Salesman suggested the installation of an irrigation system around the house. The job was very unprofessional and did not work period. After several visits and different employees with different answers I was told that everything is fine and it will take about six months for the soil to be saturated with water. They did not even know how to program or wire properly the controller provided and left without even testing the irrigation. After a charge of almost $5000.00 for $300.00 of parts and 3 hours labor they refused to add a second valve to increase the flow on a section of house. At this point i need to complete the installation myself . My suggestion is they need to stick to dirt work and not something that requires higher IQ upstairs. read more

I hired Du-West some time ago to put in two root barriers for about $2,800. When I hired them they gave me a card to be sure to give them a review on social media and listed different medias. I was not hat home when they came out for installation since they would never need to be in the house (as they confirmed). When I arrived home from a full day of work, I opened the front door and could smell natural gas (it had filled the whole house). I called the gas company and Du-West - they both showed up to the house. What I found out from Du-West was that while the crew was working, they wanted to turn off the gas line and the project manage said no...so, then the project manager went off to buy lunch for the crew and it was at this time the crew turned the gas off - which then blew out the pilot light to the hot water heater in the attic. When the crew turned the gas back on, natural gas began filling my home. I was told by the gas technician that only a certified plumber or a gas company technician is allowed to turn off the gas. When it came time to light the pilot, no one wanted to do it. I told them whoever turned it off has to turn it back on!!!!! So all of the windows were opened and we waited and they the two reluctantly went into the attic to light the pilot. At first, when I told this story to the Du-West manager about this I could hear the gasp in his voice, then he proceeded to act like it was no big deal - which their opinion is it's no big deal because I'm still alive! He offered me $250 for my "inconvenience" - I told him he should pay for half...he said he would need to speak to someone about it and would get back to me...of course he never did and I was too busy at work to keep fighting this, which is exactly what they wanted. In my opinion, this is such a high level of incompetence and negligence it is unbelievable!! What happened is awful...it endangered my pet, the safety of my neighbors and myself. But what it boils down to is unless someone is hurt or dead it just does matter. Absolutely shameful! read more

This review has to do with the installation of a Navien tankless hot water heater that took place in 2020. Aside from some tubing that wasn't secured as well as it could have been, the installation seemed to have been well-done, except for one thing...the drain pan. Despite it having been completely rusted out, according to the plumber, "the drain pan was not replaced because it is not code to add a drain pan for the tankless hot water heater." I found this to be a negligent oversight on their part! To this day, I scratch my head as I try to figure out how and/or why a Master Plumber, who by definition "has reached the highest professional level of plumbing," would overlook this detail. It wasn't until three years later that I found myself in the attic, doing some spring cleaning, that I noticed how corroded the pan was. It was so much so, that there were holes in it. If the heater had leaked for any reason, I could be looking at ceiling repair, among other expenses. Fortunately, when it was all said and done, I was out $250 for a new drain pan (installed by a different plumber). In any case, the main reason for posting this review is to remind the consumer to do their due diligence when hiring a service provider of any kind. My hope is that you will take the time to research, follow up and ask as many "dumb" questions as it takes in order to get the job done right. I give Du-West "two stars." One star is for the decent install and another for Danielle. She is a Dispatcher for Du-West who took the time to hear me out and reached out to the actual plumber who did the work to ask if I could be reimbursed. Will I use Du-West again? I don't think so. What I've learned is that the larger a business gets the less-detailed the quality of their work. read more

Times had been difficult lately and unfortunately we went to someone before Du-West based off of price rather than quality. They messed up a lot my house was cracking in the middle and I was at a loss of what to do. I waited so long to call Du-West purely because of the reviews but I should've just called sooner. First time they came, 11 years ago, they did a great job on my foundation! So, when I noticed problems on a different part of the house, I called them expecting another good job. Second time they came, they took two days to do half as much work as the first time, charged me for a water test they never did, & charged me for a permit, they never got. They also messed up my front porch that they couldn't fix, and I can't find anyone to fix for less than $5,000. The porch concrete pad has to be completely removed & replaced. And since it's not a big area, no one wants to do it! Don't use them. read more

