Got to the furthest point of the water portion and the transmission dies. No proper anchor on board to keep us from drifting into a dock. Hit the wall, finally the captain got the tour guide to tie us to the shore, and instead of tying us to a dock, attached to a plant. Sat out there stranded for 90 minutes. The captain and tourguide kept saying 10 to 15 minutes. Finally got towed back to shore where they attempted to get us out of the water 3 times! They said the would stop so we could use the restroom and the rude "captain" hastily says 5 mins only! Called for a refund today since we missed other reservations already paid for, and were told we have you 35% off because you finished the tour. WTF? Were we supposedly to swim? The tour is supposed to include going down ocean Ave and didn't because of the world cup, and no mention or acknowledgement of that prior to booking either. They know their equipment is in disrepair, have no proper means for safety protocol, and genuinely do not care about anything but taking your money! I had never been on a boat which goes on water and land. It was good. The duration of the tour is 90 min. we spend about 50-60 min on road and rest in water. The tour guide was good.  I had taken the city pass and it costed me about $55 for 2 destinations so that was fine. Individually I think they are selling it for $45/person which is not worth it. kids under 2/3 ride for free. And my 2 year old daughter loved it. a good family activity to do something different than beach. But def buy the city pass. Individual ticket might have not been worth it. read more

The tour was OK. The best part was the guide. His personality was great & he had all the "tea" around the island. However, the "captain" , I recall his name being Fritz was pretty rude. I asked him about restrooms before the tour started & he acted as if it had shit on my face. I tipped the guide, I could care less about Fritz (or whatever his name is). This tour was amazing. We had just reached the 2pm tour with a minute to spare. We randomly stumbled upon this and didn't know what we were in for. Our tour guide and our captain Kiki were very knowledgeable. I felt like I learned a lot on that trip. You go into the bay and do a celebrity house spotting tour. It was so worth it for $45! I mean think about it--it's basically a tour bus that drives you to the dock and then BOOM--you're in the water and the bus is a boat. Extraordinary! read more

It's something to do that's different. I am a fifth generation south Floridian and have never taken this tour before. The vehicle is an amphibious vehicle. You don't get wet, there is a roof and the rest is open. It can be a little warm but ones you are moving it is okay. The tour has a driver, and a tour guide. The guide points out local businesses and discusses who owns them or originally built them, then the vehicle makes it way into Biscayne Bay and celebrity houses are pointed out. Then the vehicle turns around, the tour guide takes your photo for you sitting in the seat with your phone. He sterilized his hands between touching everyone's phone. Masks are optional. Some wore them, some didn't. They get everyone involved by asking trivia questions or hollering out to people eat at outside restaurants. It's about 90 minutes. Enjoy! read more

Ricky was an amazing tour guide and sharky was a great driver! The tour was about an hour and a half and showed some great spots on Washington, Collins, and in the bay. We had a great experience with this duck tour. Our party consisted of Miami natives and out of towners. We all equally enjoyed the ride and learned many things about Miami. Our tour guide, Samuel, was witty, entertaining and extremely knowledgeable on the surroundings. Despite having to deal with some rain and winds for the first part of the ride, we truly had a fun time and felt the 90 minutes flew by. Touristy but Terrific! While visiting the Miami area, we decided to do some sightseeing and there were a multitude of options for tours and such. Deals: Groupon has a lot of tour opportunities at a reduced cost, so check there first for any your interested in to save some $$$. Parking: Everywhere in South Beach charges for parking pretty much 7days a week or is residential permit, so we parked near the Lincoln "mall" walk lot and it was only about $2 per hour (half what is charged for street parking or garages). Download the Park Mobile app in advance to make a smooth and convenient parking experience wherever you go. Destination: The storefront is a little obscure but you will usually see the vehicle on the adjacent street. Checking was easy , make sure to bring some water and any snacks you may want with you. The tour host was very personable and funny, providing alit of history of the area as we traveled through the city streets. Even in the back it was easy to see and understand him. Once you drive around for a bit you reach Biscayne Bay where your vehicle changes to a boat and you tootle around the bay looking at millionaire mansions and barrage of boats. The trip was enjoyable overall and with the time and money- a fun way to see the area and learn a little of its history and culture. read more

