Went to DSW on a whim looking for shoes for 2 upcoming events. There was plenty of parking and the line to check out wasn't too long. There is a huge selection of men's women's and kids shoes and they even have a robust clearance section. I didn't interact with any employees but there didn't seem to be a lot of them around even if I did need one. The displays were clean and easy to shop. I unfortunately didn't find anything that day but will consider them again for future needs. read more

I purchased a gift card. The computer was down so I never recieved it but was charged. These things happen but the next day when I talked to the manager she said she couldnt help me and gave me customer service number. Called them and they said had to go to store. Called back store and asked for district managers number. She wouldnt give it to me. Had to put a claim through my bank to get money back. Very fustrating. read more

Love this store! I wanted to post my positive experience. I was in a BIG hurry to find black sneakers, since I had no luck finding dress shoes, for my 11 year old. I called and spoke to Lisa. One of the employees there. I want to let people know that she was the most "HELPFUL" and sweet, helpful salesperson. I am so grateful for her help. I needed these shoes ASAP! I will NEVER shop at this particular DSW again. They do not stand behind their shoes! I bought a pair of sandals in May and in less than a month with only a few wears, the shoes began to show a lot of wear and tear on the sole and even the metallic finish was wearing off (see photos). I went to the store one evening and asked about my options. The first cashier referred me straight away to who I assume was the evening manager on duty at the time. This manager was very unkind and told me there is nothing they could do. I explained how I have never had DSW shoes fall apart like this before and it's only been a month and they were worn a few times. This shift manager made it sound like it was DSW's policy. Not to mention her tone and body language were not empathetic but very, very rude and unkind. I called the DSW customer service number and explained how I was treated (sparing the details here) and, although they do not have control over what stores do, they offered to send me a new pair for what I experienced with this evening manager. I also learned from the conversation that EACH STORE has the right to decide the return/exchange/refund policy. In other words, this evening shifts manager had the opportunity to make the situation right, but blamed it on corporate DSW's policy - not true. Well, corporate DSW said they would contact the store manager about this experience. It's been months and I never heard from him/her. Oh, and corporate DSW sent the wrong size to replace the shoes the Lake Grove DSW refused to replace, so I called customer service again and spoke with a manager who refunded my money and said he would personally contact the store manager at Lake Grove. Again, I have not heard from this store manager. BUYER BEWARE - This DSW in Lake Grove does not stand behind their product! If you find a pair of shoes you love and only DSW has it, I highly suggest you buy them online instead of this store. The online retailer seems to stand behind their product and the customer service on the phone was kind compared to the rude treatment from the shift manager that evening. This location does not stand behind their product! (Personally, I prefer a particular shoe retailer that only sells online and offers free shipping and returns. I've called customer service for returns and exchanges and have had a wonderful experience every time! Your time is valuable so I would not spend it at this store.) read more

I found a pair of shoes on clearance that were not my size then found the pair that were my size but were not on clearance! This is my favorite DSW in the area. First, it's conveniently located for me, which is always important. But the service I've gotten here has always been excellent. I wanted to exchange a pair of shoes for another size. They didn't have my particular size but they called another local DSW and had them hold them for me for several days. Also, as I'm new here, the salesperson was able to recommend the next closest store to me so I didn't end up driving more than necessary. I also was able to return a pair of athletic shoes that I wore once. I told the sales person that I wore them once but they hurt my feet (they gave me the worse pain on one foot, no matter what I did) and she was super nice and took them back, even though they had signs of being lightly worn. I greatly appreciated that, especially since I was bummed at first because I thought I was going to have to keep a pair of shoes that I couldn't wear. After calling four other stores searching for a specific pair of shoes, a very helpful employee put two aside for me, despite the "Labor Day" back to school rush. Saved me lots of trips across the island and made for a happy eighth grader. Thank you!!! read more

The staff wasn't the issue, in all reality the staff was the best experience of this trip to DSW. The Store Manager was extremely rude and unpleasant to both customers and his team; that was poise and respectful to authority this Manager needs to be reviewed and evaluated on a corporate level. These workers need better leadership to have a even more successful work environment. read more
