Both were very pleasant and every time a meal was ready from the kitchen, you could hear them say thank you to the cooking crew. The menu options are pretty standard and the prices are reasonable. They have a special board, so make sure to check that out before placing your order. They also have lunch specials on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The dining area is very accessible. And there are no stairs upon entry. I'm not sure about the accessibility of the bathrooms, though. Besides booths and tables, there is a counter with about eight stools.

Not only is the "standard" menu amazing and varied but there are also always a lot of specials to peruse. The hardest part is deciding what to order. Don't worry: I don't think there's a bad choice. Today I opted for the Monte cristo. Yum!! Perfect blend of sweet and savory. Coffee cup never runs dry - always appreciated. Cash is preferred (and there is an ATM on site) but cards are accepted.

The place was absolutely mobbed with people and I was not quite sure how we were going to have time to eat prior to bowling. Our waitress (and it kills me that I can't remember her name) was fantastic. She recognized the urgency of our situation and worked at lightning speed to get us our meal and then followed up with us numerous times as we moved to the bowling event. She was absolutely perfect! The food was excellent. Bowling was a blast..... candle pin bowling is so much more difficult than it looks, though! About half way through our game, our lane experienced a fatal mechanical problem. This bowling alley is an historic gem and the machinery that runs the lanes is definitely "old school". Ownership was very accommodating and gave us a gift certificate to come back and bowl again another time. These guys definitely have a winning combination here.... good food, great service and a genuine commitment to its success. Well done!! Can't wait to go back,

They definitely went all in on the art deco, silent film, "obscura" theme. Another plus, they offer an "inclusive" menu which included many vegetarian items, they and according to the menu, many sandwiches and other items can be made vegan for a $2 up charge. We ordered food at the bar because it seemed like the thing to do as the bar tender was the only visible person working there when we walked in. An aside, the place was virtually empty at 5 pm on a Friday. I think there was one woman there when we arrived and a couple came in before we left. The other good news is that the bartender was willing to answer questions about menu items and took our food order promptly. The disappointing things: the people who work there seemed indifferent about the film theme. As we walked up to the bar we asked what was playing and the bartender sort of shrugged and gave a general, "oh, it's several films played on a loop." (It appeared to be a Charlie Chaplin film and maybe a Laurel and Hardy short.) As we were walking out we spotted a Charlie McCarthy doll and asked an older gentleman standing behind the bar in the back, eating pizza if it was Charlie McCarthy. He looked back and also sort of shrugged. I had the garden salad that was fair at best. It was mostly lettuce with some very small pieces of bell pepper, and one or two pieces of tomato and cucumber ($13). We also had the Piccadilly sandwich, made vegan, which I understand was very good. Overall, I'd say this place has a lot of potential but some work to do. I really liked the menu and maybe just ordered something that wasn't great. Also, if you're going to go all in on a theme, the people working there should be prepared to make a comment or two about it. I wish this place well but am not sure that I would go back to Obscura.
