. Sign up for their rewards card and don't forget to check out the clearance racks in the back. With so many shoes, it could easily become overwhelming, but fortunately everything is always neat and clean which makes for a pleasant experience. read more

I have never walked out of a shoe store happy. I'm usually questioning whether I really needed that shoe, if I didn't just buy the same black kitten heel or sporty mary jane I always get. But today was a first. I got shoes I needed (for weddings, yuck) that I actually liked and at crazy prices. I mean I started in the back at the sale rack until I realized practically all the shoes were well below regular prices. I spent hours perusing the aisles (always have to go with a goal in mind or you get trapped) just to make sure I didn't miss something amazing. A few moments of sadness when they didn't have my size out (I guess I could have asked someone) but I was quickly distracted by a new pair. Aside from having a nice array of shoes (some not so nice tho) and always having my size (a common size 7) I just need to state for the record that the sales people here are so nice and helpful. I was greeted by a few different friendly people who asked if I needed assistance, but not once did they try to "sell" anything to me, nor were they overly pushy. One very nice guy saw that I was lugging my boot box around so he very kindly offered me a handy bag to carry them in while I continued to shop. I find in discount places like this sales people tend to not really give a crap about customers and can come across as bothered by your presence, but not at DSW. I popped in to see the selection of winter boots were still out (Early Feb.) & sad to say there really wasn't much, I guess I was too late. I went to pick up the shoes and still had to wait in line with everyone shopping/paying in the store for over 15 minutes. I placed the order online to avoid the slow lines here..... Wow! This place is huge compared to the other stores and clearance (my go to) was three aisles long for my shoe size. Found some very cute shoes although many of them were not super comfortable. Finally found a cute pair I could wear and for a reasonable price. Staff did come around and ask how I was doing. One comment Dsw, please carry more wide shoes! To me, this store seemed to be larger than most others! HUGE women's section, I was there almost 2 hours browsing......mainly because I am extremely indecisive and have a really narrow foot to fit ;) I found the employees to be friendly and helpful. I do agree that DSW's prices can be on the higher side compared to the actual brand of choice being on sale elsewhere, yet I still I find myself driving here due to the variety of choices offered. I'm not a shoe addict (one of the few, I know); however, I do appreciate beautiful, well made shoes. I don't want to waste my time with junk, so I typically shop at stores that cater to higher end shoes. I have shopped at most of the DSWs in town, and I have to say they are NOT all created equal. In my opinion this one is the best by far. I'm pretty sure it's the biggest too. Both this one, and the one on Post Oak have a section for higher end designer shoes, but this location had a better selection. It also has a large markdown section.