Overall the experience is ok. Nothing against the tour guides and the concept. I was personally not impressed for the dollars paid. I was not overwhelmed like I anticipated, the thought of visiting "rich and famous" homes from a distance did not excite me, I found myself looking around bored and thoughtless. I'm not one to be excited about someone else's good fortune vs mine, I'm not salty or bitter, but after all, the rich and famous are just people like us average people, but with ALOT more money. This tour was more about visiting the area and being familiar with the whole area which is what we as "tourists" are "supposed to do" I would personally spend more time at the beach or hotel pools. We chose the Miami Beach Duck Tour because we wanted to do something that the whole family could enjoy . Well, @ least It started off great. The tour guide , Alexia was informative, entertaining, and pleasantly accommodating. . She even made an extra effort getting my kids to participate & have fun. However, Unfortunately, after only 5 minutes into the water , the Tour boat broke down. I was going to only give 3/4 stars because they should probably do maintenance checks before hand. If it weren't for the boat staff, I would have. We had to wait and see if a replacement was going to take us out. It took about 40 minutes before one arrived. It's fair to say that the guide was absolutely great under pressure. So funny and entertaining. Alexia had us playing celebrity trivia & gave prizes away. Even surprised my husband by playing the "Happy Birthday " song while taking pictures for everyone. But then on the way back it started pouring. All in all, it was quite an experience. This amphibious tour that starts on land, enters the water, and gets back on land gives a tour of some celebrity homes and Miami historical spots. The tour lady was quite funny and made the trip enjoyable. In addition, she really taught us a lot about Miami culture and history, and that was delightful. Unfortunately, the boat/bus we were riding in was definitely due for an upgrade or replacement. There were times I didn't know if the engine would make it up hills or safely navigate through the water. The tour guide mentioned "it looks and sounds worse that it is, and it's completely safe." Everyplace I go, I seem to find myself forced on these duck tours and every single time I find myself disappointed. I could've actually rented a motor scooter, or purchased a citibike and been able to give myself a better tour than this duck tour. To start, with a YELP checkin you're given a 20% off your order which is cool. Sadly, the happiness stopped there. The duck tour was about an hour and a half and truthfully it felt as though most of our time was spent in the water (not even remotely close to the houses we were told we would see). You don't drive through downtown of Miami but only a few blocks on South Beach to allow you to see a few buildings. Honestly, I just was not at all impressed. Personally, I would not recommend this tour. You would be better off renting a car for the day, hopping on a bike or something else just not this. read more

I have a travel rule to always get on the water if that's an option at my destination. In Miami, I opted for the Duck Tour. Booking a same day tour was easy and friendly. This was my third Duck tour - Boston and Chattanooga being the other two - and I'd have to rank this one third. Advertising promised Star Island, Homes of the Rich & Famous, South Beach, Art Deco, Biscayne Bay and Much More. Driving to the water, and back, we passed some interesting landmarks. Think Art Deco buildings, the World Erotic Art Museum and Versace's mansion. But it just wasn't that interesting once we were on the water. See that big island? That was Rosie O'Donell's house for two years, so and so sold that house to Lil Wayne who flipped it for a huge profit two months later, Alicia Keys vacations at that house. And of course Julio, Jennifer, Enrique, Gloria, Ricky and Jon all got name dropped. It was a one trick pony that grew old. There was also some banter about Miami's history and the founders, movers and shakers who helped create Miami. Rick, I thought, was a great tour guide, lots of banter, generally funny, but also rehearsed and almost robotic. Take a breath, Rick. And say thank you when I drop $5 into your tip bucket. The best thing Rick said came when the tour ended at 6:30. "If you need a bathroom, there's one on the 3rd floor of Ross Dress for Less. You'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth $39. Rick & Captain Fritz were amazing! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time. Driving into the water was something else! So cool. I've read other reviews about the guides being over the top... we didn't experience that. Rick was very knowledgable and tailored his tourism facts to the crowd and what we were interested in. His enthusiasm and love for Miami was very much appreciated. Tons of fun. Very enjoyable tour of south beach. On the water we passed Star Island and Fisher Island and learned about which homes belong to which rich and famous folks. Our guide Maitai was knowledgeable and fun. We saw the Main Street of south beach and the hotels and restaurants. I gave 4 stars rather than 5 because I think the price is out of whack with other duck tours. Palm Beach duck tour cost $22. last year but this was $33. For a one and a half hour tour. And that was a discounted group rate. Yes, it was fun, but too high in my humble opinion. read more

