The gentleman watched me walk and identified that I walk on the inside of my feet. Then he measured both of my feet, went to the back and came back with 3 pairs of sneakers. I was able to try on all 3 and identified which once felt the best. Based on the way they felt, they brought me out 3 more and then another 2 and we finally found the ones! They are so comfortable and they aren't bad looking either! This store isn't for someone looking for clearance items but as they say, you get what you pay for. Just a teeny bit shy of the 5' mark, finding jeans is always a huge pain in the butt - but finding shoes and boots in my size is the bane of my existence. For the last several years, I have been on the hunt for a pair of knee high boots that come in my midget foot size (5-5.5, or a kid's 3-4) and actually come up to my knee, not four inches or more past. You see, the world wasn't made for us vertically challenged folk. When I have managed to find my small size in a boot, they have come way past my knee and I look like a little kid playing dress-up, or worse yet - like puss-in-boots, and I am about to go fence some scoundrel. Apparently small-footed individuals are also of Amazonian height. Lo and behold, Steve Madden. I saw a pair of shoes on their website, and called the store to see if they had them in my size in stock. As luck would have it, there was one lone pair, and it was soon to be mine. The man on the phone, Matt, was super nice and pleasant, and answered all of my questions, and was able to hold them for me until I could come to the store later that night. I dragged my friend out in the rain (I'm a girl, I need the friend fashion approval and the boy was all, um please take your friend because, yeah, I'm a boy, they're boots, I'm sure they're nice, yada yada yada). Matt was super nice and super friendly in person as was the other guy working there that night (Rohan). They brought out my boots and they were FABULOUS. They are delicious and beautiful and all mine - and the first knee-high boots I have ever worn/owned in my life. When you'e used to buying kid shoes that hit mid-calf, this is a great achievement and a boot victory. Sadly, they are for X-mas and since I was helping Santa play elf this year I will just have to wait - but it's worth it. They offered advice on how to care for it and all that good stuff, and the store was matching the web sale (20-25% off) which was just an added bonus. Since my friend was drooling over another pair of boots, I get her a pair as well that she loves - but she too will have to wait until Old King Cole comes on down that chimney. A+ for customer service on the phone and in store, and A+ for making good quality boots that are spunky and fun, and come in sizes to fit all needs.

She showed us another style in gray but they did not have the size or a wider width. Upon checking she directed us to the Deer Park store. This store had the shoes along with a size for the bone colored sneakers that I had chosen as well. The later notes made in Vietnam and they are soft comfortable shoes. The young lady at Outlet mall there also was good and helpful. They had saved the two requested boxes up behind the register. We tried them, they fit and we bought them. (see pix) The back to school sale is buy one get one 50 % off. If you have rewards then you must have your phone to input them into the system for use. I did not. Thus I wasn't able to use the extra $5.00. But Rich the manager at our local store notes, if I bring the receipt and shoes/boxes, he can re-ring it and apply my reward credit. The shoe box for my sneakers has a 501c Bob[s special donation cause. (see pix) They give twenty five cents per pair to help animals in shelters. Both in USA and Canada. This project started in 2019 and runs through December of 2023. So cumulatively even at a quarter for a specially marked box should have added yearly to some hopefully decent annual amounts. Seems this started with getting shoes for children in need. Commendable. (with Payless gone) Sketchers is a place to visit for shoes.

Fast forward to May 2019, I came into New Balance was greeted by Justin - who became the only person I will come and see for shoes moving forward. Justin is fantastic. He fitted my feet properly to a pair of shoes, and they were $40 less than what I paid last year at the privately owned shoe store in Port Jefferson. I've also came in for sandals, and I'm sure I was one headache of a customer, but Justin was patient and located sandals for me that fit and a pair that were bad were exchanged after a week of purchase. No arguing, no questions asked, just took them right back. That to me speaks volumes and I will forever be a New Balance fan!
