    desayuno especial
    Sebastian C.

A hearty desayuno with some good arepas is the first thing I crave whenever I'm back in Queens. Unfortunately I hadn't been able to find any Colombian or Venezuelan places at all in the Trenton area for the longest time, until I found Casdeluna. The restaurant is tucked away in a mostly residential part of Chambersburg. Casdeluna has an all-day breakfast menu with many options, in addition to a extensive lunch/dinner menu. I placed my order online through their website and it was ready in 20 minutes. Note they do not have online payment, it is still in person at pickup (card or cash). The "desayuno especial" was great--fresh, generous portions, and most importantly the arepas were on point. The empanada was pretty good, could've been a little fresher though. For COVID, only the pickup window is open, no indoor dining.

CasDeLuna Venezuelan arepas takeout in Trenton

Chambersburg in Trenton has transformed from one of America's oldest Little Italys to a Latin food oasis - especially Guatemalan. I never was in Chambersburg when it was an Italian enclave, but I have been there in recent years as it very close to the Trenton Transportation Center and the trains to NYC & Philly. This time I wanted to try out a Venezuelan eatery called CasDeLuna because I liked their sign outside stating they made 'The World's Best Arepas.' Service during the pandemic is at their outdoor window and that is where I ordered my meal. I tried three different types of Venezuelan arepas. First I ordered the Pabellon. This was very tasty with its filling of beef, plantains, and cheese. I then ordered the Pelua which again came with shredded beef but this time the cheese was a yellow one. Also on the tasty side but not as flavorful as the Pabellon. My final arepa was the largest one and that was a Cachapa. This is more like a sweet corn pancake rolled and filled with meat & cheese as well as lettuce and tomatoes. I would give this a thumbs up as well. Of course all arrived with the ubiquitous Venezuelan Guasacaca sauce which I gladly put on each of my arepas. This cilantro-based sauce can be addictive. I don't know if CasDeLuna's arepas are truly the best on the planet but I can tell you they are tasty and worthy of a stop when in the Trenton area. Tip - I was slightly overcharged which I discovered after I paid. I didn't say anything but as a result I didn't leave a tip. There are no prices listed on the big outdoor menu board. However while I was waiting for my food, I asked to see a paper menu which they keep behind the counter and there I saw the prices and realized they were slightly lower than what I was charged for each item. I would suggest asking for the paper menu when ordering so you can do the addition at the time of purchase.

This is authentic and delicious Venezuelan food. The Cachapa is a sweet corn based pie-pancake type food from Venezuela, just like the arepas that span Colombia and Vemezuela. The Cachapas are huge and only $5 (as of June 2019), and that is absolutely cheap. I'm used to paying over $11 for Cachapas in Miami. My girl had the tostones hamburger and she loved it. We ate outside which was great for the whether

This is more like 4.5 stars, the food was incredible (and I know, I'm Venezuelan) - but damn the place inside is dingey inside. I came here thanks to Yelpers who rightfully identified this as a Venezuelan Arepa restaurant/bar versus the Pizzeria it is tagged as. I am SO glad I ventured in because I had some of the best food here and at a great price. Hubby and I came for breakfast so we ordered two arepas - a very boring Perico one (just eggs and cheese) and a chicken and cheese (that was super yummy). At $5 a pop, I thought it was very reasonable, because they were a nice size with good filling. The TRUE SUPERSTARS of our order were the Patacon and Cachapa! The Patacon is a sandwich with your choice of shredded beef or chicken in between two giant tostones (fried green plantains), with lettuce tomato and sauce. Oh my goodness, this was heavenly! Hubby and I nearly fought over the last bite. As for the Cachapa, essentially it is a sweet corn pancake (of for Colombians a thin arepa de chocolo), filled with crumbled cheese. This was a really big size, with lots of cheese inside, I was in heaven. I could have one of these every single morning for breakfast! We got our order to go, and if it was warmer weather, I would've just ordered in their to go window and waited in my car, but instead we walked in to wait. The inside is a dingey bar, smells musty, terribly dark and outdated wallpaper. I really wish it was SLIGHTLY nicer, but even the table clothes looked like they had been here for 30 years. It is definetely more bar inside than restaurant, but they do have a few tables if you want to sit and eat. I would say to not be put off by the inside and please go in and get some delicious Venezuelan food! It is a great addition to the Trenton Latin cuisine, and I will be definitely going back!

