Two things made this place a little different. First was the Texas-sized donuts, quite large, like a small steering wheel on streetcar named Diabeetus. An assortment of flavors, from red velvet and sourdough, to cream filled. It was this latter where Texas stands out: they can fill it with a variety of fillings using a machine on every stoners wish list: it injects the donut with flavors. I got two chocolate glazed filled with Bavarian, and whitw creme, and a long john of Bavarian. The cream fillings were great, no trouble there. The donuts were.. different. Donuts have that progression, from air filled Krispy Kreme, to dense cake donuts, and used hockey pucks left over from 1987 Duncan Donuts. I like the airy kind, not so much as Krispy because that's too thin, but something with heft, but air pockets. Texas rides the line between pockets of air and density, and what it tasted like is that they had been airy at one point, but those pockets collapsed on themselves creating a hybrid airy/dense donut. Tasty, but not top of my list. That spot still belongs to Duck Donuts. It's possible the Texas donuts I had were sitting out a bit, or the creme filling caused a collapse of the internal donut structure. I'm not sure but I will go back to try the denser varieties to be sure. Very nice employees, calm and clean interior. I went very early in the morning so I was happy they were even open at 6 am. I went for a chocolate frosted and a croissant donut. The chocolate one was pretty standard but that croissant donut was AMAZING. I was mad I didn't get two so I could have one the next morning. I recently stumbled across the existence of Texas Donuts - so I wanted to check them out... I stopped in for breakfast: I ordered a Ham, Egg, and Cheese Croissant, a jalapeño-Cheddar Kolache, and a Maple-Bacon donut - to go. Paid with Apple Pay. Everything was tasty. This location was pretty good but has gone downhill in the past few months. I usually come in and order the croissant sandwich (either turkey or ham) and, of course...the donuts! The croissant sandwiches are really good here, but as of late, they just don't make them the same. Sometimes the sandwich is burnt, and sometimes its not. Somwtimes they put glaze on the sandwich, and sometimes they dont. I've ordered just egg white on my sandwich, but at this location, they said they dont do that there. Maybe it is under new management at this location. The service is still good, but they should go back to the way it was before because it was better than it is currently. read more

Not really a donut person, but I saw this place near the nail salon in the same area, and I couldn't resist I they have a great selection of the classic flavors of donuts, as well as specialty donuts which cost a bit more. I got a half dozen: 3 glazed donuts, 2 chocolate sprinkles, and 1 double chocolate donut. I ate a glazed donut before I took the photo because they looked soooo good! The donuts were so soft and perfect amount of sweetness to relieve my sweet tooth. I'm not in the area much but I think there's a Texas donuts near my house!!! Texas Donuts originates from, as the name states, Texas and has been around since '02; they then appeared in OK and in VA, and I'm glad that they are here! Besides an array of donuts, they also have croissant sandwiches, kolaches, bubble tea, and iced coffee. Get here early, as you'll be guaranteed to get a box of freshly-made fluffiness and more of a choice of their selection! I've tried their cheddar and the jalapeno cheddar sausage kolaches, and they were just okay; I do like their yeast donuts - the glazed ones are pillowy soft, fluffy, and has the perfect amount of glaze on it, and they are large in size, too! Pretty delicious! Staff has always been friendly, and you're usually in and out within minutes. First of all, we were greeted with the most friendly staff! She gave us a sample to try and was immediately sold. I got a cinnamon swirl bread twist and a chocolate doughnut. And milk, of course. My husband got a stuffed doughnut and a pastry of some kind. Everything tasted great! Someone entered around the same time as us, and it was obvious he was a regular. That's always a good sign in my mind! There are lots of items in the display case and plenty on the board. There was no seating inside that I could see, so it was definitely a grab and go situation! This place is hot or miss on the customer service. Sometimes they greet you, sometimes they don't. I was here yesterday and the Asian lady didn't even acknowledge me as I was the only one in line and she was making a coffee for a waiting customer. She just shuffled back and forth, looked at me, and kept shuffling and making the coffee. I ordered two dozen donuts online and when I get here I was 20 minutes last my pick up time and they didn't have my order ready. So if I came here on time to pick up, then I'd be waiting at least 30 minutes more past pick up time. I also noticed they reuse the same plastic glove. Yikes. read more

