For desert we shared "A little of everything" which consisted of a tartufo, a tiramiso, and a canoli. They gave us 2 complementary limoncellos to have with desert. The owner stopped by to see how everything was and kicked up a conversation about the restaurant and how it owned it for 39 years. There were constant crackling and popping sounds from the sound system every time he adjusted something. Food itself was just okay. My Colombian tamale was full of fatty pieces of beef and chicken. Corn tortillas were listed for half the items on the menu, but they said they only have flour tortillas available. There are better places for dinner and drinks around, and I don't think the food is worth ordering for takeout. We ordered the Crab Mexican Street Corn for an appetizer and while it was loaded with crab, it wasn't Mexican Street Corn ... it was seasoned corn with old bay and a few other ingredients topped with crab. I ordered the Steak & Shrimp Combo Fajitas which was a nice portion size (I took 3/4 home) and the flavors were pretty darn tasty, but when you order fajitas you expect the "sizzle" and these didn't have that nor were they have the right temperature ... they were just warm when I wanted and expected them to be hot. She was friendly, but busy familiarizing herself with the bar so I went simple and ordered Birria Tacos - $15 Braised beef, onions, cilantro, lime Oaxaca cheese, consommé. The beef was dry and not tender. The shells were ok. The best part was the lime Oaxaca cheese and the consommé somewhat helped me get the beef down. The portion was very small. Not a good value in my humble opinion. The other patrons were mostly young and enjoying margaritas. I think booze is the draw to this spot. Without it your just getting average Mexican grub. The restaurant business it's quite different because a lot of times Managment will come around and asked you. How was your meal or your overall experience but the problem is most of them are just asking, and they really don't care. They asked you when your mouth is full, and you can't give a full accurate answer. They are just going through the motions. So I think that makes it hard for the restaurant industry. So this leads me to my second reason for updating my review. I was contacted by Upper management of this restaurant and they truly cared about what I had to say they listened we talked and it reminded me how I treat my own business because my policy is my door is always open. I don't care what the problem is. I will do my best to try to fix it and that's exactly what I got from Restaurante Lucca. They went above and beyond to address my concerns And to make myself and my family feel better about our second experience at their restaurant. So with that being said, I recommend if you're in the Bordentown area you give this restaurant a try. they have a new menu and it was excellent.