We saw this 'truckie duckie' just parked up near the shopping area we had planned to visit so we added this to our intended itinerary. The tickets are on sale just around the corner from where 'duckie' was parked up. The young sales lady was charming. We decided to take the last tour on offer so that we'd still be on tour for the glorious sunset. We just call it truckie duckie here as that's this type of craft's name in a similar tour in Pittsburgh. In truth, the novelty for us was that this craft went into the water. Last time we did this type of land/water tour was going into one of the great lakes of Canada. It's also true that having done it once now we likely wouldn't go on it again. The tour was mostly enjoyable as it made its way through the streets of Miami but I find there's little enjoyment for me sitting in a boat on a lake looking across at quite expensive real estate, but things picked up when we spotted a dolphin swimming close by us. The other thing for me I suppose was that most of the names of the property owners didn't register with me. The properties for the most part seemed uninhabited. I've never heard of Sean Combs and I'm afraid if Gloria Estefan sat at the next table to me in a restaurant I wouldn't recognise her (yes I know, she wouldn't know me either). The tour guide was friendly and she took time to speak individually to everyone on the tour, and she also offered to take photos of everyone there when we were in the water but I'd hate to do her job day in day out. Quack quack! We had been trying to drag ourselves down to Miami and see more of it, so we opted to book a duck tour in May. I took my first duck tour ever back in Boston about 15+ years ago and it was a unique experience. Hubby and I got a Groupon to do one in San Francisco while we were living in the Bay Area. Groupon is always a good place to check for duck tour discounts, but be sure to read the fine print. Duck tours are a great thing to do at least once in your life, the novelty does start to wear of by your 3rd one though. I would highly recommend this to someone with children, I think it would be fun for them. Heck, it's not everyday you get to ride in a vehicle that is capable of going into the water! FYI, there is not a bathroom on the boat! You may want to ask in the ticket office and use their restroom before boarding the boat. Our tour guide was an animated gentleman who told us people say he looks like the pop artist Pit Bull. I don't remember his name, but he gets an A for his efforts. He tried to really engage the people on the boat and was entertaining. He did give us some history and background on the city of Miami. It was interesting! A big chunk of the tour was spent in the water. The waters are beautiful and blue! I've been living in FL for 11 months now and I am a bit boat toured out, so I do wish we had spent some more time touring the city. We don't really know Miami well, so more time on land would have been great! However, if you are here on a vacation from a land locked state I am sure you won't mind all the time in the gorgeous waters! I have done a lot of boat tours of mansions in Naples and Fort Lauderdale. You will get more of that on this tour. The only Mansion I remember is A-Rod's since I am a Yankees fan. We also had our 5 pound dog with us and he was allowed aboard. I always love pet friendly activities. I would recommend doing one of the first tours of the day, it's probably easiest to get parking that way. We ended up parking in an inexpensive public parking garage closer to the South Beach restaurants. It took There was a Yelp check in discount of 20% off when we visited.
