Definitely check this place out if you are in Lewiston, they have housemade syrups for their coffee drinks, housemade bagels, and cream cheese. I would come back and try more things here. The service was fast and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of seating inside and it's a cool vibe inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of open space and a brick wall in the back. Big windows too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 4 instead of 5 stars because I don't like my bagels too chewy but I'm no bagel expert and I enjoyed it enough to want to come back.

Ham, egg, and cheese on toasted everything with a cold brew

I hadn't encountered an everything bagel with caraway seeds before ordering a ham egg and cheese on a quiet Friday morning but I now think that it would be improper to refer to a bagel as "everything" without them. I was impressed by the crunch of my bagel, which held up despite a drippy egg conundrum, and is likely a result of the wood-fired brick oven used in the baking process. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I spent a pleasant breakfast hour reading and enjoying the ambiance (including music) here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Had a quick little visit to Forage Market after leaving a dentist appointment near by. This is such a cute little shop. I was craving the cinnamon dolce latte they had for their drink special but due to being pregnant, I try to limit my caffeine intake. The kind woman working was able to make a variation of the drink with half decaf and half regular coffee for me. It was delicious-- not overly sweet at all with the perfect amount of the cinnamon dolce syrup. I wish the market had a bit more options for their lunch menu (only saw a BLT) but I believe it is just limited menu due to Covid currently. (I assume it's the same reason behind there being no indoor seating as well.) Overall, my first experience to Forage was great. Super friendly and accommodating staff in addition to a warm and tasty beverage. A great spot in downtown lewiston.

First visit here and I was very impressed. The restaurant is well set up for sidewalk sales with lots of COVID precautions in place. The staff was friendly and service was prompt. I ordered a lox bagel with a sesame bagel and it was fantastic. The bagel was chewy and dense with tons of sesame seeds... just the way I like it. I hate sesame bagels with a skimpy amount of seeds. The lox was from Browne Trading and it was decadent. Add in onions, tomatoes and greens and it was heavenly. Definitely a bit on the expensive side but definitely worth it. I am already looking forward to my next visit!

Bought the last seven plain bagels from Forage this morning. Was warned they were "a little blistered," but was surprised when we got home and found them inedible, burnt and basically destroyed. I worked as a bagel baker in my youth, and I never would have given these to a customer. I would have been ashamed.

I grew up in Lewiston (1970s-80s) and remember when no sandwich shop even close to the likes of Forage existed on Lisbon Street, so I was eager to try it. The atmosphere in Forage is spacious and very relaxed. It's a bit funky, with local art on the walls and all the vintage ('40s and '50s) tables and chairs different from each other. Big windows face two beautiful mosaics across the street, created (2019) in homage to artist Marsden Hartley. The late-19th-century tin ceiling has been preserved. The restroom is attractive and well-maintained. I ordered the smoked whitefish salad sandwich on 7-grain bread. It included very fresh greens, pickled onion, and tomato. A delicious combination! The amount of whitefish was scant but still flavorful enough to make it a real treat. I would order it again. I believe it cost $8 or $8.50 (no sides). My mom ordered a build-your-own bagel (starts at $2.95) with a once-over-easy egg ($1.50), fakin' bacon ($2.75), avocado ($2.00), and one slice of tomato ($1.00). I'll do the math for you and tell you that the total for this BYO bagel was $10.20 (!!). The bagel itself was tasty but incredibly chewy -- distractingly so (As the ingredients spilled out the bagel's sides and she wrestled to take a successful bite, Mom said, "This would *not* be a good first-date sandwich..."). The real turn-off, however (and the reason I have given Forage a two-star review instead of four stars), was that the fakin' bacon and the egg were served very burned -- the fakin' bacon was burnt to a solid-black crisp (I had a sample bite and then picked all the burned bits off for my mom). It is amazing to me that whoever made the sandwich served it this way; if you'd asked them, I am *sure* they would not have eaten it themselves. Was it because it was 2:30 pm and they close at 3:00 pm? No excuses. It's carelessness, for sure. And for $10.20? Wow. Bad news. It makes me not want to go back. Mom's not going back either, and she's the local.

The best wood fired bagels this side of Montreal. The texture is slight crispy in the outside and perfectly chewy on the inside. Can't wait to try the other nevi items. Forage is a hidden gem ! Why didn't we dine here before? Now we are in the know :)

