I do not have words for how terrible this nail salon is. Not only did my manicure begin to completely chip off less than 24 hours later, but I now I can't get the remainder of the polish off with remover! I am absolutely LIVID. I found this place and it had decent enough reviews and was closeby and now I am completely regretting that decision. I needed a quick basic mani pedi and now I am sitting here unable to remove whatever terrible polish they use! The worst part is that I needed it to last for my 10 year wedding anniversary. I went back that next day and they told me to eat sand it it was "normal" for it to be chipping that quickly. I've been getting regular mani's my entire life and NEVER have they chipped this quickly! They refused to refund me and just wanted to repaint them, and I am so glad I didn't because of the chemical ridden polish they use does not even come off! So now I have polish residue sitting on my nails that looks like absolute garbage. How on earth they think this is acceptable is beyond me. I'd also like to add how rude the woman was doing my nails, she asked if I wanted square and then didn't even round the pointy edges. She was too focused on chatting and laughing it up with the other two employees than paying attention to her job. Terrible- $60 for garbage and they don't care in the slightest and refuse to take accountability. Uncaring, money driven business. And this is how you lose repeat customers. read more

For the convenience of the location, I went here on a Saturday morning (WITH AN APPOINTMENT) and still waited 30 minutes to be assisted. Beware when making an appointment because you still might end up waiting. When I called to make an appointment on the phone, the guy who answered was so rude and after repeating the time I wanted to schedule, he repeated the wrong time back. After he repeated the incorrect time back, I repeated the correct time twice. The salon is new and clean, but all their services are overpriced. They charge $25 more for french tip and $20 for chrome/cateye. The designs are extra depending on your liking. Luckily, I ended up liking how my nails came out because Mimi kept asking if everything was ok throughout the entire time. I did ask her to adjust a few things, and she did it with no problem. On the other hand, I believe his name was Kevin, was so aggressive when doing my pedi. One of my toes have a thicker white line than the other, and I mentioned that, but he did not seem to fix it. In addition to that, I could hear his long sigh the entire time he was doing my nails. On top of paying for your services, parking in DTLA is difficult and it took over 2 hours for a mani/pedi. Mind you, parking is $4/hour for metered parking, if you're even lucky enough to find one. Prior to making an appointment, I wanted to see all the reviews. Almost all the reviews said positive things so I thought I would give them a shot. First visit at DTLA Nails since it opened and I was so pleased with my pedicure. I was able to call and walk-in without any issues. The salon is cute, bright, and clean, and it also smelled good. I got the Silver Pedicure ($48) and it was a great experience. My nail tech Rose is so sweet and motherly. She's extremely meticulous and thorough from start to finish. It was worth every penny! I have been here twice and have not been satisfied either time. I just recently moved to the area and wanted to find a nail spot near my new apartment. Both times I made an appointment ahead on their website and booked for a builder gel manicure. The first time I went was on a lunch break and I ended up having to wait for awhile despite my appointment. The nail tech was not very gentle with my nails and ripped one of the plastic fix nails off instead of soaking it off, causing my nail to tear into the pink attached area. The manicure turned out okay but only lasted 2 weeks before nails started breaking and peeling (normally I can go 4-5 weeks). I decided to give them one more shot and made an appointment for a full new builder gel set instead of a fill to give them the benefit of the doubt with the longevity of the manicure. This time I went on a Saturday soon after they opened to make sure I didn't have to wait long. I ended up waiting 40 minutes despite having an appointment. It was obvious the nail tech felt rushed because she did not do a good job. She made my cuticle bleed, which has happened in the past so it's not a big deal, but she said it's my fault for having dry cuticles lol. Very uncalled for when I didn't even say anything when it happened. She also told me I only needed a fill not a new set, and I said okay because it seemed she was busy and probably wanted to save time. The manicure seemed different and I found out after that she didn't clean acrylic on me instead of gel! She also ground my nails above the polish down so much they're a little tender and red even a few weeks after the manicure. The polish turned out a little lumpy and uneven and she left chunks of acrylic under my nails beds which have been irritating my nails since. Overall I have had an awful experience at this salon. I have been to a number of nail salons and private nail techs over the years and this was by far the worst experience I've had. I wouldn't trust them to do my nails again and caution anyone else who is thinking about trying them out. read more

