(Takeout Order) Cuban Quesadillas: Packed full of meat & flavor. 4.5/5

Firkin's was one of the first places I was introduced to when I moved to Ewing, NJ. I remember when they use to do team trivia night every Thursday, and me and my teacher team use to win week after week lol. Now when I have visitors in town I make sure THIS is a must to stop by! From the service, setup, food, to the games that are provided, this is a true hidden gem.

We traveled for Pork Roll Fries - and will do it again Pork Roll Fries are memorable! A little crispy out the outside with full Pork Roll flavor on the inside. We didn't eat anything else and didn't have a drink because we were traveling to Maryland. We stopped in for lunch. The rooms are large and comfortable. The service is friendly and attentive.

I was told this could very well be the best Burger in NJ, so you know I had to pop in and find out. Oh, you're curious what I thought? Why not just watch the video (on all major apps) Seriously though, really good quality beef, awesome bacon, onions were cooked well, temp on the burger was correct. If there are some "negatives", they're in the video. The service was good, outdoor seating was nice, and there was a parking lot so no fighting over spots and needing meter money. I can confidently say Firkin Tavern - Didn't Suck!

I was in town for a high school reunion event, staying at the Ewing Marriott. The Firkin is minutes from the hotel and a great place. I first went here many years ago and had a good time. This visit was better. I tried the Oklahoma Burger and what a treat. Raw onions are cooked inside the burger and it's topped with cheddar cheese. OMG.....delicious. Served with fries and ice cold Yuengling. Great neighborhood pub. I'm a NY Giant's fan and the Firkin is clearly an Eagles pub. I didn't care!!!!!

Stopped in for a light lunch. We sat at the bar which was not overly crowded and listened to the bartender have conversation with customers whom clearly were regulars without even being acknowledged. After what I felt was an unacceptable amount of time we decided to grab a table. The hostess was kind of enough to inform us we could eat which we declined. Overall the food was fine and our server was nice. However the place needs a good cleaning.

Terrific lunch at Firkin's. I was craving short ribs and they did not disappoint. Short ribs French dip was absolutely delicious. The meat was plentiful and so tender. It definitely satisfied my craving. I hope they add short rib grilled cheese to the menu! My husband had the Thai boneless wings and Mahi Mahi tacos. He loved the sauce on the wings and said the tacos were stuffed with perfectly cooked fish. Service was excellent. We'll definitely be back.

The Firkin Tavern has it all. Great bartenders, excellent food and menu choices, a phenomenal beer list, good crowds, and great prices. We've visited here a few times and tried several dishes and everything was excellent. This is a "can't go wrong" spot with something for everyone. They even have a game room with pool tables, darts, and more.

Burger with American cheese. No bun.

Best Firkin burger!! And not just a "burger" but a sirloin, brisket and chuck burger! I will never order anything else! A great chill bar. Love this place.

Classic pub atmosphere with good menu selection. Bar area is lively but there is quieter dining available in separate area. Food was excellent and service was efficient and attentive. I will definitely go again when I am in the area.

Ask the Community - The Firkin Tavern

Do they still have a happy hour? If so, where can I find the hours and the menu specials prices?

happy hour Monday through Friday from 4-7pm at the bar. They don't list what they are. I would suggest calling or emailing.

I couldn't stay long, so I didn't get to try the food, but I saw that they seemed to have a pretty good happy hour food deal on a burger for Thursdays. Pretty clean inside, and overall it's a nice spot, but the bathroom is quite a walk from the main bar! Looks like they have a lot of room in there potentially for private parties and such too, which is cool. We had a table in the corner near the front door, which wasn't in very clear view of the waitstaff, so it was a bit hard to get their attention, though once they had our attention, the server was very friendly and helpful. I'd return for another try, and might plan a future happy hour after work there! It's only about ten minutes from the office.

