First time to this Duck Donuts and my experience was not pleasant. I walk in about half an hour before closing and I walk up to the counter and me and my friend are looking at the book to see what kind of donuts we want. While this is going on "Logan" the cashier doesn't greet us he just starts punching in what we are saying so I had to tell him to hold off because we were just browsing through the book real quick. It was my friends first time and she wasn't sure what she wanted. There was no one behind us so it's not like we were holding up the line. Anyways..we finally choose our donuts and I take a $50 out to pay and he charges us and then says oh we don't accept $50 bills so I look at him like okayyy this is my only type of payment as of right now and he says well let me cancel your order and throws the $50 back and whole time I'm thinking he's going to find a solution to the fact that I only had a $50 bill and the he just blank stared at us like "oh well" and I was like well ? And he just says we don't accept $50 bills and points to some small ass sign at the next cash register like how the hell am I suppose to know. Anyways I finally take my CC out and pay. I sit down and I'm watching him work and this dude is literally talking to his coworker like she is crap and I'm just like dude. This kid has a SERIOUS NASTY attitude problem and shouldn't be working in any type of establishment with that attitude. I know it was almost closing time and understand how frustrating it could be but that's part of the job honey. If you don't like it than quit. Anyways, donuts were bomb though. read more

Tried Duck Donuts for the first time and they were really good when fresh. I thought it was cool to customize your own donuts with a variety of glazes and toppings. My favorite were the French Toast. In my honest opinion duck is overrated. The first time we tried them was earlier this year (June) in their Williamsburg location. They were extremely oily and just okay. The second time was this particular location a couple weeks ago. They're still oily (not as bad) and I just don't like their chocolate at all. It's actually kind of gross. Maybe if they left them in longer or had the oil a bit hotter to give the outside a slightly crispy exterior and if they would revamp their chocolate or maybe come up with an actual chocolate cake donut I'd give them a try again. The employees are extremely friendly and the turn around time is fast but if I'm being honest I believe Wegmans and WaWa offer better cake donuts. If you like a good yeast donut you should give Sugar Shack a try in Alexandria. read more

Overall good fresh donuts and wayyyyyyyy better than Dunkin Donuts which is not hard to beat. I'll be glad when the lines die down since it take about 10 minutes sometimes to get your order finished. PRO'S: These are super tasty little simple but filling donuts. Please do get the Maple icing with Bacon, it is simply the BEST. I did also love the peanut butter iced with peanuts a whole bunch but that maple bacon was the bomb. It's expensive and niche. Nice to do once in a while, but as with anything that fatty-moderation is key. CON'S: The coffee is disgusting. I would really recommend that the owners read this and address the coffee issue. I am from the North East where we love our coffee and donuts (that means iced coffee in the warm months and hot coffee in the cold months) together. I ordered the iced coffee and some boy (could not have been older than 15 but looked more like 12) was confused but ultimately got if for me and not sure how long it sat there but it was ROUGH. My husband took a sip and about spit it out, it was terrible. We could not drink it (and I had loaded way more half/half and sugar than should have been allowed). Tasted like gasoline. The seating is quite limited and yet, I do think it's necessary to eat these donuts HOT and immediately, so that is kinda rough while they are so new and people are lining up for it, but I suspect when the excitement wears down we can get a seat to eat (and maybe a good coffee). My wife and I tried this place after I saw the reviews on Yelp. The doughnuts are fresh alright. I ordered chocolate and strawberry and my wife ordered orange and vanilla. When we got our doughnuts I sure could tell the chocolate one but the other three ALL looked like vanilla. I had to ask what was what and even one of the staff couldn't tell what was what. And the strawberry and orange TASTED like vanilla. They were very sweet, too sweet for my taste. I think I prefer dunking to this place. At Dunking Doughnuts the strawberry at least has a more strawberry taste and looks strawberry. The milk was good though! read more

Normally I am not a fan of cake donuts. However, these are hot, fresh, moist, and delicious donuts. You have your pick of glazes and toppings. I HIGHLY recommend the maple bacon flavor. We decided to try Duck Donuts on a whim on a Saturday afternoon. There was virtually no wait- we were in and out within four or five minutes. The donuts were very tasty, and I loved the variety of toppings. The customer service was great- everyone working there was very friendly. I have to admit they aren't the best donuts I have ever had, and I wouldn't wait more than 10 minutes if they had a long line. For a quick stop, though, it was a very tasty snack. We waited almost 40 minutes for our order. The people were nice who worked there but no one seemed to move very fast. There were only three or four other customers in the shop. Everyone seemed to be annoyed with the wait. I would understand if the line was out the door but no one was hardly there. I think it needs more adults working rather than teenagers. read more

I was never a donut lover until I ate these donuts. Yes they are like a little cake ..so if you love those rubbery, thick donuts then you might not love these. Anyway, I come here almost every weekend. I love that they are fresh and it tastes like a home made donut. This particular location is close to me, I have not been to any other duck stores, they have two tables there and I think they need to put one or two more tables. Staff here is very nice, every time I come here I see the kids who handle the food wear gloves like they are supposed to. Every now and then I encounter someone there who would give out a couple of free donuts some times. I am a fan! read more

I LOVED the donuts from Duck Donuts! I went in on Sunday morning this past Labor Day weekend, and let me tell you--it was packed. I was pretty annoyed that they only had one door, because the line was out the door and at the same time we were contesting with the people trying to leave. They made up for it in speedy, streamlined service and hot, crispy delicious donuts. We only took six home, but the Maple Bacon was fought over, as was the chocolate. They were a million steps above Dunkin Donuts, and they were just as good as our usual donut shop down in Duck, NC. Very happy :) read more

What I love is that you can sit there and watch your individual batch of donuts being made from batter to boxing.
