For 10 entire months I did not order any chinese food in Baltimore because I could not find a spot and everything seemed to have 3 stars or lower on yelp which made me want to stay away. I'm used to eating chinese food in nyc, philly, princeton so my expectations are medium to high and I was just so unsure. But today my urge for American Chinese food grew too strong and I caved. Boy am I glad I did! I LOVE chinese food and this place is the perfect takeout spot and realllllly good veggie options! I wanted to find a chinese takeout in Baltimore and this will be my go to. It was tasty, flavorful, spicy in a good way, quick and delicious! I ordered hot and sour soup, veggie lo mein and Kung pao tofu. They made everything vegetarian and even added extra sauce to my tofu dish per my request. For $18 including the UBEREATS fee, i got all of this and have enough for 3 entire meals!! What a bargain. I'm so impressed and happy. Really confused about the negative reviews and I'm glad I decided to just take the chance and order even though I was extremely apprehensive. I always leave a review only if a place is really good or really terrible and this definitely falls into the first category. This place was okay. We ordered a variety of dishes for delivery when our regular place was closed and nothing was horrible but not much was amazing. My favorite was the scallion pancake, which is hard to find in this area. It had other vegetables in it too, but it was overall pretty tasty. The other dishes- crab Rangoon, shrimp egg roll, shrimp lo mein, sesame chicken- were pretty forgettable. The almond cookies were decent, though. Maybe worth a try if you're looking for some comfort American Chinese food, but it definitely won't be replacing our regular go-to. read more

A total surprise of a place. There are a lot of take out places near here and all of them look nicer from the outside but none have as good food as this place. On line ordering is fast and easy, and the food is far better than you should expect. Had the hot and sour soup, a set of chicken skewers, a spicy chicken dish, and the lovely had a noodle dish. All were solid. I asked for extra spicy soup and unlike many other places they actually turned up the heat. The only bummer was the scallion pancakes which were under cooked. I hate to leave this bad review but my $9.65 lunch was a disgrace. It makes me wonder whether they have a new chef because I've been going here for 8 years and food is always excellent. This time it missed the mark. Today I ordered sesame shrimp and fried rice. The container had 4 massive globs of overly battered baby shrimp and 4 small broccoli pieces swimming in the thick gooey overly sweetened sauce. The rice was chewy and undercooked and rather bland. This is my first time ordering from this carry-out. The employee that took my order was great fast, friendly and answered all my questions patiently. I received my order(Qt. Bean Curd Szechuan Style with White Rice, Qt. Shrimp Fried Rice and two Shrimp Egg Rolls) exactly the way I ordered it, with no mistakes. It came to around $18. The delivery driver was nice and and the meal came on time and was the perfect temperature. The price for what I ordered was very affordable. I cannot believe the rating for China Express is so low. Perhaps reviewers before me forgot this is a freaking Chinese food carryout joint. When this place stacks up against the other Chinese carryouts, China Express stands out among the pack. I have done both delivery and carryout (mostly carryout) many times, and besides the one time they forgot my free egg rolls (which you get by mentioning the offer when you order over the phone after sending at least $20), they have got my orders correctly each time and packed well. One minor complaint is they never give you napkin, but a variety of sauce packets, plastic utensils, and fortune cookies. Food is great for a cheap Chinese carryout. Items such as the scallion pancakes, egg rolls, shrimp egg rolls (in which there are 2 pieces of actual shrimp!), pizza egg rolls (cheese and marinara sauce inside an egg roll shell), boneless pork, and crab wontons are hidden gems and absolutely delicious. Their pork fried rice and lo mein have the marinated red boneless pork in them, while the chicken variety contain strips of white chicken meat. What a pleasant surprise!! So I ordered here because it's to cold outside and I really wanted some sesame chicken. Soooo I picked this place with no real expectations... And bomb-pow-SURPRISE!! The Sesame chicken rocked! It was crispy and the sauce was sweet. I got vegetable fried rice instead or pork and they had the little baby corn!! Lol awesome. Real veggies! And I also got an order of chicken on a stick and an Ice tea. The chicken on a stick was tender and juicy. And the tea rated great! My food arrived Hot and now I'm full and happy!! :). Hell yes! This a good, solid, inexpensive, little-hole-in-the-wall Chinese takeout place. Girl who took my order couldn't be more polite, helpful or friendly. Thank you! Food was very fresh, simply prepared, NOT salty and NOT oily/saucy. Egg rolls were exactly as they should be, as good as any of my go-to restaurants up in NJ. I ordered the roast duck soup - pretty awesome for inner city Baltimore. You can't really find roast duck anywhere close to Charles village. I also ordered the Singapore noodle without curry, it was the bomb diggity! The roast pork was delicious, I do believe they roast their own pork which is pretty amazing; hard to find that level of dedication. There is a known lack of Chinese food in the area, so options are limited. Of all the Chinese restaurants nearby, I would say this is the best. Delivery via the Eat24 app is quick, max 1 hr on busy weekend nights, and the delivery people are always friendly. Food is delivered very hot and neatly packaged, no leakage. Generous portion sizes. General Tso's chicken is probably the most popular order among Americans so of course I tried that as well. The spiciness level can be customized and mild, for me, was a perfect blend of sweetness with a kick of hot pepper. Utensils, napkins, condiment sauces, and rice always included. Worst customer service ever! There was a mix up on my order. I called them to let them know that I didn't receive what I wanted and that I would like the order I wanted. The food hasn't been taken out of the package or anything. I was told by the woman that the order was right and they aren't redoing any order for free. So I would have to pay again. They would not budge at all and did nothing to resolve it. I told her the item I received was the same price as the actual item I wanted and had actually ordered. She yelled at me that it was still my fault and I would have to place a new order. So I decided to just go and redeliver their food back to them. I am always confused when I see negative reviews for China Express, especially when compared to the other Chinese options in Baltimore, which are pretty bleak. The food is always flavorful, fresh and overall delicious. A good indication of how the rest of your meal is going to be is the egg roll. Their egg rolls are perfectly fried and crispy without being soggy or greasy and they are stuffed full. The meat is good quality and not fatty or gross. I love their General Tso and their lo mein but everything we've ever gotten there we've really liked. Boneless pork is also awesome. Clearly I'm a big fan! read more

I clearly mentioned to press the bell when here, but the man was calling and then pressed the bell just once and when I opened the door he was complaining why I was not opening the door.
