This is really 4.5 stars, without a doubt the best doughnuts in Long Island. We have been to the location in Hauppauge as well. The doughnuts are baked fresh immediately after ordering and you can definitely tell when you cram them uncontrollably into your face. They just melt in your mouth and feed your sugar enslavement. We had gotten a dozen of pretty much every flavor. Finding one I didn't like was a complete failure. Not that I ate them all myself, although I wouldn't have minded. About $27 for a dozen, which I felt was quite reasonable. They don't taste overly sweet and could easily be passed off as something baked at home. My cousins live in Virginia and a few years back they took me to their new doughnut shop, Duck Donuts. We all flipped, they were amazing doughnuts. I said to them, I wish Duck Donuts would come to Long Island. Ah.. One day. I drive by the location and see a Duck Donuts sign?? O.M.G.. Walking into the space, first off its packed solid. You can smell the freshly made doughnuts coming off the rack. While waiting on line, the owner comes out and gives us samples. She explains that she's from the area and her kids go to school here. That just gets me jazzed, a locally owned business. No faceless corporate chain, the owner is one of us. The doughnuts are simply amazing. Fresh, hot off the rack doughnuts. Not warm doughnuts, We're talking blow on them because they're that fresh. I ordered a vanilla glaze with oreo bits. My doughnut came in a single box. Man.. This is a messy treat, you want to get right in there and lean over type of doughnut. There is a menu with at least 20 different doughnut combinations. What I didn't notice was fruit filled and custard doughnuts. I think the doughnuts are all created equal and they're dipped in the different toppings. There are many coffee choices, from iced to hot and even lattes. I even noticed a breakfast menu? I couldn't wait to wake up this morning and sample a freshly made Duck Doughnut and a cuppa coffee. There's a greeter at the door with donut samples to taste as you wait. Lines move quickly. There are menus and order sheets at the front counter, this expedites your order. Lovely and unique donuts, a total sugar rush and dream come true. Many options to pick from, even build your own. cant go wrong with any of them. The coffees arent really coffee, basically a glass of milk. I wasnt able to drink mine, it was way too sweet but i guess thats what theyre going for. Theyre not as quite organized and they should be, the lines are extremely long and slow. Anthony helped us and during our conversation he asked us if we've ever tried one of their donuts hot.. we said no and he made us his favorite the ~French toast one~... I found their concept intriguing, and I gave them a visit the next time I was in their area. I bought three, and customized two of them as follows: Peanut Butter Paradise Chocolate w/Toffee Crunch & Hot Fudge drizzle Peanut Butter w/Oreos and Hot Fudge drizzle I admire the interesting concept of serving warm donuts made to order. Even so, I wasn't completely blown away by them, which is actually what I expected. The peanut butter flavor was not as pronounced as I thought it should be, and the chocolate was just ok. Nonetheless, they're definitely better than the freshest Dunkin donut, and for a premium donut product the prices are rather reasonable on a per donut basis. read more

YOU don't get to actually do the work - THEY do it from behind the counter. YOU just tell them what exactly you want on your donuts. They have a lot of toppings... all ooey, gooey and sweet. Flavors and types galore. FYI ... the donuts are all cake, with many, many flavors, but no yeast donuts if that be your thing. We were here during the holiday season, so they had a wonderful holiday assortment of colors, flavors and decorations specifically for Christmas, and even for Chanukah..... equal opportunity donuts !! There were 5 of us, 4 of whom ordered a nice assortment (I was not one of them, however.) Unfortunately, I have no memory of what everyone ordered since I didn't participate in the ordering. My husband seems to recall that they ordered a S'Mores, something with strawberry icing, the lemon icing with raspberry drizzle that I tried (or was it blueberry, I just don't recall), another with peanut butter and oreo cookie crumbles. I know they had more in the box, but I couldn't tell you the flavors or toppings of the remainder. I did have one bite, so I can say I at least tried it. My issue is that across the board, I just don't like eating fried dough... but yes, it smells heavenly. Plus, of the two donut types...... cake versus yeast donuts, if I were to eat any, it'd be yeast donuts first. I certainly don't fault Duck Donuts for only baking cake donuts. It's not their problem that I don't like them. However, with all that being said, the one bite I took of their donut was extremely fresh, and the flavors were all on point. I haven't been here yet (and I will update once I get the donuts) but the person that answered the phone was excellent. I called to find out if The store was open and till what time. Even before I said 'hello' she answered those questions. Also she directed me to online ordering via their app and website. This place has got their ducks in a row!! The store itself is quite large for a donut shop, not what I was expecting. There was actually some room! We were here on Sunday and were able to go straight to the counter. There is a pretty massive selection of "pre-made" choices as well as the custom options. I would recommend looking at this beforehand if its your first time here and your coming during a busy time. Luckily for us, the line started to form about 5 minutes after we received our donuts. I had an iced latte which was very good, and we ordered 8 donuts (obviously had to eat 2 while we were there, and take some home). Everything was spectacular! The warm fresh donuts were AMAZING and almost tasted like something from a carnival? They really have an excellent product here, and I appreciate the simplicity of a glaze and simple toppings. We ordered a whole selection and everything was fab. My favorite was the chocolate with coconut and caramel. Drool.