This was formerly yet another of their restaurants called Union Boil which we weren't a fan of. The name Pennytown pays homage to the original name of the town. There is an English Pub motif and a cozy feel inside. We came to try their happy hour and it far exceeded our expectations. We tried the white bean hummus, the fried cauliflower, and the zucchini Frite. These were not frozen typical bar food apps. They were definitely hand cut from fresh veggies and so delicious. We must have said wow with every bite. During happy hour, weekdays between 4-6 there's a nice selection of apps for half price and drinks and wines were only $5. Service was also great and the appetizer portions were so big, two of us ended up not being able to even finish them. Our bill was $30 for 3 giant and delicious apps, and 3 drinks. Where can you get that these days? We will definitely be frequenting this happy hour and trying some other things on the menu as well. The bar pies looked delicious and they had some nice specials posted on the blackboard too.

Nestled on the cutesy street of Farnsworth Ave., with a casual exterior and outdoor patio, this pub's best kept secret is that it offers some of the best food in town! The menu has options for everyone, with big flavor, variety, and drinks with flare. The vibe is casual, there is indoor seating upstairs and downstairs, with outdoor seating available on the main level, and two full service bars! A good place to bring a group of 6 or less, perfect for a meet up with friends and great for those who love a good "drinks and tapas" style dinner! The food portions are a good size and shareable. Cheesesteak egg rolls, jalapeño egg rolls, lobster bao buns, and the shrimp caesar salad with their homemade dressing are must orders! The food always arrives to your table hot, fresh and absolutely savory. Each time we've visited the service has been attentive and timely with friendly staff, who offer tasty suggestions. If you're looking for a slightly elevated drink experience when it comes to cocktails, the bartenders here have it! Well blended, you can taste the "hand crafted" in your beverage and they are truly layered with the flavors listed on the menu. While parking is free, it is limited and tucked away behind the building. Street parking and an additional parking lot is available down the block. There are many small cafes, restaurants and other unique businesses nearby to enjoy as well. Enjoy friends!

The only reason I didn't make this a five out of five was that I felt that it was very limited on the happy hour menu and wind up spending a lot more than I anticipated because we ordered off the regular menu in addition to just the hot wings and I'm not even sure if I drink choices. The beers were on the happy hour unless it was like two or three on tap so that was a little bothersome for me. It was hard to sort of follow what is and what Isn't but I think we'll give it a fair. Try one another time when Fifa games are not going on. We did order wings off the happy hour menu, but then from the regular menu I had the sesame tuna tacos instead of fries which I hate I had brussels sprouts but again there's an up charge to do that. My wife had the half cheesesteak she added sautéed peppers she added a chipotle. Aïoli and she also swapped out tater tots for whatever the fried choice was but everything was at an up charge. Food was tasty was good but again like I said I was coming for happy hour and I felt like I wasn't happy with the hour.

It had been more than a year since my last visit to Marty's Place. Time flies!…read more I was driving by this morning after court, having skipped breakfast at home in order to get a jump on traffic going into the city. I saw a new sign out front on a Bud Light white board that breakfast was now being served 7 days a week! Hot diggity! I parked out back and walked in to a mostly empty bar (2 customers who looked like they were regulars). The bartender approached and we engaged about their breakfast menu. It was pretty wide open if my desires had anything to do with eggs. They did. I opted for a sausage, egg and cheese on Kaiser roll, and mug of java. While it was being created in the kitchen I watched a show about exotic car auctions. A Borgati opening at a cool million bucks was an eye opener. Another black transport used by John Lennon around London was also put up and sold. Pretty cool entertainment. The sandwich was great! Double patty, fried egg, American cheese and a fresh, quality roll, made for a tasty and fun meal. The side of homefries was likewise excellent - hot, crisp and spicy with sautéed onions in the mix. Coffee, strong and kicking. The only shortcomings were the lack of a joe refill offering, and lack of utensils. Luckily, I had a spoon from the coffee, which was fine as a shovel.
