I've been going to this DSW for years, and while I'm not necessarily a shoe savant, I have to say I always find something here. My shoe size changes shoe to shoe and day to day it seems, so being able to try shoes on in-person is a necessity. The sheer number of shoes in the store is great! There are hundreds of options from huge brands and lesser-known designers. I would always recommend looking in the clearance section, too. The clearance section has a ton of great options for a discounted price (they even have some big brands back there sometimes). On my most recent trip I saw Crocs, TEVA sandals, Steve Madden, Betsy Johnson, and Birkenstocks in the clearance section! Whether you're looking for a casual shoe or a more formal option, DSW has you covered. I walked away with new tennis shoes and a pair of heels. If you're going on vacation soon, I noticed a ton of fun sandal and heel options! You can really shoe shop till you drop at DSW! The reason DSW loses a star, for me, is because of the checkout process. There always seems to be only one cashier when I'm there and it makes the line move pretty slowly. I wasn't in a rush so it was no big deal, but it has been frustrating in the past (especially when there's another associate nearby doing ... something else I guess). Stands for Don't Stop Wondering, because I can't stop wondering how good they'd be if only they had a better selection of Asics, my fave brand. DSW has been our favourite shoe store for a long time. They have good deals on a lot of different shoes and this one in particular is huge and excellent in many regards. We come here whenever we can to look for the odd discount pair or something that we may not have seen in other stores. They are similar to the one in Pearland they will always be a regular destination for us and the staff here is nice as well. I've been to some DSW locations that were very dissatisfactory, but this one is one of the best. read more

Store is very dirty and not even a place worth shopping anymore. The floor was so disgusting that I didn't even want to put my foot down while trying on a shoe. Saturday night crew are not cleaning when they close and clearly Sunday morning crew also does not clean. This was in the morning on a Sunday. I arrived at DSW to purchase a pair of Cole Haan shoes. The display model was my size and fit perfectly. Unfortunately, the matching show was no where to be found. I searched for a store associate but didn't find anyone. I went to the front register and explained that i needed help. She promised she'd be right over to help when her co worker came back from the restroom. After waiting another 15 minutes the lady who promised to help was off doing other duties. No one came to help. I went online and ordered the shoes from Cole Haan and actually saved a few bucks. DSW would be a good place to open a great shoe store. The whole family love DSW because we can shop for athletic, casual, dressy, and hiking shoes under one roof. Prices are reasonable and selections are endless. I scored a pair of tie dye lined Crocs for my youngest daughter. She been hunting this particular style for months, so the Mrs & I got it for her as a Christmas present. The store itself was clean. This is surprisingly my first time shopping at DSW. I have to say I like it. You can get anything from sandals, dressy shoes, athletic shoes, winter boots, purses, wallets, handbags, and much more. I liked the clearance shelves in the back, since they give you an additional discount to your shoe's price. Yay! I also appreciated the fact that the clearance item shoes were even categorized by shoe size. I know most clearance racks I go to are just a jumble of different sizes that I have to dig to find my size. Good job DSW. Some sandals here are pretty snazzy. So, I think if you're looking for something that would go well with your little black dress or your professional work clothes, DSW would be a great spot. I hate DSW...but my wife had a coupon so I decided to go grab a pair of discount loafers for work. I ended up finding a pair in the clearance section...size 9 Steve Madden's. Not great shoes, but not bad for the price either. Besides, I walk all over the place at work, children step on my shoes, so there is no reason to buy super nice, expensive shoes. When I go to check out, the cashier noticed that the shoes were mismatched, size wise. Good eye, lady! So they go to look for the correct size, and cannot find it anywhere. My guess...someone else is walking around with mismatched shoes. So my dislike for DSW continues...my wife loves the place though. Truth is, they carry much more women's stuff than men's! read more