I was working in the area and I couldn't pass up a sign that said best arepas in the world. While I can't review the bar, the arepa was delicious. The inside was very clean and staff was inviting. Don't be discouraged if you are not a Spanish speaker.

We ordered patacon and papusas, it was SO delicious. They had their own sauce that was delicious. I will definitely order from this restaurant again. I got the beef patacon and it was perfectly cooked the beef was cooked perfect.

Immediately when you walk in, it's clean, it's spacious, it has plenty of seating. You have plenty of space with your dishes when you go to sit down. You can look out the window and enjoy your lunch. The food... my God the food. I can't wait to come back here again. I will say they give you enough to last you to the next lunch day lol. But I will be coming back with updates when I try more things here. I got the steak platter and all the ingredients are so fresh, it's so well-made. Nothing tastes old, the flavors are amazing. I really have nothing bad to say. I will say the only hiccup is the workers don't really speak English, however, they do provide you with the phone so they can translate what you're saying, which is great. I waited an appropriate amount of time for dish like this and will be telling everyone I run into about this place. It's peaceful, the music is calming. You're not overly loud like a lot of these restaurants. It's clean, and the food is great! I found my new lunch spot. Update: went back the next day with my leftovers from my previous visit. Decided to try the beef empanada with the sauce that I missed the first day. Some kind of cilantro not spicy sauce. Also got the tres leches. Hands-down the best tres leches I've ever had in my life. And when I tell you that sauce puts the empanada over the edge. That's exactly what it needed. I will be coming here all the time!

I was honestly really shocked to walk inside and have it look more like a hole in the wall bar than a restaurant, plus the giant tv screen with security were pretty off-putting. We decided to not be so judgey on the dark decor and instead test out some plates from their extensive menu. Hubby ordered a shrimp arepa and a chicken arepa. He preferred the shrimp arepa, I liked the chicken better. I ordered a Patacon con todo (a large plantain fried and filled like a sandwich with meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato and pink sauce). The sandwich was good, but had way too much sauce. My son had the steak with rice and beans, and the steak was awful. It was chewy, overcooked and full of fat. The beans were also not that great. Overall, I didn't feel like the customer service was great here (our server was fine, but nothing to really note), the place is super dark and gloomy (the music was not even good), combined with the giant security cameras...it's a miss for me. If you are single and looking for a place to grab a drink and some real food, I think this would be the place for you.

The family operated restaurant has some great authentic dishes and the flavors are spot on. The staff is super friendly and they speak Spanish. I had the Shredded beef rice bowl with beans and sweat plantains. They asked me if I wanted cheese on my dish, but because I'm Puerto Rican and you never put cheese on Rice and Beans I said no thanks. But I will say that as a Latino this place took me home in a bowl. The beans were just like my wife makes, accept it's a different bean. The shredded beef had some much of that hispanic flavor I love so much. The beef was super tender and the plantains were fried to perfection. Now I know this is an Arepa bar and I should have had an Arepa but I am not a fan of Arepa's. It's a texture thing for me, but I love the items that go inside of them. As for my co-worker, He had two Arepas and a sugarcane lemonade drink and a cheese stick. He loved every bite! So Arepas are a must buy here along with a rice bowl like I had. Side note: you got to try their sauces! Their hot sauce is called Picante and is made with Habanero peppers. Look out for that one it's super hot! The garlic Sauce and the cilantro sauce taste great but the colors will confuse you. I bet when you see the sauces you'll guess the wrong color with the flavor. So to end this long review, I say yes you should stop by the place and have a meal. It's small and there is only one table so you might want to get your order to go.

Well, now. Finding truly authentic Venezuelan cuisine wasn't on my 2026 bingo card (as the cool…read morekids say), but I'm definitely stamping this square. Dios mio, what a meal! There was not a bad bite to be had. We might've cut the roofs of our mouths with the crisped-to-perfection Patacón, but I don't care--I think all sandwiches should be encased in fried plantain instead of bread. And the succulent pernil filling? Dios mio otra vez! Though, tbf, when is pernil ever a bad choice? Then there was the stuffed-to-the-brim Cachapa filled with carne mechada and Venezuelan cheese. It was enormous. Like, Jesus pulling from the neverending fish basket enormous. It never ended. We had to take it home. But before we did, I practically ate all of the arepa, which was the sweetest, bursting-with-corn-flavor arepa I've ever had outside of South America. It was so good, I practically cried with every bite. Tears of corny joy, mind you. We got an entree of grilled fish (Filete de Pescado a la Plancha), which came with a complimentary side--in our case, arroz amarillo cuz I gotta have my grains. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside, meltingly tender on the inside. As with everything else, it was also way bigger than it had any right to be. Finally, we ended with what we THOUGHT would be a small item--the Arepa Arcoiris Llanero--but we were mistaken. It was stuffed so full of fresh avocado, shredded chicken, and various veggies that it had to be further encased in a paper wrapper for fear of the arepa wrap giving up on its job. We didn't make it more than a few bites before having to regretfully pack it home, but those few bites were chef's kiss. Venezuela has long been on my bucket list (who doesn't want to see Mount Roraima or Angel Falls?), but until I can get there, I'll be more than happy to "settle" for coming to this beautifully modern paradise of culinary delights. Throw in the huge portions and unbelievably low prices, and it's kind of a no-brainer to make the trip.

