I know I'm a bit slow but I finally got to check this place out! To be honest, I'm not really a donut person but I went in to get a couple for someone else. I loved that you can customize your own donut and the price is very reasonable. Each donut is made to order and warm. The smell is so intoxicating. Beautifully made donuts and tastes amazing too. We just asked for random dozen and originally we were supposed to share with some fam members but ended up eating them all between the 4 of us. Tells ya about how much we liked it. The dough consistency is like a cross between a cake, churro and doghnut. So its nothing like a crispy creme. Toppings were done fresh. Glad we got some on our east coast visit. read more

First time here and I must say they live up to the hype especially with the famous maple, bacon donut. It was moist and flavorful. I also got one strawberry lemonade which was tasty but the cinnamon sugar with peanut butter drizzle was my least favorite. The donut itself was fresh and moist but the topping didn't seem to have much seasoning it tasted like plain sugar on a donut. The set up was pretty easy to figure out, the establishment was clean and staff was friendly answering all of our questions. I will definitely return as I think this has replaced Krispy Kreme for me . read more

I gave these donuts 5 stars at the battlefield location and here a 4 only because when we came to pick up our online order, we were given donuts that were clearly too hot to have had their toppings and icing added on. Although Duck Donuts are literally amazing, it was still disappointing and definitely not as good as they should have been since all the icing had melted off :( on the plus side though, I still happily enjoyed my donuts and scraped all the icing off the cardboard and dumped it back on top as best I could. Yum!!! read more

Let me start by saying that if you haven't been here, you're wrong! Duck donuts always out does themself. They not only make the donut in front you, but it's always delicious. They just came out with some new combinations. Personally I always let my eyes do the talking and order 6.... which turns out is too much for a single person. My favorite is obviously the maple bacon, who doesn't love the salty sweetness. They just made a new one that actually adds caramel drizzle and it is delicious. The price for it is not bad either. You can also purchase coffee or drinks. read more

We recently went to sugar shack and although duck donuts is a little drive for us I would rather drive to duck donuts than go down the street to sugar shack. These donuts are too good, honestly. They were hot and fresh, so I had to grab two. I love that I was greeted immediately after walking in. They have a wide variety of fillings and toppings. I got a glazed Oreo with chocolate drizzle and cinnamon sugar for under $3. This location is right off the beach and is very clean. They also had coffee and other beverages. We went here to let a relative try the donurs i got the maple bacon donut for my relative. We tried and I don't know if I like it as i dont like sweet and salty together. It was freshly made in front of us. The cashier was speaking softly so hard to hear with the something running in the background. Parking was a bit troublesome. It was my first time there. My husband and I just moved here and are big donut fans. Every one we met raved about duck donuts, so we decided to try them out. I like that you can put whatever you want on them. They were.warm and ready to eat as soon as they were done being made. They are cake donuts, which are not typically my favorite, but good nonetheless. The staff was super friendly as well. My name is Kim Adams and I am a donut addict. There, I've said it. I try to avoid them. Okay, I try not to eat them every day. I have a very strict donut approval list. Most donuts give me indigestion and yes, I know they are NOT good for me...but neither are all of the other things that taste wonderful in the world. Therefore, donuts are my choice of decadence. I do not smoke cigarettes. I do not drink alcohol. I do indulge in donuts. Therefore, I consider myself a bit of a donut expert. Krispy Kreme donuts taste like grease to me. Dunkin Donuts are very dry and all of them have the same aftertaste. Duck Donuts are definitely work quackin' about! I've tasted the chocolate, cinnamon, coconut, maple and lemon and my personal favorites, so far, are the cinnamon and chocolate. ALL of the Duck Donuts are cake donuts, made fresh as you wait, with a limited number of toppings. I am an extremely picky eater and I like things simple. I HATE sprinkles (they taste like plastic to me). Therefore, I love the simple and not overly sweet, warm cinnamon donuts the best. They melt in your mouth! Because they are cake donuts, they are filling but not heavy. Perfect with coffee or milk! The chocolate donuts are my 2nd favorite. The chocolate they use to ice the donuts taste like fudge. Yum! Not that artificial chocolate used on donuts sold by many donut chains. Yes, the Virginia Beach location is small. Yes, the parking is ridiculously small. Yes, it's always busy. However, it is well-staffed, well organized, and the staff is always friendly and happy to answer your questions. Samples are constantly placed on the counter for your tasting pleasure. Just walking into this place is an uplifting experience. Have you ever seen anyone frowning while tasting donuts? Not a chance! People are sitting around sharing donuts, laughing, smiling, standing and happily watching donuts being made, and excitedly selecting their donuts of choice...just having a duckin' good time! Do yourself a favor and get over to Duck Donuts and grab a half dozen or so. After you sample your first Duck Donut, send me a "Duck You!" message and let me know what you think! read more

