Horrible the crabs were mushy, overcooked, burnt and soft and the owner was not willing replace them.

There is a table outside that you could sit at. With my double broiled crab platter, I also had potato salad. It could have used a hit of old bay or paprika to set it off. The crab cakes were ok. No filler, but not enough seasonings. You really do get a nice lump of a crab cake, but I would have preferred it to be more moist. I did get a side of tarter and cocktail sauce. The tartar sauce is homemade I think. I would have enjoyed it with more pickle juice and pickle and again a hit of paprika or old bay would really set it off. I recommend if you're not craving highly seasoned food, but tasty and well prepared.

Okay just kidding, I've got to finish to tell you about the amazing people behind the incredible food.. We told Patrina that we weren't from around here and it was our first time at Lib's.. She was the best first impression you could have had... told us the history of the Lib family how they are the Perry Hall staple of the area. Vic was our server and he was wonderful, answering questions and very knowledgeable. Michelle was the mgr on the evening we were there and came out when we wanted to rave over the meal... when she found out we were new to the area, she came back to the table with her top picks for dining in the area. We have become "regulars" and our server that we ask for every time, (Brenna) is a bright light and always provides us with amazing service that keeps us coming back! Our meals, once again were all really good and service was top notch. Thank you, Brenna, (and team), for making our meal a memorable one, once again. I'll provide some updated photos to keep this review as fresh as the food and service! :)

The crab cake absolutely lived up to its reputation--packed with large, sweet pieces of crab meat and very little filler. It was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly light. I finally understood why Maryland is so proud of its crab cakes. The Maryland Crab Soup was hearty and comforting, with plenty of vegetables and crab flavor. The Seafood Combo was generous and perfect for sharing after a long day of exploring the city. The restaurant was busy but well organized, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The atmosphere felt lively without being overwhelming. After lunch, we took a short walk to Fells Point and spent the afternoon exploring the neighborhood, which made it a perfect Baltimore experience. If you're visiting Baltimore for the first time and want to try an authentic Maryland crab cake, this is definitely a place worth visiting.

This was my second time at the restaurant; the first experience was fantastic with top-notch service. I later discovered that our previous server was the owner's son, which explains why the service was top-tier. This time, we were greeted warmly by the host, which was a nice touch. However, after being seated, I waited 15-20 minutes while tables that arrived after us were served. When I finally got the attention of our server, Pedro, he took our order promptly, and I enjoyed my meal, especially the cream of crab soup, even if it was a bit on the warm side. My only issue was feeling rushed, as it seemed like Pedro focused more on his other tables. I had really bragged about this place to my partner, so I was hoping for a similar experience to my first visit.

Loved the atmosphere. Expect to put down at least $30 which was worth it. Fried Chesapeake Oysters with the dent corn hominy was excellent. I wish I did not have to share this appetizer. The Eastern Shore Crab Cake was large and perfect. Nicely prepared. The zucchini that came with it was also done well and not overly seasoned. The potato salad was a surprise. I've been giving out a lot of 5 stars recently, but this is a place that really deserves it. It's a must visit. It'd been many moons since I had escargot, so I got it. Despite one cooked snail being basically impossible to scrape out and my fine motor dexterity isn't great, it was delightful. My wife loved her seafood stew. Our shared side of the grilled Zucchini (definitely enough to share) was also a highlight. We've been raving about our fried clam sandwich and lobster roll since. Both were amazing; my wife said it was the best lobster roll she's had (we've never been to maine or anywhere known for lobster). The dessert passion fruit pie was a great way to end, also shared, but the crust was a little too thick and the dollop on top did kind of over power the curd. The birthday sprinkles (it wasnt either of our birthdays) were cute. We will be back. Especially to try the raw bar (We're pregnant and didnt want to risk it).

I suspect Captain Jim runs his ships all the same, no matter where they are located, so I'll put it here - but if the Captain is still in the same spot next year, I'll start the new Yelp page then. My grandfather lived in Dundalk all his life, and he was a tremendously important person in my life. He passed some time ago and is buried at... one of those cemeteries on German Hill, right across the street from Captain Jim's. I like to visit him on his birthday, and Christmas if I have the chance. This year would have been his 99th birthday. I put a box of Butterfinger candies on his headstone because they were his favorite, and decided that I would get some steamed crabs in his honor because they were also one of his favorite things (and I had the money). We were originally going to get the crabs somewhere else, but figured, 'hey, Captain Jim's is right here. Why not give them a try?' We weren't disappointed. It took about 20 minutes for them to freshly steam 3 dozen small males, and a pound of shrimp for us. It wasn't much more than $50 (which is what I had on hand from my grandmother, who has been without my grandfather for at least 15 years now). The scent of the (I'm guessing) J.O2 seasoning filled our van, and the steam from the crabs actually fogged our windows. I spent about 8 hours picking crabs. I find the activity so calming, and could do it all the time if my arthritic elbows and shoulders didn't throw an absolute fit the next day. The crabs were delicious and made me happy, and isn't that the point? We got two different butters to dip the crab in, but that's not really my thing. My boyfriend said that the plain butter tasted woody, and he didn't like that, but the garlic butter was a hit and he has used the leftover butter to make at least one dinner so far. The shrimp were lovely, and came with cocktail sauce, and steamed onions because what's the point of steamed shrimp if not to get some onions as well? I think we did right by my grandfather. Would recommend

The server seemed really overwhelmed. Forehead glistened, seemed rushed in every engagement with our table, didn't bring water until we asked. My guess is that she had too many tables. It's purely a warning to those who may be looking for a quaint dinner experience. There is loud music in the background, other customers are banging tables/crabs with mallets, and the space is crowded with people trying to talk over the background noise.
