They nailed it - especially with respect to the seasoning, which was Old Bay: I asked that they go easy on that spice, as I like it but not the way most heavy-handed cooks use it. Downside? For a place that's an American Outlaws headquarters and ranked as a top soccer pub, I was pretty disappointed during the USA vs. Paraguay World Cup match. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the overall atmosphere was good. I have no complaints about that. The biggest issue was how the game day was handled. There was no available seating, and the air conditioning seemed like it wasn't working. The place was extremely hot and uncomfortable. It got so bad that we left at halftime and went home to watch the rest of the game. On a normal day, this is a great spot to grab food and hang out. My first impression of the Firkin tavern . I knew it was considered a dive bar with good food . My food was good , my service was also good and my waiter was friendly and attentive . my gripe is the place is filthy . We sat in the back where there were booths close to the outside patio . The windowsills were filled with dust and cobwebs and some small food remnants from past visits . It was not wiped down for some time . That was obvious. The beer/wine barrel sitting a top the booths was covered with about a half inch of dust that can be seen from any angle . As an owner or manager don't you see this ? Obviously cleaning isn't a priority in the restaurant where you serve the patrons. Just wondering what that kitchen looks like . Not planning on a return, I'm just hoping someone who cares will take some pride in their place of employment and clean the place . I was only in Ewing for one night, but that was enough for me to declare The Firkin Tavern to be a neighborhood fixture and a local gem. Located in the same shopping center as most of the area's major food and drink destinations, Firkin commands an impressive space with family dining, an adults only game room, and an enormous bar. Happy hour is a magical time of night, with eye-popping discounts on a variety of food items. I ordered a $6 smash burger and the $10 wings (8 pcs). To start, a Bud Light and Tullamore Dew combo, affordably priced in the $8 range. My initial impression of this place having great prices held true throughout my visit. There were two bartenders working that night, providing great service, always circling back at just the right time. I played a few songs on the TouchTunes jukebox, then later moved to a different seat with a better view of the MLB All-Star Game on the TV above the bar. I took a recommendation to get a side of parm garlic sauce to accompany my Vampire Killer dry rub wings. This is absolutely the move if you want a powerful and delicious flavor experience. Back to the burger: excellent. It looked a little underwhelming alone on the plate but it tasted great and had a succulent mouthfeel. I was so impressed by the food, I even ordered a french onion soup before the night was done. I've never had so much fun peeling off the crispy melted cheese from the side of the bowl. It was indulgent--yes, I ate way too much--but my mouth was happy. Firkin also has a strong selection of craft beers on tap. I asked for a recommendation and ended up with a lovely pint of Fugu, a havy IPA that broke up the monotony of my cheap domestics. When I closed out, I couldn't believe how well I'd done. I was in town for a high school reunion event, staying at the Ewing Marriott. The Firkin is minutes from the hotel and a great place. I first went here many years ago and had a good time. This visit was better. I tried the Oklahoma Burger and what a treat. Raw onions are cooked inside the burger and it's topped with cheddar cheese. OMG.....delicious. Terrific lunch at Firkin's. I was craving short ribs and they did not disappoint. Short ribs French dip was absolutely delicious. The meat was plentiful and so tender. It definitely satisfied my craving. I hope they add short rib grilled cheese to the menu! My husband had the Thai boneless wings and Mahi Mahi tacos. He loved the sauce on the wings and said the tacos were stuffed with perfectly cooked fish. Service was excellent. We'll definitely be back. read more

All which were flavorful and plenty enough portion size. The Cobb salad I ordered had fresh lettuce, plenty of avocado, and egg, and grilled seasoned chicken. The bang bang shrimp and tacos were also very well seasoned. Although the fish taco was a bit crispy, it still was tasty. The shrimp was the best I've had..even better than bonefish which is their signature. The bad: nothing. There wasn't anything I could pinpoint. This location is in an unassuming strip mall. Don't let the exterior fool you! We were in town visiting family who live nearby, and this is one of their favorite places. They have a good menu and a good kids menu. However, the Friday before St. Patrick's Day they were serving a very limited menu. Ugh! We still had good food and good service, but might have picked another place to eat had we known that prior to getting there. I enjoyed a Guinness and fish and chips. Some of the best fried fish I have had in a long time! We also enjoyed a brownie sundae for dessert. The brownie was huge and it would have been perfect with double the ice cream. read more

I wanted to eat and had to ask for a menu when the bartender finally came back with my beer. THEN after he left a menu, he nor anyone else came back to ask for my food order. If felt more like a frat house that knows its members and ONLY takes care of them. What a horrible experience ALL 3 TIMES!!! I will find another place that wants my money! BUT..... Every negative on Yelp for Firkin is very true: Disgustingly dirty starting with the curtails in the outside window to unusable restrooms (and I can't imagine the kitchen...) Incredibly rude staff Almost all men at bar ( women have much better taste in where they eat and drink!) Sorry guys, but give you a beer and you'll be back) Bartenders ignore you ... they would rather play around at the sink or pretend to wash glasses Are the bartenders lacking in intelligence, interest in promoting tips, or just prefer to wander around aimlessly?!! And we watched them ignore numerous male patrons looking for a refill... We had to yell at them to ask if there was a happy hour menu... and to get our bill. Mediocre food IF the item isn't out! Our items were unedible due to over spicing and one of us survives on Siracha sauce! Note: patrons on either side of us complained of this issue... what are they covering up?! I can only imagine. The last time I was in, a few weeks ago, they were in the middle of a menu change so the options were fairly limited. Nevertheless, what they had was very good.