I heard of this place through some coworkers that heard some buzz on Facebook. Anybody that has followed me knows I have been looking for non-big chain donut shops. I went on Thursday, but they were closed. So I went Friday morning, and they were so packed, I knew this was something special, but I also knew I wasn't waiting in that line. I went back mid-afternoon and was able to get a parking spot at the door. Lucky me! I was fully expecting this place to have a different variety of donuts. I didn't expect the same fried hot donut, but a variety of toppings! I was not amused, but I bought a half dozen anyway (2 maple, 2 chocolate & 2 chocolate w/ rainbow sprinkles) for me and the family. When I got home, I ate a maple and almost got back in my car to get another half dozen! These donuts blow KK & DD out of the water! I don't know how to explain it! No wonder everyone and their grandparents were hitting this place up on the first day! Best cake donut. Hands down. I ordered the 2 donut 1 coffee special and opted for a maple bacon and lemon icing. They have a really impressive maple icing and the bacon was nice and salty and sprinkled liberally over the whole donut. I haven't tried the lemon icing and may give it to my husband to try. We'll see. I am not the biggest supporter of the cake variety of donut but Duck Donuts had changed my mind. The dough is light and fluffy and it took 6 bites to finish the donut! That's how big they are. If I ever feel like I need a cake donut this will definitely be my go-to joint. read more

I love this place. The donuts come out hot, fresh and delicious. There is something for everyone. The last time I was here I had the cinnamon and sugar. I loved the way the cinnamon and sugar were perfectly blended together, as one did not overpower the other. There was crunch as I took my first bite of the sugar blend and then the softness of the center of the donut melted in my mouth. I've had other donuts from here and have never been disappointed. Can't wait to try them all. read more

I love the donuts.... But they are the same no matter which one you go to. I will not return to this location for one simple reason... They are stingy on the bacon topping and are rude about it when asked for more. I have had the maple bacon at several locations and the top is full of bacon. The last two times at this place there was hardly any bacon on it. The first time I questioned it they added a little more, but the second and LAST time the guys flat out said we can't, and I said ' really, there is hardly any on it" and cold and rude he just quipped, " we're not allowed" and turned away!!! The owners of this location need to go visit other locations and see what makes duck donuts great, cuz they are screwing up on keeping customers! read more

What a lovely place to go on a lovely day! Make sure you plan ahead because it's gets busy! Which is fine by me, I was greeted and helped tremendously by every employee and wasn't rushed when I couldn't decide between one or 21 donuts. A friend told me you must eat them while hot, so I did, while still delish I do love them after they have cooled. Different strokes for different folks! My all time fave is peanut butter with peanuts omg! Then the cinnamon toast. Ducks Donuts and I are besties. read more

First and foremost, the donuts are fantastic. You have to wait for them, because they are made to order, but that ensures that you get them warm. I tried peanut butter with peanut topping, and a chocolate iced donut. Both were completely fantastic. Definitely some of the best donuts I've ever had, particularly the peanut butter one. I docked one star because of the peanuts. This place is not allergy friendly in the least. The peanuts are stored in a bin directly above all the other toppings, and the workers haphazardly grab them. I don't see how they can even remotely guarantee you won't get stray peanuts in your box, much less any concern for general cross contamination. I also docked a star for the service. They just opened a few days ago and are clearly in high demand. I found out when I got there at 250 that they close at 3. I didn't get my donuts until about 310. The workers, including the manager/owner(?) were counting down the minutes until closing time. The girl taking orders tried to close at 255 but was told by the other workers she had to wait until 3. She then excitedly told her co-cashier that at 3 they "got to" go outside and tell people they were closed for the day. Then sure enough at 3, the guy that seemed to be in charge turned off the open sign and i watched him turn 4 people away, all between 3 and 3:06. Quite obviously the customers aren't important to them, ridiculous that you would stand there and turn multiple people away for being minutes late. The parking is also horrendous. They literally have 4 spots in front of the store. Once the donuts are room temperature, they are just too greasy to eat, so eat them quickly. Warm Donuts are worth it, everything else is pitiful. read more

