Fran's Restaurant is a small and collective facility that was well lit and offered appropriately 15 tables. The waitress was welcoming and efficient with her guests. She stopped by several times to take the drink order, food order, and a few other times during our visit to ensure we were content. The food, oh the food.... Much of the food was mediocre at best. The food was presented on a mix of plates, cups, and bowls (this is a cool touch). The majority of the food was colorless and dried out. The waffle appeared remnants of a meal made earlier or freezer burnt and lamely rewarded. The Oatmeal was clearly out of a warming pot and lacked any texture and appeared as a warm paste. The toast was the best part of my dates meal dressed up with butter and jams. As for me, the best part was the freshly fried eggs and locally procured sausages. read more

This Diner reminds me of when the farmers would go for breakfast and stop in for a wholesome meal. Its quite cozy and the service is very Everything was excellent. They use fresh ingredients. That's a big deal for me. There was fresh Spinach in my omelette and that was a very nice surprise. Nothing was greasy. The Mailhots were quite tasty, and the home fries were also impressive. Fran's is everything I look for in a breakfast diner! Off the beaten path, recommended by regulars, small and quaint. There was one server with the assistance of a host (who brought us our drinks) and it was a great casual experience. We were seated quickly, didn't have to wait a long time before ordering, and received our food in a reasonable time as well. One of my favorite parts was the available options for coffee creamers! (Something you don't see very often at other restaurants.) They had a coffee mate Ego Waffle creamer that has since became my husband's favorite. I ordered the Greek omelette and it was a great size and delicious tasting. The fruit bowl was the best I've had at any local breakfast restaurant with a selection of fruit that people actually want to eat (no honeydew melon, lol!) My husband and I ate a late breakfast at this charming place today. He had the biscuits and sausage gravy with fried egg and potato hash. The gravy was honestly the best I've ever tasted, and we've traveled extensively in the South. I had a mushroom Swiss burger. It was delicious. Honestly, I found this place because it seemed like the only decent place with breakfast items, and I'm SO glad I went there! It's such a gem!! My boyfriend and I got eggs Benedict (he got it with sausage, and I got the Florentine and added ham because I couldn't decide) and they were THE BEST EGGS BENEDICT I've had in I don't even know how long! Service was quick, personable and genuine cared about your experience. And the decor was so darn adorable! The plates and decorations seemed like they were straight out of someone's home, definitely showed some personality!! I'm going to be there every weekend from now on. BEWARE: OWNER HAS ATTITUDE. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. EAT ELSEWHERE. We were at Fran's this morning 1/9/21. I ordered a waffle with chicken and a special crem-de-le sauce off the menu. I was not told the restaurant no longer served the sauce. The order arrived. I explained there was no sauce, that I would have ordered something else, was I told. I was then told by the server, about 12" from my face ,"Listen here. We're too busy and I don't have time for this." I said "I'll be leaving then and won't be paying for our meal." The other customers were in shock and disbelief too! We called 20 minutes later to speak to the owner. Can you believe, it was our server! She said, "I stand by my decision.". Then hung up on us. To have a customer give you the opportunity to correct the issue multiple times and you choose to ignore them. Then hang up without saying Good Bye or anything. GO ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

Always a different special on the board and very LGBTQ friendly. The bathroom is a single stall unisex with a sharps container for those that require insulin. Looking on Yelp after being away from Lewiston for 30 years, I decided that Lewiston deserved some more reviews for breakfast. Located on Lisbon St, in the Westminster Mall, Frans place has been around for a while. They serve breakfast all day. I was pleased to find a breakfast option with veggies--the veggie 3-egg omelette. You can choose your own veggies from onion, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, and 3 types of cheeses. They have your regular breakfast diner options as well. If you want a French Canadian specialty, order the home made Creton (a mixture of pork and spices) to spread on your toast. Now, for those in Maine, I don't know what they think about the prices. But if you are from out of state, this place is a steal! The potatoes were a bit salty for my taste (they appeared to be seasoned with "seasoned salt" and I am a sea salt fan.)but many people must like them. The potatoes are home made so I recommend asking for them with no seasoning. I also glimpsed Mts. Dash seasonings in the waitress station so you could also ask for that. Now,normally, you'll want to order a plain toast or english muffin for your Creton but they were fine on the cinnamon raisin too. The restaurant seats 30 on one side of the restaurant. If you want fruit, your options are limited: juice or blueberry or strawberry sauce on your crepes or Belgian waffles or pancakes. The service was excellent and my good decaf Coffee was great. I ordered a blueberry muffin which was warm and good. Apparently , you can order the muffin grilled or just warmed. It is worth mentioning that they do take credit cards. Do NOT laugh-- many grill type places in Lewiston only take cash. They also serve lunch and supper until about 7 or so and that includes green salads. read more

Frans has decent breakfast food. Large portions and friendly staff. My husband and I had the omelette special and the girls had crepes. All were tasty. Clearly a devoted regular customer base. Went to Fran's on a Sunday morning in May, 2013, and while it wasn't a horrible experience, there were pros and cons. Pros: -Most of our food was very, very good - eggs, sausage, lobster benedict were all quite delicious. Coffee was fresh and good tasting (not sure which brand they use). -Prices are quite decent, a party of two could easily spend less than $20 for a good breakfast. Cons: -Blueberry pancake was lacking in blueberry flavor. You could see plenty of blueberries, but it didn't taste like there were any blueberries in it. Not sure what happened, but it missed the mark. -Our server looked like she was rather new. When my wife ordered lobster benedict, the server just stared at her as if she was supposed to say something else, and we weren't sure what she needed to know. Turns out, she was going to ask if my wife wanted her home fries crispy or soft (something we've never been asked before at any breakfast establishment). When I asked for a side of toast with my meal, the server didn't give me the choices of bread, just simply asked me what I wanted. This is Waitressing 101, give the different options to the customer. -Seating was very cramped. Yes, it is a small place and I'm sure they want to try to squeeze in as many people as possible to avoid waiting times, but we felt very squished in our place. The other weird seating thing is that we were a party of two, but even though there were several tables for 2 available, we were given a table for 4. I didn't get it at the time (and still don't). We will most likely be back (we don't live far away), but if this place really wants to be terrific, there are a few things it could do to improve. read more