I've been here before years ago, but this was my first time back with a mission to find some neutral or brown colored shoes for work. This store really is like a candy store for shoe lovers. It's mainly focused on women's shoes, but if you're a dude who loves to have fashion forward feet, there's a whole side wall dedicated to you. I stopped to try some brown flats, and there was someone right there to help me find a size that they didn't have in the show room. They didn't have it, but he was very helpful. Make sure to check out the back wall for their clearance items. They are sorted by size, and then each pair has a color to let you know how much you'll actually pay for the shoes. It's great. I went in needing some taupe shoes to wear at my friends wedding since she requested that bridesmaids wear them. She didn't care about the style, so neither did I. I walked in with the intention getting the help of an associate to locate some. They were all busy and there seemed to be no one on the floor willing to help! I walked around and didn't find anything I liked. I then spotted an associate and got his attention. I asked him if he could help me locate some taupe heels. His response was 'what is taupe'. Iexplained that it's a color and showed him an example of the color. He did end up bringing me 3 pairs of pumps, one of which I bought. He was extremely nice and I wish I could remember his name. Usually I can always find what I need in DSW, but not this time, when I have a clear picture of what I want exactly. The store looks nice and clean, and it feels good to take your time and try them on. I was looking for nude sandals, but I didn't find any I like... I ended up with a pair of grey heeled sandals, which I thought would work. But after I got home and tried them on with the dress, I changed my mind... The next day I took them back and returned those, the staff was super nice and the service was great. Once in a while they would send out coupons, usually that's what drives me to the store... I recently stopped by here with my mom because she awesomely agreed to buy me a pair of kicks. I've been to other DSWs, but I've never purchased anything because I'm kind of not a shoe fashionista at all. I'm all about Ross, Marshall's, etc. Hah! Plus, oh yeah, I'm vegan and I don't wear leather so a "finer" (compared to my discount stores) shoe store like DSW isn't exactly going to have a bunch of cheapy non-leather shoes. We spent about an hour here, meticulously combing through the selections to see if there was anything I liked that met my specifications - cute casual shoes, but vegan friendly. It was pretty tedious and I was horrified at the actual retail prices of the shoes (haha!). I was approached a couple of times by the salespeople which was cool, but I prefer to do my own browsing and I eventually settled on some Pumas. My mom, being the smart shopper that she is, of course had a $20 off coupon so it ended up being quite a steal. However, this place definitely overwhelmed me! The selection is awesome if you're a shoe lover, but I'm like NOT. So it was just kind of sensory overload! And I'm just not okay with paying full retail for my shoes. I'm totally okay with last season's discounted fashions. I keep mentioning that because I realize this review is very biased. I love a shoe store and DSW is no exception. This place has a great selection of quality brands as well as classic and trendy styles to deck out my tootsies. Whenever I need a specific type of shoe to go with a new outfit or even new shoes in general this is one of the places I come looking. I usually find what I am looking for plus more. The shoes are in a layout of similar styles and by rows. Men's shoes are on the far right as you enter and vary from sandals to casual to dressy. You won't find a huge selection here for guys but for a casual everyday shoe for men this place is fine. Women's shoes are plentiful and range from your casual flip flops to dainty high heels. This store carries a big selection of sandals for summertime. From cute, trendy flats to strappy, sexy high heels. There's cool wedges here, too. Looking for colorful shoes? This store usually has them in stock in various styles. Fall and winter fashions are good, too. Prices range from $39.99 up. Often there are sales The clearance section in the back of the store has low markdowns. However, better styles and size variety is few in the clearance. Sizing for most shoes is standard with no uncommon very small or very big sizes. DSW also has a small section of purses, wallets, totes and a small clump of scarves. The handbag selection is unimpressive with most styles being gauche and/or cheap looking. Even the Jimmy Choo purses seemed a lower quality. Scarves are meh and the wallets are few and uninteresting, also. For the prices on handbags here I expected better but I don't come here for handbags so it's no big deal. One item sold here came in very handy for me. While out and about on a rainy day, I naturally left my umbrella in the car. Bless