I had heard of Duck Donuts since moving to the area and I started looking for my "go to" donut place. So, when they opened up here in VA Beach recently, I was anxious to see what the buzz was all about. If you know me at all, you know that I have found my donut home but I am open to trying new things and mixing it up from time to time (sorry PD!). So, today we stopped by after the kids got out of school to give this place a try. We arrived and filled out the form for our order. The line moved fairly quickly and the staff was all very nice to us as Duck Donut newbies. Once we placed the order, we waited for it to be filled. It wasn't a long wait and the donuts came out hot. I had to try the maple bacon and it was OK. The maple was too sweet for me and luckily the bacon balanced it out. Otherwise, as others stated, there was too much frosting for my taste. I actually liked the cinnamon sugar sample quite a bit because it was much lighter on the sweet topping. Next time (if there is one), I will stick with them. As of the writing of this review, we haven't eaten the rest of the dozen and plan to have them in the morning for breakfast. We'll see if they are a little better the next day. So, overall, this place didn't do it for me. Meh is more like it but I am bumping it up a star since I have a bias against cake donuts. They aren't my favorite. I am also bumping it up a star because of the service. We were treated very well by the staff and they had plenty of folks there making sure the orders were filled in a timely manner. I am not sure I'll be back but I admit that its probably a function of personal preference rather than quality of the product. If you are a fan, knock yourself out. I'll be in downtown Norfolk for my donut fix. read more

I LOVE THESE DONUTS!!!!! I went to Duck Donuts early this morning and I will most certainly be coming back! First off, as soon as you open the door you are greeted by almost every employee in the room. The entire environment is very friendly. Next, the two sweetest cashier's I have ever met helped me out, as I was a newbie. They we're both very happy and excited to give me some suggestions when they saw that I was lost. I ended up getting the french toast (suggested by the blonde) and a maple bacon (suggested by the brunette), and let me tell you, THEY COULD NOT HAVE GAVE BETTER SUGGESTIONS. Be sure to ask for the off menu options. The donuts were the greatest thing I have ever eaten, donut-wise. The french toast tastes exactly how it sounds, and the maple bacon, WOW. They were spot on saying it was breakfast on a donut, tastes just like pancakes and bacon! Which happens to be be favorite morning meal. So after the two lovely cashiers helped me, I got to watch as my donuts were made and topped right in front of my own eyes! That was super exciting, and it only took about 3 minutes from paying for them till they were in my hands. I ate them immediately. Today was my first visit to Duck Donuts! This place is AWESOME!!! This is my first review and I'm excited this is my first one. I've worked with the public my entire career and know good customer service when I get it, so I knew I had to give a HUGE shout out to this establishment. I was quickly acknowledged by an older blonde lady with a sweet southern accent, who was running the cash register! She was quick to explain the process to me, go over the MANY different options and tell me about the most popular ones. She was very friendly and sociable. Where so many people who work with the public every day get rude and just plain tired of dealing with the public. She was very refreshing and polite! So, I went with a variety pack: lemon, French toast, maple bacon and cinnamon sugar and man was I impressed! These little bites of heaven are AMAZING!!! I couldn't even wait to get back to my car before I had to try the lemon one. I was in Heaven!!! I had to thank the lady for her help and suggestions, because she was right! The lemon was the best donut, I've ever had. I used to be a die hard Krispy Kreme junky, but after the wonderful customer service and delicious donuts here.....I'll never go back to the KK. First off, I'd like to say, I loved the donuts. They we're fantastic and it did not take long at all. I came in this afternoon to get some donuts for the hubby and I. For starters, parking isn't great, but I over looked it. Everything was perfect. So why do am I rating it as only 2 stars? Well, simply because of the service I received from the employee who took my order. She was extremely rude in the first place. Not only could you hear her talking about non-work related things, they were vulgar. On top of that, she seemed very annoyed to take my order, like I interrupted her from just standing there. I'm usually not a judgmental person, but I for one do not like someone taking my order who has messy bright red hair and a dirty shirt. Just isn't professional at all. Had my service not have been what I'd consider borderline awful, I'd be giving 5 stars! I may or may not go back and try again. All in all, Duck Donuts is a great place, great food, and almost everyone was so nice and helpful. I loved being greeted as I walked in the door! So if you can get over 1. Parking, 2. I went in today to get a couple donuts. The donuts were great! The few employees who helped me were very nice, except for one. I hate to complain about somones work performance. But I feel something needs to be said about this employee. I think they should not have a rude girl on the register. When I go into a restaurant I expect the workers to have a professional appearance. I do not expect them to have hair that matches the hat they wear, with their hairs all over their shirt. But the girl who helped me just, was very rude, and didn't seem like she wanted to be there. I felt like I was being rushed to order and I felt very unwelcome in her line. Also they wipe their hands on dirty rags which isn't very appetizing. I would love to go back and try again... with a DIFFERENT cashier... I will definitely try again but if she is there, I will probably try my luck at a different donut shop. I know this is a fast food place, but some people genuinely don't belong in customer service. If you're in the mood for some donuts and coffee, I would recommend going anywhere else.
