My husband & I were in Virginia Beach from San Diego for medical reasons and we discovered the super customized and delicious donuts. It takes donuts to a new level. We walked out with 1/2 dozen donuts in these flavors: frosted with raspberry drizzle, regular glazed, peach tart frosted coconut, coffee cake, french toast and powdered. The service was great as we watched them make them all. It's not a regular stop in and eat store, which is what we wanted, but they do have a few stools and a counter top that faces the outside if you do want to get a coffee and a quick donut. I brought my girls down to pick up some donuts yesterday. We came earlier and there was a huge line but they had had someone call out. The staff was working hard. Once we ordered we were told it would be about 20 minutes but they had it done quicker than that. The donuts were amazing! My daughters commented some of the best I've ever had. And we had a good mix and everything which tasted great. It was kind of a typical shop so there wasn't anything special to the environment I thought. But it wasn't bad. Who doesn't love duck donuts?! They are amazing. This location is way too small for the amount of people that come to pick up donuts. They have one prep station for donuts and they are hustling like crazy to get orders to customers. They have online ordering as well so that would save the headache or waiting in a long line. The line was insane for 8am. We ordered a half dozen donuts. I really wish the cashier would have told me they were out of peaches when ordering. I felt on the spot when picking up to pick another flavor to replace my peach pie. I was bummed the only donut that was for me was peach. No such luck. Employees we friendly. We visited right when they open at 7 and that wasn't a great idea as there was a line so we returned in the afternoon around 1-much better. They ask you how many donuts you want right away so they can get them started as you decide on the flavors/toppings. A good amount of options so we took our time. We got a few varieties but Maple Bacon, Blueberry, Strawberry, Vanilla Coconut & S'mores were the ones that stood out. Very rich and "sugar rush" causing donuts! I truly cannot understand the hype as well as the high reviews they have. Obviously, I made it my business to come check this place out for its unbeatable reviews and I am not at all impressed. I couldn't even find one normal classic donut, everything is just too much, like cotton candy or bacon something that are way over the top. Apparently Duck donuts is a chain in Virginia. I recently discovered there's a few in North Carolina. The hubs and I decided on a quick trip to Virginia Beach for a walk on the boardwalk. Actually, it was to catch the sunrise and see the Neptune statue. The day before I had bookmarked Duck Donuts, but didn't think we would stop by. Well our walk off the boardwalk to shore shops ended up in-front of Ducks. There was a line of people waiting for it to open at 8am. So yes, we followed the masses and got in line lol. This would be our breakfast, besides isn't it the most important meal of the day. Only a few customers were allowed in at a time due to Covid. The donuts are made to order so it's fresh every time. They have an assortment of flavors and toppings, and the prices are extremely reasonable. The hubs ordered the sunrise, which was covered in lemon icing and raspberry drizzle. I had the blueberry pancake that was topped with powdered sugar. I love their two donut packaging. Sometimes people just want a few, and not have the pressures of ordering a dozen. Our donuts were hot and delicious. Mine was cakey and smothered with sweet blueberry goodness. This was a treat and not something to eat everyday. Warm and wonderful, the sweet and salty combo was perfect! My bestie had the Strawberry Shortcake and she was also impressed. Ate here post Dash and Splash 2018 race and it was great! The service was outstanding. We walked in and were instantly greeted with a "Welcome!" and a smiling face. Which was very nice and helped direct our attention to where we needed to go to order. The girl behind the counter was very helpful explaining how to order our food and how the doughnuts were made. My boyfriend and I decided on 5 different doughnuts, and were then told that for $.10 more we could get a half dozen. UGH! FINE PULL OUR LEG. haha. So we went with the half dozen. We got a 2 maple bacon types, an oreo mint, a blueberry, a glazed coconut and an "almond joy" (no almonds just peanuts). My boyfriend said the blueberry was his favorite. It must have been really stinking good SINCE HE DIDN'T OFFER ME A BITE -_- haha. My favorite was the one with bacon with a maple glaze. The mint was terrible and the others were okay. But heres the thing, everyones tastebuds are different. What you need to know is that these doughnuts are BOMB. They are made fresh right there so all of the toppings are like oozing and sliding off of the fresh, hot doughnut. So be prepared to get your fingers sticky because you're going to be using it to scrape all that sugary goodness off the bottom of the box. These are a very "cake-y" like doughnut too. SWEET as can be--in the best possible way! Right before we left one of the guys who made our doughnuts showed them to us before he boxed them up. I thought this was pretty cool. It felt like a gesture of making sure the customer was 100% happy in their order before being sent off to their own personal food heaven. He was REALLY nice and very happy to help me set up my picture when I asked if I could snap a pic. Really really impressed with the service, the staff, and DUH the food here. Definitely a place to go if you're around 31st in the morning... afternoon...or dinner! Because when is it a bad time to eat a doughnut? Visited for the first time yesterday.... Girls were very friendly. I'm not a big fan of the cakey type doughnuts but these were very fresh and soft. When my box of a dozen was handed to me the bottom was super hot and I thought oh boy because sometimes HOT doughnuts are not a good thing..I got them home and opened the box and they smelled AMAZING...I did notice they were a bit sloppy, due to being so HOT ...chocolate had that "poured, melted and almost evaporated and thin" appearance...several were PRETTY STUCK to the bottom of the box and we had to use a fork to loosen em up...but we did and they were all yummy. read more
