Took my Dad out to lunch before leaving for vacation and wanted to try something new. I've driven by here many times and was happy to finally give it a try. He wasn't too hungry because of a big breakfast so he ordered a hot fudge sundae. I ordered a hot dog. They were out of meat sauce so had mustard and relish. The sundae was a hit and the hotdog was perfectly grilled and on a toasted roll - really good! The place is small and decorated like an old fashioned ice cream parlor. So happy we found this spot - they have really great homemade ice cream. We did ask for small portions and they were still a great size though a bit pricey overall. Excellent ice cream! I had a coffee shake and it was so good. My kids loved their cups and my husband loved his cone. I like that you can order outside or find a spot in the AC indoors. Count me as one of many who drove by this little treasure many times over the years. I thought of it as an ice cream stand. Apparently it is, and an excellent one. I enjoyed the vintage soda shop atmosphere. But that's not why I stopped in. It was the promise of something a bit more substantial, as I had neglected to have lunch. So, I drove past the habitual grab-n-go convenience shop in order to pick up a burger n fries on my way to the golf course. I was treated to the best hamburger that I've had in years, even better in my mind than the places that get awards for theirs. The fries were tasty and above expectation. Even the bun was something special. It's great to have another favorite place. Looking forward to trying their ice cream. read more

I got a coke float, one son got black raspberry hard ice cream on a cone, the other got cookie dough rumble. I also got to taste my friend's coconut almond hard ice cream. Incredibly generous portions, the kiddie cones are more like you normally see for regular double cones. Very good ice cream, rich and delicious. We enjoyed sitting in the little gazebo to enjoy our icecream. Plenty of parking. read more

One of the best ice cream shops around the capital region. I was convinced that Guptill's had the best ice cream in the area until we accidentally discovered Duck Pond Farms on the way to the Altamont Winery. I was hesitant to try the ice cream from Duck Pond Farms at first because I tend to be a bit picky when it comes to my homemade ice cream, but the decision to try it was one of the best I've ever made! Duck Pond Farm's Ice Cream is rich, sweet (but not overwhelming), and delicious! No wonder the owner had the confidence to say that customers generally say they love his ice cream when asked. One of the few things I love about this place is that different ice cream flavors are made from scratch throughout the week, so the flavors never get old even if you go back everyday. I can only describe the consistency to be thick and creamy, and the taste, delicious. You really have to try the ice cream to know what I'm talking about. Another thing that I love about this place is that the owner is frequently on site so you can interact with him and talk to him. You know who made your ice cream. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the grounds and the shop are well maintained. read more

This is a really cute seasonal place as you drive out route 20 where it intersects with route 158 (across from Ma's gas station). They have picnic tables outside so if you don't go in and wait there or use the walk up ice cream window, you miss out on the cuteness of the place - has old fashioned linoleum tables from the 50s and sells things like fudge, jams, and baked goods in addition to their wonderful homemade ice cream and delicious "Quack" burgers with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese and special sauce (can also get with crispy bacon). They also have an array of homemade pie and soups. Have passed this place a million times but finally went today - we sat in the little gazebo out back. We enjoyed the burgers and the ice cream very much - we also had a dr brown's black cherry soda and a chocolate milk. This is a must stop - don't be like me and miss out on something great - it will close for the season on Oct 10 so there's still a little time but hurry! read more