Great shop with friendly faces. We came early this morning with our small daughter. The donuts were delicious and fresh and they had a great selection of drinks from Starbucks to juice and boba tea. One of the ladies was kind enough to give our daughter some donut holes for free which I thought was very nice. You can't eat inside and everything was very clean! I was in the area for a doctor's appointment and saw this joint in the parking lot and it reminded me of all the social media hype I read about it, so I had to stop in. Upon entering, I noticed that they're still Covid-woke, as they are not allowing dine in and the staff was all wearing masks and it appears that because we weren't they were very curt with us. I did notice that they have a very nice selection of donuts and related pastries (some fried, some baked). They also had these sweet and spicy sausage rolls called a Kolache. We looked at the display case and started selecting our treats to take home... They have a very nice selection and it's rather abundant, even though the display case doesn't look that big. For instance, they had cinnamon in a typical yeast donut and in a sour cream style - so we got one of each! They also offered chocolate/chocolate cake donuts, which are my absolute fav! Their twist was huge, fresh and tasty! But the best was their croughnut... Wow, was that good!! I tried one of the kolaches as well and it was good... Slightly spicy, slightly sweet. I asked the young girl what the origin of it was and she said "Texas!" I ended up looking this up and found out it's huge in TX, but it's got a Czech origin. At first I didn't really give much thought about this donut store. I assumed it would be another type of Dunkin donuts quality store, but boy was I wrong. Unlike some donut establishments you can tell their donuts are not frozen and very fresh and moist. I do like sweets but not extremely sweet which was another key point in their donuts. I wish I had taken more pics before I devoured about a dozen of their donuts because it was so good. It is light and fluffy. I was favorably impressed with the variety and taste at Texas Donuts. I was also surprised by their large selection of pastries availble one hour before their closing time on a Friday afternoon. Large selection when you do the clock math. I only wanted a couple of the basic building blocks of any donut shop, a donut and a cinnamon roll. I bought and enjoyed both. They both tasted delicious, with plenty of sugar on the donut, and enough cinnamon on the cinnamon roll to mke it one. The cinnamon roll seemed a normal size to me but the donut was a Texas size, or so it seemed. I was in the area so I cane back for the second time with intent on trying the iced coffee ( 4 different flavors on the menu to choose from) but instead I was enticed by the Taro Smoothie. It was good and not too sweet. Most significant was when the owner or manager handed me a small bag of donut holes - complimentary, which I did not expect. I wanted to get cronuts today too but they are sold out or will not be available because they ran out of the ingredients. And for that "slight inconvenience" I was pleasantly surprised of the nice gesture by the complimentary donut holes. They were slightly sweeter for my taste but maybe just right for most but nonetheless appreciated the thought and nice gesture! They simply cared about me as a customer so, yeah, definitely will be back for cronuts another time and try an iced coffee too next time. I highly recommend this place for customer service tops!!! I called to ask if they have cronuts for I was craving original NY cronut and male staff was super nice to hold a couple for me and said he only had 3 left and this was at 1pm! Because I had called, 2 cronuts were already packed for me and I just needed to pay and it was quick and easy checkout! I was in the store less than 5 minutes! The cronut, which costs $2.09, had a really nice texture of cross consistency of croissants and donuts and larger than their average donuts at $1! Taste wise it was a bit sweet and probably will be better with less sprinkled sugar. The density was perfect just like I had hoped and texture was perfect! A great place for a morning meal. The Texas donut franchise started in Texas (what a surprise there), then opened stores in Texas, and currently has stores, like this one, in Virginia. The franchise started in 2002 and there are currently stores in Lorton, Manassas, and Centreville, This store is located at the southern corner of Sudley Manor Drive and Ashton Ave. It is on the corner of a small group of stores facing Ashton Ave. There is plenty of parking in front of this store or the adjacent stores. The store is long and thin with a counter with donuts, kalaches, and sandwiches. Coffee and tea are available on a self-serve basis by the front door. The staff was very friendly and took our order as soon as we were ready. I ordered an egg croissant sandwich and it was one of the best I have had. The price for the sandwich was very reasonable at about $4. There are about three 2-person round tables against the window opposite the counter and next to the entrance along with a low counter with some chairs. While it's very good and interesting, love the fact that it's not overwhelmingly sweet like Kryspy Kreme...also loved the texture of the croughnut (crispy outside and soft/chewy inside)... I've been looking all over for a decent sugar donut since shoppers closed... I found it here. Their sugar donuts are texture wise outstanding - not too heavy, not too oily. The sugar ones are rolled in granulated sugar and cinnamon. And they are COATED in it. Other places around here that make sugar donuts don't put enough sugar on them, but Texas does. I had a bite of my kid's glazed donut and it was literally melt in your mouth. I've never had a donut quite like that, and it was delicious!!! Highly recommend this place!! read more

When people ask me what makes donuts so special in the state of Texas - I have a hard time describing what they are missing. Well now that I've found this gem of a place, I can just send them here! The donuts are light and fluffy and PERFECT. Not fancy but really yummy melt in your mouth donuts. The bonus is that they have true Texas kolaches too. These donuts aren't going to cost you a lot but you're going to be craving their goodness. They have some flavors for the donut lovers who like crazy combos but I prefer the old school plain glazed and donut holes! YUMMY! I wish I lived closer than the 30 minute drive! Texas rocks donuts. Small local chain that bakes some insane crullers, 'cronuts' (the size of a tire), eclairs and Texas-size and regular glazed. Taisha at the counter was sweet, she totally made my day! Very helpful and polite. These donuts are tasty; worthy of a second Civil War: they do not have that metallic, machine-like after taste that some Krispy Kremes have. All in all a wide open - cool - breakfast joint.