I could tell from the photos that the vibe was lighthearted and trendy, and the reviews of their food were also excellent, so it was the perfect choice. We pulled up in our ride share and noticed that valet parking was available, which was helpful to know for the future. We ascended the several steps up to the lobby, where we checked in and were then escorted to one of their two dining rooms. We were greeted by our nice server and then I went to look for the restroom, only to discover that there was a single bathroom for all diners. I found that odd, particularly because, though the restaurant was not super crowded on that evening, I know that it could be busy on weekends. Anyway, after waiting around five minutes, I was able to get inside and then rush back to my dining companion. We both reviewed the drink menus, intrigued by the fruity, tropical concoctions on offer. I settled on the Ex Keeps Calling, which was made of Don Julio Tequila, passion fruit, cinnamon, Cointreau, lime, Aperol, and mint. The orange-colored drink arrived in a rocks glass on a large wooden board that also included an antique telephone that was ringing. It was such a playful presentation! The cocktail resembled a passion fruit margarita, but had slight bitter notes from the Aperol and sweetness from the cinnamon. I could not detect the mint, but the cinnamon really made the drink memorable, in my opinion. My partner ordered the Guarapita, which included Patron Reposado, guava, pineapple, lime, and thyme, and was served in a large rectangular glass that looked like a purse and even had a leather strap attached to it. The drink was decent, but tasted like cotton candy, so it was a bit too sweet. From a food perspective, we were very intrigued by many items on the menu and decided to start by sharing the Trio De Cesticas De Platano Rellenas, a set of three plantain cups with protein stuffing. The menu said that we had our choice of fillings between beef, pork, and chicken, so we had assumed that we would receive one of each. However, the trio only accommodated one variety. We choose the beef and were thrilled with how juicy it was. The meat was tender, and the marinade was juicy and savory. The plantain cup, however, was a bit dry and was potentially premade. For my entree, I selected the Pechuga de Pollo, which was always a favorite dish of mine. The chicken breast was pounded into a massive, thin filet that was juicy and well-marinated. That was a contrast to my companion's Lomo Salteado, a dish of stir-fried beef with onions, tomatoes, and spices that included pretty dry and chewy meat. The dish also had a few large potato slices that looked like they had been fried, but tasted baked. Those could have used a bit more flavor. Both dishes came with our choice of side dish. I went with the mixed vegetables, and he went with the yellow rice, both of which were good but needed more pizazz. Overall, we loved the tropical rainforest atmosphere, childlike cocktail presentations, and tasty food. We just felt that the dishes could have used some additional seasoning. However, we would gladly return.

I actually came here on a whim with my parents (who are very picky eaters and prefer Colombian food more than anything), and they were very satisfied! They have plates for really any palate, from baked goods to full meals, you will find something delicious. We happen to come on a Sunday morning and ordered smoothies (strawberry ones) to start our meals. A bit on the sweet side, but you can absolutely ask for a bit less sugar. The meal that seemed the most popular was a big chicken soup. My dad got it and was in love. It seemed like a good hangover cure, if u were looking around at the guys dragging around with long faces. We also go a tipical breakfast which included beans, eggs, rice and meat. This is very similar to a Colombian calentado, and it was a huge hit for my mom. Hubby and I shared an order of pupusas, crispy, delcious and hit the spot! All the meals were large enough to share, which we did along side some pastries, coffees and smoothies. The only star I am taking off is because the outside is super shady looking and for a while I thought it was a bar and hesistated to go in. Also, service took pretty long on menu items that weren't on their buffet. Overall, all of us left with full and happy bellies! I would absolutely come back again.