Du West came out to put piling under garage slab. Did the job, raised back corner approx 3 inches. But, they made a MESS of my driveway and yard. They put sheets of plywood down to pile dirt on, but did not do that on the concrete. The mud actually stained the concrete. I had a Du West supervisor come out to check it out. I asked them to pressure wash the drive. It would cost $150 at most. I know because I had the drive pressure washed 30 days before they did the work on my garage. The supervisor admitted the drive was stained, but said it was due to leaves on the driveway. Ridiculous. He finally agreed to have the drive pressure washed. That was 3months ago. I've called their office twice to see when they would come out to pressure wash. No one even returns my call. Tired of waiting on them, I had the drive pressure washed myself and spent another $150. I can't believe for the small sum of $150, they blew me off like that. DO NOT USE DU WEST unless you want your yard and drive to look like hell when they are done. Call Du-West unless you like wasting money! Yesterday had another company out (Finch AC in La Porte) checking my furnace and a related gas smell. They told me I had to replace my entire furnace unit due to its age (although they didn't even check the age because when I asked how old it was the tech said he forgot to look lol) They made no attempt to fix the problem. Just insisted on replacement and charged me $89. Then told me I couldn't use the unit. Bad timing with last night's almost freezing weather! Today I had Du- West out. Joe found problem and fixed it. He also connected three loose ducts. Not once was replacement even suggested. He said it was an older unit but in pretty decent shape. Night and day the service and professionalism of Du-West. I discovered that my lawn sprinkler had low water pressure. I contacted a well know plumbing company and they said it would be over $5000 to solve the problem. I called Du West because I listen to their weekly radio show. Du West Plumbing said they solve the problem at 1/3 the price. They came and did the job in one day and offered financing at no interest. I was interested in installing two Navien 240A2 tankless water heaters to replace my old heating units. Their "Master Plumber" arrived at my house and after inspecting my attic said the job would cost about $6000 and that he would send me a detailed proposal costing out the job. This did not seem unreasonable in that the units were priced at $2000 each and $1000/unit install cost was expensive but not silly. A week later the formal estimate arrived and was $9300 more than 50% higher than the onsite quote. I contacted them to ask about this discrepancy and did not receive any response as to why the cost had grown so much. Clearly $9300 is absurd and I will find someone else to do the install. read more

Don't use Du-West if you want someone who honor's their warranty. Their "Lifetime Warranty" requires all kinds of things to happen perfectly when the home is sold. If not done to their satisfaction, Du-West will void their warranty. They have clearly created a process specifically designed to allow them to void warranties and get that liability off their books. When I asked their customer service representative about this, they got mean and nasty on the phone. There are tons of reputable foundation companies in Houston. If I could give zero stars I would. Called for foundation work and paid over $9000 for repair. Several months later the house was in worse shape than before the work. Gaps between the walls and floors that you could stick your arm through. Called again for 'warranty'. Warranty only covers the work they did, which was around the perimeter of the house. After the perimeter was secured, the interior basically collapsed and would cost another $9000+. Ridiculous! The initial consultant basically told us, after all was done, that he would not have had the initial work done if it was him. Dishonest company. If you could give no stars I would. Constantly call you when they are trying to get your business but can't get a call back after they leave. They are very arrogant after they get paid and don't show up for appointments if you call for warranty work, then say you have to reschedule and they are booked a month out. They come up with ridiculous excuses when you question them about work that you paid for but find no evidence that it was completed or find evidence it wasn't completed. Don't allow them on your property!! I don't know if there are any honest foundation repair companies but I know there are less expensive and less arrogant ones. read more

They are the bottom of the barrel for foundation repair. Every room in my 2 story home was damaged (chimney was broken away from the house due to over jacking up, cracked walls where there were none, doors misaligned bad, they cracked windows, concrete patches were left rough and high) They attempted sheet rock "repair" which turned out poor overall, some of it cracked after drying. Original issue was 2 small cracks upstairs and a closet door hanging up! And yes they should receive a negative 5 stars. NEVER sign a contract where you give up your right to sue for trash work, you will regret it. read more