Went for the first time today. Called late afternoon on Saturday and was able to walk in with minimal waiting. Got the Diamond pedicure and it was amazing. It has been months since I've had a pedicure and I was truly in need of the whole shebang. I also got extensions on my big toenails since they were only about 3/4 grown back from losing them over the summer . My feet have looked so busted since the summer, but by some miracle Kevin got my toes lookin fresh and cute once again. I like to change my nails at least three times/month so I use high quality press ons, but get super plain manicures to keep my cuticles down and cleaned up. I also hadn't done this in months either. Annie gave me the best manicure and cut and filed my nails super short and also performed a miracle on my cuticles. I will definitely be going back! Side notes: 1.) Decor/Aesthetic is really nice. 2.) Super clean. 3.) Everything is brand new. 4.) Staff are all really nice. I was ignored by the entire staff after I finished waiting for my paint to dry until I flagged down a worker to take out the paper between my now very cold toes. I was even ignored when I went up to pay and I very well could've walked out if my nail tech who had already moved on to doing someone else's nails hadn't lifted her head and noticed me hovering at the front desk. I can't tell you enough good things about DTLA NAILS. It is not a typical nail shop that can feel like a factory and you are simply a dollar sign. I followed two expert nail techs here from another salon and they can't make me happy enough doing both my manicure and pedicure . There is no rushing and they want me to be happy. They will tell me exactly how long a style and type of polish should last and basically guarantee it. They are such experts and they have years of experience. I never just listened to other nail techs as they are usually only advising you of what works for them and their piggy bank but Annie is truly an artist and professional in all ways. Show her what you want and she'll tell you what's possible, how long it should last and how it will look with your skin tone and anything els to help. She is a detailed artist and up on the latest styles. Most of the customers are younger and want demanding styles. If it's going to be too expensive or not practical she'll tell you. I have never trusted a nail tech like Annie and her sidekick Kevin who does my pedicure. He is highly skilled as well and a pleasure to work with. A different Kevin is the manager who is a charming gentleman. The salon is brand new and very clean as well. I believe their prices are competitive but double check. A woman named Annie ultimately saved my experience, but I still felt it was important to share what happened today in case anyone has a similar issue. I have very delicate toenails after years of gel pedicures, and when I arrived I let the technician assigned to me -- I believe his name was Kevin -- know that my nails were thin and still healing. He clipped them quickly, not very gently, but I didn't say anything. Then he took out a very large, coarse nail file -- the type typically used for filing gels or acrylics -- and began filing my natural nails. It was extremely painful, but I tried to stay still and not make a scene. He told me I was "moving too much" and seemed irritated. I apologized and reminded him that my nails were delicate. I must have moved again out of discomfort, because he abruptly stood up, announced loudly that he "wasn't going to do this anymore," and walked to the back of the salon. The entire salon turned to look, and it was honestly embarrassing and confusing. Thankfully, a kind woman named Annie came over shortly after and offered to take over. She used a normal file, checked in with me multiple times, and made sure everything felt okay -- and it did. There was no pain at all. She was wonderful and completely turned my experience around. I'm sharing this because it was uncomfortable and unnecessarily upsetting. I was made to feel like I was the problem for reacting to pain, which didn't feel fair. I do not recommend booking with Kevin, and I would strongly suggest calling ahead to make sure you aren't assigned to him. read more

Walking in, the vibe is really nice. It's bright, clean, and nicely organized. The concierge was kind. I asked her if they accepted walk ins she said yes it would be a 15 min wait. I waited about 35-40 mins before my service began. They sat me next to a loud speaker, but I enjoyed the music selection so that was fine. I got a silver tier pedicure with gel polish. My service was standard, only one of my legs was massaged and she only put lotion on one of my legs. They then did a manicure service. This was also okay, standard nail shop manicure.