We love the Kennebec breakfast sandwich and the lemon blueberry scones. The kids love the giant chocolate chip cookies. I love ordering through the app, because it gives you the opportunity to earn points that you can use toward future purchases. Note, you can't order pastries or cookies etc through the app - the stock changes too frequently to be able to post those. The staff at this location were very nice and I saw the owner of the chain pop in and greet everyone with a smile. It was really nice - like seeing a superstar. We were there on Mother's day and so naturally it was busy around morning/brunch time. I placed an order 30 minutes in advance and stopped in right around the pick up time. I bought some offering while I was waiting. Special mother's day cookies and some of the regular offerings - chocolate chip cookies and lemon blueberry scones. The couple behind me placed a bagel sandwich order and their order was ready in about 10 minutes, which seemed really reasonable and amazing given how busy they were. I continued to watch in person orders being fulfilled. I stood and waited patiently. I inquired once and was told it would be a couple of minutes - this was shared with me even though he didn't actually check any of the slips or ask for my name. I waited. 20 minutes after my online order was estimated to be ready, they yell out, "Is anyone waiting for an online order" I raised my hand. The panicked look on his face when he saw me, showed that he knew, he sold me the baked goods when I walked in 30 minutes earlier....I had been patiently waiting for close to an hour for 2 breakfast sandwiches...just 2 sandwiches! He quickly started scrambling and said, it will be just a couple of minutes. At the same time he was yelling out if anyone knew how to shut off online ordering. I did finally get our sandwiches. 5 Stars for quality of products and they were nice at the register. They lost stars...because they weren't organized and weren't communicating with each other. They simply were hanging online tickets, seemingly deprioritizing them and focusing on filling in person orders. I was aggravated and disappointed as this is not service I have ever experienced with the Sunrise chain. Oakland is always amazing as is Waterville (arguably one of the busier restaurants). If you choose to come here, I would recommend ordering in person.

Let's start at the beginning- Just because the roll-down…read moredoor is closed doesn't mean the bagel shop is closed. That was my first error as I went by this place a handful of times. It's wasn't until I saw someone emerge from the double doors to the left of the roll-down that I realized that the business was open. Not that they need any help getting people inside (it was HOPPING) but a sandwich board outside perhaps would show that the business is open inside? I went in and immediately everyone was friendly and chipper. Ordering was simple enough but be prepared, they sell through some things, understandably as this place is very popular. I got an espresso and a toasted herb bagel with plain cream cheese. Ive been all over Bath, Brunswick, Rockland, and Camden and was convinced that the New Englander's palates were shot. Not a single business has served me a decent espresso. Not a single one until I stopped at Dutchman's. FINALLY a bright, clean shot that doesn't taste like someone put a cigar out in it. Everyone needs to take notes. THEN we get to the bagel....didn't think I was about to have the best bagel of my life, yet here I am. Light, toasted, slightly chewy but not heavy... jeez. Can we talk about the space? It's gorgeous. Airy, cool, industrial...but the people running it make it feel homey. We can talk about the restaurant they're putting in next door too but let's be realistic, if they use any of the blueprint they're currently operating off of, they're not going to have any issues (Omg the pizza oven!) The view alone will stop you in your tracks. I'm all in on Dutchman's. I bought the merch. I have a tee shirt and a beanie and the only reason I don't have a hoodie is because they were sold out in my size. What else is there to say... 10/10 No notes.

As soon as I walked up I was bummed to see they had no egg or cheese, which is what I was planning to order. Instead, I went with the Turkey Lurkey. It's not something I'd typically order but it was delicious. It was a bit messy so eating it in the car was a mistake lol. I also got a cold brew coffee. My order was $17 for those two things, which is expensive, but the quality of the food and coffee was very good and I'd much rather give my money to this business than a large corporation like Starbucks. I saw another review give 3 stars because they are comparing their bagels to NY/NJ style bagels. I'm originally from NJ, and yes I prefer those style bagels, but that is NOT what Dutchman's is going for. These are Wood-Fired bagels, and yes they do have a more bread like texture but I thought they were delicious and made for perfect sandwich bagels. I went on a Thursday morning and there was no line so service was quick. I was in and out in about 10 mins.

Luckily, there were only about five people ahead of us, and the line moved quickly. The person taking our order immediately made us feel welcome. Even with a busy morning crowd, they took their time with everyone and treated each customer like they were the only one there. That kind of genuine friendliness is something you don't forget. The atmosphere is unlike any coffee shop I've been to. Every wall has something different to look at, quirky artwork, funny signs, vintage pieces, random collectibles, a mannequin dressed in sunglasses and boots, even a life-size Tom Cruise hanging out on the patio. I found myself constantly looking around because there was something interesting in every direction. One of my favorite touches was the self-serve coffee station. You grab a mug from the wall instead of a paper cup. I picked one with a cool Abraham Lincoln wearing a backwards baseball cap while sipping coffee, which perfectly matched the café's fun personality. There were several coffee choices, and I ended up trying two. Refills are available for a small fee. For breakfast, I ordered one of their brioche breakfast sandwiches with the meat of the day, which was brisket. The brisket was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the soft brioche bun. I also ordered a toasted jalapeño bagel with jalapeño shmear. It comes sprinkled with Tajín but got mine on the side. While I usually enjoy Tajín, it was just a little much for me first thing in the morning, so next time I'd ask for it without. The jalapeño shmear itself was delicious. After eating, we took our coffee outside to enjoy the patio. The colorful mural covering the building, beautiful flower pots, and relaxed seating made it a great place to sit and slow down for a while. Dog Bar Jim isn't just a place to grab breakfast, it's one of those places with real personality. Great food, excellent coffee, genuinely kind service, and an atmosphere that's fun, creative, and impossible to forget. If you're anywhere near Brunswick, it's absolutely worth the stop.
