This place is right down the street from my house and you can order a real cheeseburger fries and coleslaw +drink is the same price as Mickey D's. Have visited this place for breakfast several times. The food has always been good. Standard breakfast comfort food, and some creative and tasty variations. Recommend the food, for sure. Service is a bit of an adventure. Sometimes great and timely. Interesting that the busier times are the best times to get decent service. When there are several open tables, then service quality plummets. One visit there was some drama amongst the five staffers, and there was not service given for 44 minutes. So, reliably good food and spotty service. You might have a great meal. You might have to leave without a meal after sitting there for nearly an hour. read more

One of very few breakfast spots in L/A that open before 7am makes it a great place to head to before work or school. We visited on a Friday morning and were greeted by friendly and prompt service. We came here on a Sunday morning and they were short-staffed . We were seated after about 10 minutes and our waitress was apologetic and extremely busy but didn't give off a flustered or panicked vibe. The omelet and home fries were good, the egg sandwich was enjoyed and the homemade corned beef hash was solid but not amazing. Our waitress forgot to put the hash on the order and apologized profusely. The entire staff was weeded and it was totally understandable but she took it off the bill anyway. My son and I were in the mood for crepes, so we stopped in to Dubois's and had a wonderful breakfast! My crepes with strawberries and whipped cream were delicious and my son's stuffed French toast was also tasty. Even with drinks, our entire bill was $29! Dubois Cafe is a shabby but delightful oasis in the foodie desert that is Central Maine. It offers classic diner breakfasts, and the parking lot is always packed with locals. We may have been the only from-awayers there. The wait staff are quick and charming, being sure to make everyone feel welcome, but never lingering long enough to make things awkward. I order French toast, sausage and home fries - which I recommend over the too crisp hash-browns. It was fast and excellent. There is some sort of fake syrup on the table, but I would encourage visitors to spring $1.50 extra for the real maple syrup. The only reason I can't give Dubois five stars is because they gave us limp bacon when we asked for extra crisp. Otherwise, it is highly recommended. An authentic charming Acadian diner that feels far more like the real Maine than a trip to LL Bean. read more

I've been wanting to stop in and was finally able to do so. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I love everything about it. Dubois is open early so I can stop in before or after my workout. The prices are fair, service has always been really good both times I've been in. The philly cheese omelet and raisin toast were yummy. My coffee cup was never empty. The service at Dubois Cafe is eager, earnest, and friendly -- you'll feel welcomed, for sure. The food is hit-or-miss. Blueberry pancakes were flatter than flat, not fluffy, and fairly tasteless. The haddock, on the other hand, in a haddock sandwich and baked two different ways, was outstanding. Downside again: the potato salad was bland -- supermarket-prepared potato salad has far more flavor -- and the coleslaw is the cloyingly sweet, sugary kind that is basically grated, not chopped. Photos on the wall of breakfast specials -- 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, and coffee for $5.99 -- and the friendly service that I mentioned earlier, will probably get me to give Dubois Cafe another chance. We stopped at Dubois cafe this morning for breakfast and enjoyed it. It is located in a 1960s era house that has been converted to a small cafe. It is pretty plain inside. Service was quick and friendly. Our server kept our coffee cups filled. The food was very good. My wife really enjoyed her crepes. Just like her mom made growing up! I had a corned beef hash skillet. Was recommended Dubois by a neighbor and we were not disappointed! The food was DELICIOUS! I had the crab meet salad wrap and my fiancé had the eggs Benedict. We basically licked our plate clean. They are a little short staffed and service was slow, but nothing too bad. Would definitely have brunch here again in the future!! read more

It is a small diner like atmosphere, and the staff are hard working and cheerful. I worked in the industry during my college years and one thing is that hot food should be a priority. This staff knows this. If your food is up and ready and your server is busy taking another order, then another server will deliver. They have a really good breakfast selection as well. read more

DuBois Cafe is a diner lover's dream! Though it has an informal cafe decor, it has a true diner "feel"--friends, neighbors, but no strangers once you've come through the door. Ample portions, the very best blueberry pancakes and unsurpassed, in price or taste, lobster roll--though I generally get mine on grilled texas toast. (And I am a traditionlist, but they convinced me to try the texas toast option and I am hooked!) Crabmeat roll also excellent, soups are excellent, daily specials and monthly specials are plentiful and varied. Even when very busy, the service is quick and pleasant. Not open for dinner, but a hearty later lunch makes dinner unnecessary anyway! Everything is made at the Cafe. And it shows. It is "as good as it gets." read more
