So I'll start off by saying that the shop is very cute, there is rubber duckies all over with different themes. We ordered a sausage egg and cheese on a donut, a maple bacon and the chocolate coconut bliss donut. Been hearing about this place for a while so with this free time that I have lately I've been venturing out a bit further than normal. Since this was my first time I ordered half a dozen of different flavors that I thought sounded interesting. Glad I did too because it gave me a chance to try a few different ones because it's so hard to choose. The cashier was super patient and very nice. If you ever been to a Duck Donuts then you know what it is. I love the crunchy outside and soft inside... it's fresh and warm, what a treat! The biggest obstacle is parking. DD is in a small strip shared with Mission BBQ and other stores that will be opening up soon, so if parking is already an issue it will be a bigger one once all the stores are up and running. The inside is a bit cramp but there were plenty of employees on staff to keep the line moving. The donuts are all the same price no matter how you customize your donuts. Went to the eye doctor, left there to get dinner, right next door to dinner was a Duck Donuts! Needless to say, I just couldn't pass up dessert to go along with that dinner! I don't typically do this, but last night I made a run 10 minutes before closing time. Not once did I feel like a burden for placing an order as they were closing up. We were referred to this location because they just started offering vegan-friendly donuts every third week of the month. We came on the first morning they offered and they seem to be a hit. They prepare the vegan donuts separately from the regular donuts, so they do take a little longer to prepare. But as far as taste goes, they are delicious and you can't tell the difference. When I arrived today, there were at least 45 people assembled in a horseshoe-shaped line with very little room remaining unless you needed to use the restroom at the back end of the shop. The General Manager was present and planted himself behind the two registers which allowed him to see the entire donut operation from sale to pickup. It was obvious that Duck Donuts put some thought into the store design and team assignments because the whole experience took 10 minutes from beginning to end. They were gettin' it done! I went here for the first time today on my way home from work. I've had duck donuts before, I'd just never been inside the location before. The inside of Duck Donuts is bright and colorful, very clean, and easy to navigate. At the register they have a booklet with all their donut flavors on it so it's easy to decide which donuts you want to order. I got a dozen assorted donuts of my choice and then I walked to the other end of the counter while they got made. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they make the donuts fresh to order and then decorate them right in front of you. While I waited, an older man (I'm guessing the manager) came over to talk to me and told me about how they can deliver through OrderUp, you can order online ahead of time so they'll be ready when you arrive, and they also have started doing donut orders for a donut tower at a wedding. When I got my donuts, the young man who had made them let me inspect them before he put the lid on the box. And as soon as I got home I ate the maple bacon donut and it was delicious. Whoever decided to build this new Chesapeake location was a genius! It wasn't busy or crowded but had business going in and out. That just tells me one thing; they are quick. I love Duck Donuts and have been to multiple locations. This one did not fall short of the delicious taste and accurate order! Giving only 4 stars for a couple reasons. I went at about 7pm on Saturday night, it was very packed but the line moved fast. However it seemed as though some of the staff were moving a little slow, no pep in their step to move through orders. They were very nice but as they were mopping during this time there was just a lot of laughter and talking which made me irritated as I stood there waiting and watching. The coffee I got was barely warm, so I had to gulp some down and fill it up with another kind so it would be hot. Additionally the lids did not fit on the cups. When we asked one of the girls she just told us they accidentally ordered the wrong size. Regardless, my donuts were great as always. read more