DSW! They sell decent, classic and quality umbrellas here. Since my umbrella was getting up there in years, I didn't mind buying a new one. A nice, sturdy, black umbrella that opens/closes easily and it got the job done. I hate shopping and I especially hate shoe shopping with my big old size 11.5 feet. If you are a guy and reading this, you don't understand that size 11.5 is just out of the range of normal for women and it's hard to find shoes. I went in here this week because I needed a very specific shoe. I essentially needed a work boot, but I didn't want to shell out the cash for a work boot. I was going to tour the new Dynamo stadium and since it is an active construction site, I needed a specific shoe. I walked in with a friend and felt overwhelmed. After wandering around, I asked an employee for help. Wow! He was super friendly and made it his mission to find me the right shoes. We agreed that only men's shoes were going to work on my big feet and he knew that area well. He helped me find discounted clearance shoes that fit perfectly my needs. He was so helpful, patient, and ran around trying different shoes for me. For a place that doesn't make commission, they sure do have some helpful staff. I don't plan on shopping here regularly because, well, I hate shoe shopping, but I would definitely recommend this store to anyone else. Least friendly store in Houston area in all DSWs... I go to DSW quite often and have seen many of them in different states. Somehow, this store staff is not friendly in general, almost like they are upset you're in the store shopping! Cashiers are not quick and always out of "hello" or "please"... If you are looking for more fashion forward shoes you should go to the Galleria location as they have more heel selection. I don't think I've ever had anyone ask if I need help, but that's ok because I usually have good luck on my own. I came here recently to return a pair I bought online and find another boot to replace them. Came away with a pair I really liked. Anyone can spend a fortune on shoes, but I love a good designer bargain! When I first discovered DSW years back, I fell in lust. I've shopped this chain in several cities as well as most of the H town locals. San Francisco rocks, by the way, with 2 stories of shoe nirvana! The chain offers most popular ladies brands and some mens shoes, all types, at a nice discount. The sale section can be awesome! However, the Sugar Land local is just okay compared to the Westheimer or Katy Freeway stores. This local is short on sizes and selection compared to most other branches. There is a lack of couture lines others carry, but you can order on line. The decor here is very sterile. I am also confused as to why a pair of shoes is on sale at one DSW, and full price at another. This happened to me when I needed a different size SL didn't have. The sales associate nicely offered to call another local, and found them at Westheimer. When I got there, the shoe was not on sale. However, if this happens, the sales associate will call the DSW where it was on sale and honor that price. Still it is such a hassle to wait around for phone calls. I also hate the way they do their coupons should you have a return. Say you buy three pairs of shoes, and use a coupon. Should you return one pair, they will not refund the full price of the shoe because they will deduct 1/3 of the coupon from the return price. In other words, they say you got 1/3 of the coupon applied to the shoe. In essence, on the other 2 pairs you keep, you only get 2/3 of the coupon off?!!!! If you had only purchased one pair, you would get an entire coupon on just one pair! It makes no damn sense at all! If you return all the shoes, you lose the coupon all together, so you can't do a return and repurchase to get the full coupon off on the shoes you do keep. ARGGGGH!!! If you think you might return a pair, buy it separate from others you KNOW you are going to keep if using a coupon. That being said, their frequent shopper card is very generous in their coupons and perks, so it is worth having. As for the sales help, there are plenty of associates straightening shoes, but rarely do they offer any help. I have noticed that instead of opening enough registers when crowded, they tend to congregate and shoot the breeze. I don't think I've ever seen more than 2 of the registers open at once at this local, which isn't true of the others. Try here mid week for best results. read more

I needed one more day there because after returning to the hotel I realized there were two more pair of shoes that I wanted and now I'm afraid that one particular one will not be available anyplace else as I have not found it on line. So I bought two pair and should have bought four. What great prices! What great shoes! And I love the back portion of the store where the clearance shoes were.
