Turkey, Turkey & Granny Smith Apple sandwich on wheat bread
    Rebecca D.

I enjoyed my lunch at Isabella's. On a beautiful Saturday at 1 it was quite empty, so no need to worry about seating. I ordered the turkey, apple, and cheddar sandwich on wheat bread and while it wasn't the best version of the sandwich I've had, it was still very tasty. The turkey was thick and quite dry, but everything else was good. My friend also enjoyed her caprese sandwich.

Great service and helpful! Cinnamon bun and sticky bun were really good - moist not overly sweet.

    Roasted Turkey BLT

Came here for breakfast before exploring the shops! We were able to walk in around 9am with no reservation and get seated immoderately. The roasted turkey BLT was delicious. There were also some baked good items as well. Small interior so I imagine in a busier time period there may be long wait times. Very quaint and homey feeling.

    Western Omelet

We walked past this restaurant a couple of times and thought we'd give it a try for breakfast. We were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn just down the street. The food was good, not spectacular and pretty expensive, but we've realized that most of Maine makes their money off of tourist. We had a bartender tell us that "The locals pay the bills, but the tourists put the kids through college." We both had the Western Omelet. Again, good, but pretty bland. Some salsa would have been a great addition. Jelly for the toast was just your Smucker's that you get at any average restaurant. $50 for two for an average breakfast is pretty expensive. I don't think I would return here as the cost doesn't match the quality of the food.

    The yummy burrito!

From musty dive hotel bar, and not one of the fun ones (well there was this one older lady that would serve you the strongest drink of your life whether you told her you were driving or not but other than that), to fine dining. Beyond impressed! This place is BEAUTIFUL and I don't know how they did it, but it doesn't have that smell anymore. And anyone that has been there in the past knows exactly what I'm talking about. Kinda like your grandmother's basement after a flood from 15 years ago that no one probably cleaned up. Yeah you know the smell. The short ribs were gorgeous, the reduction was perfect and the wild mushroom au gratin was heavenly. NY strip was perfectly tender, seasoned well and cooked to perfection. I'm never surprised anymore when a restaurant forgets what "medium" actually is. Sadly, I'm at the point where I'm surprised when they get it right. Pleasantly, but still surprised. This place, definitely gets my vote when I go to Freeport to spoil myself. If you haven't gone here yet, you're doing it wrong.

December 4, 2025 My…read moremother and I went to Porter's today for lunch. I hadn't been to the Harraseeket Inn for 25 years, so I was anxious to see what had changed. It took a few minutes to be seated, since no one was manning the reception station. Apparently that's waitstaff's job - when they're not doing 100 other things. This is an oversight on the restaurant's part and something I pointed out to the manager. Once we were seated though, our experience blossomed into something really wonderful. Neither my mother nor I ordered appetizers.... Since we figured that lunch would be enough (it was). They don't serve bread or crackers or anything as a gratuity - which is probably a cost-saving as well as time-saving measure. It also forces you into buying one of their "small plates" (appetizers), which looked wonderful but were also quite pricey. We also didn't order alcohol- which probably saved us between $30 and $50, since their cocktails were $15 and upwards. Same is true with their wines. Appealing but pricey. I ordered the beef short rib entree ($38) (see attached photo) with a small Caesar salad and their wild mushroom ragout. The beef was some of the best I've ever had. It was fork-tender, juicy, and flavorful in ways that are hard to describe. As for the wild mushroom ragout.... It was cheesy and delicious, but lacked any visible mushroom. I told our waitress so and I hope she passed it on to the chef. My mother ordered their Grilled salmon, served on a bed of cranberry quinoa and topped with an avocado sauce that was amazing (see photo). ($41). The food was so good that there was no hope of taking any home. We wiped out everything! (See photo) We hard coffee with our meal and with taxes and tip, the bill came to $118. Well worth it for such a fabulous meal. We'll go back, but with my father and eldest daughter in tow next time!!

We have consistently had great experiences here. Food is always exactly what we hope for when ordering and in some cases, exceeded expectations. The service is always very good. Pleasant, prompt and fun to interact with. The management and staff at this location, are always so professional and well skilled. They definitely help make it a great experience. The environment hasn't really changed - cozy warm living room feel. Upholstered furniture. Still very nice. It's amazing that it doesn't feel worn out, even after all of these years. In the colder days, the fire place and fire pits are nice. Appetizers have been consistently great. The favorites: fresh bread, crab cakes, calamari and meatball Main dishes - any of the specials they offer are typically great. The most recent one I had was the crab cake and burrata risotto. Any pasta dish is usually amazing and I love ALL of their dinner salads with so many protein options you can add. The desserts - the only one that I know and love is the chocolate cake. ALWAYS consistently good! Parking - street and behind the restaurant there is a lower lot - difficult if you have accessibility needs, as it's an angled driveway. Warning - it's a one way in and one way out lot! There are signs, however, I have seen some people either not see them or ignore them. Drive slowly. Reservations - Easy peasy via the Resy App! I highly recommend reservations even on days you think it might be slow. This place is a main hub for the town and surrounding towns for a nice sit down dinner that isn't too casual.

We still love their smashburgers - you can get a signature one and you can build your own - they have really expanded options over the past 5 years. The chicken sandwiches are always so good. I recently discovered I loved the Jalapeño Popper Chicken sandwich. Their fries are always so great - especially if you have queso. Speaking of queso - one of the best things they have added to their appetizer menu...chips and queso- We love eating the leftover queso with our fries with our sandwiches. Chips have a lovely seasoning - sometimes a little heavy handed with flavor - but they are still delicious. I love their breadstick/pizza appetizer. it's more a focaccia bread and it's soooo good. Sometimes I just have that for my main meal. They have wonderful local beers in the cooler and wonderful sparkling non-alcoholic options as well. Don't forget to ask about their specials. In January we had the chicken curry soup - holy moly - it was SOOOOOO GOOOD!!!! And the warm pita that accompanies it. It's perfect. The shaved brussel sprout caesar is soooo good and VERY filling. While it's a small dining area - we have never found it crowded where there weren't seats. The food is just as delicious to-go. They do a ton of to-go orders. Turns out, this place is way better than I expected. I had it in my head that it was some kind of tourist trap because of the location, but nope. It actually gives off super local vibes, and the food was REALLY good. I think this might be in my top three for best food-to-price ratio in the greater Portland area (does Freeport even count as that?). My "dish" was $11.99 and came with two eggs, two sausage links, two hash browns, and a homemade biscuit. The only thing I didn't get two of was the biscuit, but it was huge, so I was actually relieved about that. I left stuffed. More importantly, everything was really yummy! The hash browns were crispy but not greasy, the eggs were cooked perfectly sunny-side up, and that homemade biscuit... I could've taken another one to-go. Make sure you ask for it grilled; you'll thank me later. My husband got the biscuits and gravy and his food was just as good. Also, they have dozens of mimosa flavors. I had the pineapple mimosa and it was phenomenal. Service was great, too. Our server was friendly and super attentive.
