I've been trying to get to this place two times in the last week. There was a traffic accident so I didn't get there but I made it Saturday. Quaint place. The donut was good but that sugar free vanilla bean latte was fabulous. Sometimes the syrup upsets my stomach but the sugar free was PERFECT. In the last four years, I have watched as this business has depleted. I hadn't been there in a while, but I always remembered how delicious the place smelled and the donuts tasted. This morning that was not the case. My donut was crunchy and was nothing of what I remembered it once was. I did notice that there was a now hiring sign. However, the overall store appearance is starting to show signs of aging. Although it looks clean, it looks very worn out. Even the things to purchase area looks thin to little product. We were greeted as we come in. The staff was friendly and explained to us what they have, as this is our first time. Service wise, 4 stars. Amazing Glazed is like a coffee shop... there are donuts, coffee, latte, ice cream. There are a few tables to dine in as well. As for the donuts, it's a pass for me. Don't like the texture of the donuts. The lady behind the counter told us it's fresh made, but it's not warm. The toppings are good. This place is nestled in a quiet, not so traveled area of Chesapeake. It is small but has a lot to offer. They have candles (chocolates), ice cream and DONUTS! These donuts are not like Krispy Kreme donuts. They are cake donuts. They make them to order, but they are not piping hot. I would say that was my biggest disappointment. The staff is friendly and polite. The lace is clean. The donuts can be completely customizable which can get a bit overwhelming if you're not a donut connoisseur. They have different flavors of donuts and a 100 million ways to make them with a variety of toppings and glazes. I would recommend them, but I took my donuts home and put them in the oven at 170 to keep them warm. We had a few leftover the next morning and they were not good reheated. Well, my first donut there was beyond good -SO when my Dear Sister was about to go out for a donut I recommended Amazing Glazed... I regret steering my sister that way because she was ignored in their nearly empty store where hardly any business was occurring, wasn't greeted even when the person on duty could break away from her casual conversation with the only customer seated to say hello. Her ONLY real interest of the day was to get a trump campaign sign from the box on the floor. She had little interest in helping my Sister order donuts from their donut store. (No chain/franchise) If you are unfamiliar with Chesapeake, you might miss the shop. They have little stepstools for the little ones to watch the donuts being made. They have a menu board, but you can customize the donuts to whatever you like. They have flavors of the seasons: Sometimes apple cider, sometimes chocolate. I've never had anything I didn't like. I was on my way to the gym to work out, and I had a sore throat, so I thought, let me find a place to get a cup of warm tea. I drove down the street to this little spot. I have been here before but just to deliver food, so I never really paid attention to much when I would come. This place is lovely . Although I only ordered breakfast tea, this place is a doughnut lovers paradise. I skimmed the menu while I was waiting for my tea, and I swear they have every flavor of donut you can imagine! The decor is cute they typical decoration and art for a donut spot. It's very personable and the lady that made my tea was so sweet to me. She suggested honey in my tea since I told her I had a sore throat, and I just added a little lemon juice later to it. The staff was friendly, and it felt like a family business. I have visited five delicious donut stores from Chesapeake to Norfolk to Smithfield, and AG is my favorite--so far. AG is similar to other popular shops these days: they make a plain vanilla donut, and then you get to add your icing, topping, and glaze. A little bit different compared to others, they offer two flavors each day (vanilla and blueberry that particular day). They also have gelato and frozen custard. There are 3 reasons why I pick AG as the Best Donut Shop in HR: 1) Customer Service- They get top marks for friendliness, and that's important to me. The staff explained the process, the food came out quickly, and everything was done with a smile. 5* 2) Ambiance- Their store is roomy, cheerful, and made me want to stay. While another donut store probably gets higher marks for décor, AG still is a winner because of the staff. 4* 3) Taste- That first bite of donut gave me a foodgasm. Do I need to continue? Yes, the cream cheese icing sprinkled with dark chocolate shavings, and a drizzle of raspberry glaze all made that donut outstanding. But the real winner was the plain vanilla donut. AG's donuts are so moist, and the texture is amazing. When I took that first bite, my tongue said, "Are you serious?" Yup. I'm serious. That donut was that good. 5* Unfortunately (or maybe that's a fortunate thing), AG is located in Great Bridge area in Chesapeake, and I don't go over there too often. The only ones we didn't like were churro and birthday cake. Only because the cream was extremely sweet for us. The rest were delicious. They cook the donuts fresh so they're hot. I mentioned it to my neighbor later after I got home, who said they post on social media regularly about their strong political views with their business name.