We were told that the front part of the house was all that was needed to be addressed and that would resolve our issues 2010. It did not. We've called and gotten another representative out since, who now tells us another $9,000 needs to be done on the rear as well as the center of the foundation. When we asked about what we were told before the initial $9500 work was done and what their inspector told us, we were told "he no longer works for us". Not the kind of answer you tell a customer that is looking for corrective measures to a problem that was supposedly resolved. I was wanting them to adjust their lift. Didn't happen. So, at this point, 2015, the unstable foundation still remains. I need the foundation on my house repaired. I had an appointment with Du-West foundation yesterday. They did not show. Call the office and they scheduled an appointment for today. The guy left right away because I would not put all the dogs outside. I tried to tell him the dogs were contained. He just walked away and left! Very frustrated with Du-West! After speaking with the manager at Du-West, he gave me lots of excuses, the admitted Du-West does not do houses with dogs. First thing, the guy that showed up could not find the clean out pipe on the outside of the house. He did not speak any English so when he found an issue he told me "es broken" and when I asked what was wrong, he replied "call office"... By the time I was able to get the office on the phone, the guy had driven off. I found the clean out with two scoops of a shovel in the front of the house exactly where I told him it would be. Needless to say, they will not be getting my business for any type of plumbing work in the future. Had Du-West come do a foundation inspection after water began bubbling up through floor boards during Hurricane Harvey. I suspected a foundation crack. The gentleman who came out was very professional and courteous and he quickly ruled out any foundation issues and tracked the problem down to a faulty patio door installation. I am only giving Du-West one star because I'm not allowed to give them a zero. They were called to my residence on 11/21/18. They informed me that I would have to pay extra if they had to pull out the 'big machine'. I was perfectly okay with that and agreed to the price. 2 guys came out and left my home to go back to get the 'big machine'. They returned one hour later and, after about 10/15 minutes, appeared to have fixed the problem. On 11/23/18 I had the same problem again but did not contact Du-West until the next day 11/24/18 since the problem was discovered after business hours. I called Du-West and I was told that there would be another (pricey) service charge for them to come back out on a weekend. Here's the thing, I do not mind paying for a service. I just expect the service to be done. I should not have to pay for everytime they come out and try to get it right. Another plumber and the city of Houston came out and confirmed that the line had not been properly/fully cleared. I called the manager, Alton, on 11/27/18. He stated that he was not in the office at the time, but that he would be in later on that day. He said he would call me back then. I never heard back. On the next day, 11/28/18, I called Alton again and left a message with a receptionist who stated she would give him the message to call me back. Here it is exactly two weeks later and I have yet to hear back from him. This company is too large to have such subpar customer service. I would highly recommend, if you are considering using these guy, that you DO NOT do so. You will be extremely disappointed. read more

We used Du-West a year ago for a $600 sewer system static and isolation test. It was concluded that we had a sewer line leak under the foundation. We used a different company for the repair. Now, one full year later, we are getting a letter that says we have an unpaid balance for the full amount. They admit in the letter that this is most likely a book keeping issue of theirs, and that they have had personnel changes which may be the reason why. But they want me to provide proof that I paid this bill (which I did), in order to clear the account. Sorry, but if you can't keep your own books straight, why is that my problem? Worse yet, we got the letter despite the fact that they have our address wrong. With a lot of their repairs having a larger price tag, wouldn't it be great to end up fighting a lien on your property because of their book keeping error and inability to send bills and letters to the proper address. read more

My first impression of them is definitely not positive and if I could rate them lower I would. I setup an appointment with them and took a long lunch to accommodate meeting with them to get an estimate for some foundation work. They didn't show up and I didn't even receive a call either. I was initially a bit apprehensive setting anything up with them from the other reviews I had read and the fact that they were trying to charge a $10 fee just to come out, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Well, I learned my lesson and upon reviewing further, I had 3 missed calls from them the day before and 1 missed call the day of the appointment. I am pretty busy at work and usually in meetings, so the fact that they didn't have the courtesy of leaving a message with whatever excuse they may have had shows their level of professionalism. Just because I had missed calls wouldn't automatically make me think anything was wrong as I would have thought they would have confirmed the appointment or at least left a message to give me some type of information. No worries, I will take my business elsewhere and thank you for showing me what I can expect if I would have hired you. My other estimates were over $30K, so you probably lost a good sale and there are plenty of other companies I can consider. Hopefully this review helps others out by not wasting their time. read more
